Guys. I already watched Mean Girls today. But who can say no to that thumbnail?

Prof. Writhms

Thumbnail tale: Simone's strength is unmatched as her trusty sidekick, George, unsheathes his mighty gaze of concern. 😄

Eik104

Me: "Maybe George will be Schwarzenegger this time" Simone: "Get dooown!"

SuperMachoJediKnight

conan always became a king later on, in his own mythos. and thulsa doom meant philosophical father-his raid put conan in the circumstances that would create the man conan became.

wroot

Conan O'Brien :D Also, double thumbnails - double fun! :D

roger lynn

Im surprised you two didnt get the Avatar the Last Airbender connection, the sorcerer is played by Mako who voiced Uncle Iroh

mojo shivers

I love that their first instinct is that it’ll follow D&D conventions for barbarians.

Fly Ωhms

13:14 You're wrong for that George 🤣

Githerax

Not surprisingly, at least one of the cast was also a former Mr. Olympia (Franco Colombu), and I'm sure more of Arnold's gym buddies found their way into the extras.

A Red Mage Named Blue

If you liked this movie, I highly recommend the Cohen the Barbarian stories from Discworld. It takes the concept of Conan and asks "What if he was so good, he never died in battle?"

Michael_AP

Arnold's lifelong friend and fellow bodybuilder Sven-Ole Thorsen is of course there ;) He's an extra in loads of Arnold's movies and other movies (Gladiator, Hunt for Red October...).

Michael_AP

First class lamenting 😂

Michael Myatt

I love Sandahl Bergman as Valeria in this. She got the same sword training as Arnold for the movie. As far as I know that would be the first time anyone bothered to train a female star in sword fighting. The end result is that she looks great and is the inspiration for all the later kick-ass women warriors in movies and TV: Xena, Ripley, Sarah Connor...

Bill Pearson

Another request for war movies you two would like, but cut in a different style and time period. The Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day-Lewis with a great soundtrack to go with it. It is based on a novel by James Fenimore Cooper written in the first half of the 1800’s about the French and Indian war. Amazing chase scenes seems throughout. It is a romantic, drama, action movie. Something for both of you two.

Craig Rhymer

This was the first screen adaptation of Conan ... they recently did a remake with Jason Momoa ... and Arnold had to do most of his own stunts - there simply weren't any stunt men who were big enough or built enough to pass for Arnold. The musical score is by Basil Poldouris - also did the score for Hunt For Red October ...

Responding to Conan the Barbarian with the answer to: WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE? or... what is the best sandwich in the world? If you want a hot sandwich and you like sauerkraut- Jason’s Deli Ruben is awesome because they pile the corned beef and the kraut high. So high! For cold sandwiches I like Jersey Mike’s subs and I usually eat the famous giant roast beef with provolone (mikes way) with Mayo and pickle added. Or Italian is good, depending on how my stomach is feeling 😁 those are just two great sandwiches that come to mind. There are many more, and burgers are a different category 🍔

James Quinn

If you want Conan the Librarian, you’ll have to watch weird Al’s UHF movie 😆😆😆

Rezblade

Nice that you guys enjoyed, yeah early very little to choose from back then but their is a sequel , theirs also the new version as well , Clash of the titans would be nice

Ken Schneyer

That last sequence, with the rolling texts, was in the original theatrical version (which I saw). But I'm pretty sure the last line was "But that is another story," not "That story will also be told."

Ken Schneyer

Also, I've never read the Conan novels, but the warrior becoming King by his own hand is also the story of Beowulf.

Ken Schneyer

This was, indeed, Arnold's first movie in English, and at the time, it felt like he was struggling.

Alan Kobb

Lots of fun. This came out after Star Wars when Hollywood was looking for high fantasy movies. The Conan books and comics fit the bill. This was Arnold's 2nd movie role. If you look at the illustrations of Conan from the books, the young Swartzeneger was a dead-ringer for Conan with all of his muscles. Another fun one from this period was Clash of the Titans, which is based on Greek myths. It's another really fun movie that avoided CG effects and did a great job on a fairly low budget. Definately see the sequel. It's also fun and has a lot of the same D&D feel. There was supposed to be a 3rd sequel, but it never happened. The D&D class was influenced heavily by this as well as Fritz Lieber's Fahfrd.

Hayden Black

If you guys decide to watch more there is a sequel Conan the Destroyer As well as a spinoff caller Red Sonya. She is essentially a female Conan also played by a bodybuilder.

HeyHeyJK

Whoa ... double Cinebinge thumbnail. Amazing (but still slightly disturbing).

Chris Conte

Who is the photoshop wizard!!!! These are SSOOO FUNNY!!!!!

Tyler Foster

I just saw this for the first time a couple of months ago, and I thought it was amazing. Saw the sequel, and it's in a rare class of sequel that isn't just bad but honestly kind of insulting as a fan of the original. Awful story, awful comedy, awful action -- just a completely worthless imitation of everything great about this one. Best thing that can be said about it is that it has good music...which is literally just copy-pasted from the original in many parts. The spin-off, Red Sonja, in which Arnold technically appears as Conan but is given another name due to copyright issues, is much better. It's not on the level of this, but it's thoroughly entertaining. It also has Sandahl Bergman again, this time playing the villain.

Zeke

Agreed Tyler. Conan the Destroyer is garbage while Red Sonja is so good.

Miles E Coburn

"Conan the Barbarian" was rated R. In trying to get more people (kids) into the audience to make more money, "Conan the Destroyer" was rated PG. That's the way Hollywood works. Check out the difference between "Major League" (1989) rated R and "Major League 2" (1994) rated PG. Lots of F-bombs and sexuality in the first, only 1 F-bomb and no sexuality in the latter. The movies are made for kids, not adults.

Odd Thomas

Another great sword movie is Highlander!
