I'm late to the party for Northman but it would have been on my top 10 list of 2022. So many goosebump / holy s*** moments. I loved The VVitch and The Lighthouse by Robert Eggers but this was in a whole other league.

ExtraBigAssTaco

I think they would really enjoy The 13th Warrior. It's based on Eaters of the Dead, by Michael Crichton.

ExtraBigAssTaco

I never got around to seeing this film, so it's on my list for this weekend. I love Alexander Skarsgård, ever since Eric Northman in True Blood. True Blood would be an interesting reaction to see, if you haven't watched it yet.

Logan Kerlee

Looking forward to watching this! I'll begin shortly, I hope!

JayF

$20 to rent and $25 to buy? Yeah, I'll be waiting until that price drops way down or it ends up on cable.

Kieran Ellis

Saw this In the cinema was intense, Robert Eggers the director is really good he did The Witch and the Lighthouse wich are very atmospheric

Jim Johnson

Please do the other Robert Eggers movies if you haven’t seen them! The Witch and The Lighthouse. He only does period pieces and goes all out with historical accuracy. He was asked if he would ever make a movie set in present day and he said no and that he was interested in every time period except the one he’s living in.

George: Speak as you wish to hear from the world. Bring forth your poetry and prose to spill your intent so none may question nor mistake your mind.

Okay, just finished. So damn thrilling! I super enjoyed this one. :D I loved how grounded this movie was, that like you both noted - it wasn't overly supernatural. THAT SPEAR SCENE.. holy fuck! I watched a trailer with that in it and yeah.. my jaw was on the floor! He fucking threw that back immediately and wow.. the furiosity throughout was so intense! The cast in this movie - EVERYONE - they all did such an amazing job! Nicole Kidman played her role very well. I will be buying this and recommending it to others. Thanks to everybody who voted for this one! It was so worth watching! :)

Drew

Saw this in the theaters without seeing a single trailer. All I knew is that it was Robert Eggers and had Anya-Taylor Joy. Fell in love.

So you like nordic mysticism movies then boy do I have a movie for you. Midsommar (2019) about swedish pagan cult with Florence Pugh who plays Yelena in MCU.

Luis Torrefranca

Don't know if this was viewed, yet, but imagine watching this immediately followed by "The Lighthouse". My head is still spinning.

Githerax

Ok, but now I have to try to sneak my PC into a theater to watch along...

Marko T.

I liked The Legend of Tarzan. I wish they had made a sequel. I hope Disney makes live-action version of the animated movie.

Haye Zeus

I liked this movie when I saw it a couple of weeks ago. The grounded brutality mixed with the epic surreal mythological imagery probably didn’t gel well with a lot of people but I dug it. It was fun. I don’t know if i’ll spend 20 bucks to rent just to see it along with ya’ll. I mean, I can find other ways. >_> <_<

Torsten Maekler

Yeah, didn't know what to expect from this film. What a bunch of crap. Visually stunning for sure; but other than that, not much to it. As scenes in a real BBC documentary very fitting, George, I agree. But that also means for a very limited audience, that is interested in this... . Yep, I am not one of them :-)

Monica Alarcon

Well I wasn't planning on watching this movie but if it's with you guys I'm in...

TuvixLogic

How about reasonably rentable movies?

Githerax

Need to catch trends to boost channel. S'ok. We'll get some other stuff soon.

Githerax

Oh, more Nordic myth fun: 'Trollhunter' (2010) Horror/Fantasy Mockumentary style, fun, not too gross, low-profile but high quality.

JoeySnowyNoey

This is my favorite movie of this year! I went and saw it four times in the theaters! Robert Eggers is my favorite filmmaker right now. All of his movies are just incredible.

Githerax

Yeah I wasn't engaged. I'm not a particular fan of Eggers, but of his movies this is the least interesting to me. 'Lighthouse' is probably my favorite, I even appreciated 'Witch' even though it isn't my usual thing.

Calum Grace

I love, love, LOVE that you guys reacted to this movie! It's so damn good, and is definitely one of my favourite films I saw in the past year or so. And yes, a whole lot of it is incredible period-accurate, or at least as close as they could make it based on consultations with historians and archaeologists, with some filling-in of gaps where we just don't know what was what. Stellar stuff.

Chris Lüders

Hello you two. 😉 If you want to watch more from Ethan Hawke, I would highly recommend 'Dead Poets Society' (1989), 'Gattaca' (1997) and 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' (2017). There are other movies but I think these are his best. Btw please avoid to watch the Magnificent Seven-Remake-Crap, even if Ethan Hawke acted in it. This movie is garbage compared to the original.

JLee

Late to the party on this one. But I loved this, and did so even more the second watch through. Robert Eggers' other two features are definitely must sees if you haven't (The VVitch and The Lighthouse). But also if you haven't seen it I must recommend 'The Green Knight' for more of the mystical medieval goodness. Beautiful, beautiful film.

JarHead0351

Since you enjoy this Viking Movie try "The 13 Warrior" and TV show Vikings & The Last Kingom - All three are really good Viking show/movies

Ned Warbone

Fantastic film - and enjoyed the watch along too. The funeral scene is based on known funeral rites of vikings in Eastern Europe, although it may seem surprising, somewhat toned down for this movie. If you want to see more Anya Taylor-Joy, Last Night in Soho is definitely worth a look.

Hector M.

The 13th Warrior is another great Viking movie!!
