"I'm going to tell you a story, and at first it will sound ridiculous but the longer I talk the more rational it will appear" is my favorite line in the movie. Like there has to be 5000 ways to say "The mimics are beating us because they have time travel, I have borrowed their power, I'm going to prove it to you by predicting the future, and then you're going to help me save humanity" that sound less like the preamble to a Scientology recruitment speech. And Tom says it twice! The second time especially where he doesn't have any future knowledge to back up his story but all he had to do was show up with the Angel of Verdun anyway.

Movies where Bill Paxton is Bill Paxton. I highly recommend Twister (1996). Though even in that movie Helen Hunt got top billing. A Simple Plan (1998) is also great. Tombstone (1993) he is not the lead but he is really good. Predator 2 (1990) is awesome.

Torsten Maekler

Yes, Downfall is a film about the last days of the end of the third reich. You should watch it :-)

braaap

what happened to superbad? wasnt that meant to be last week?

Cinebinge

If all goes well Superbad is up tomorrow. most videos are uploaded a few days or even up to a week ahead of Patreon release as we need to give it time to 'marinade' in the YT copyright claim bots. Superbad unfortunately got a age restriction strike 4 days into it and had to be re-edited down so it got pushed back

Edging the Independent Groundhog! (Sorry, children.) Is it just me or does Simone use the Fargo "ja" in the intro a few times? The military probably just doesn't have time to deal with his shit. The invasion will happen within 24 hours and their job is to pull it off. Questioning their entire view of reality at the last minute would sound very unmilitary-like. Recommendation for an atypical Tom Cruise role: Collateral. It's one of this best.

JediLounger

Since Simone likes Emily Blunt, I strongly advise you watch A Quiet Place.

Nogusta

For more great Bill Paxton, try Near Dark (1987).

David Martin

Very, very terrifying aliens. Best thing about them is you don't have time to be terrified -- you're already dead.

Who Are These People

Seconding 'Twister', that's about as "lead" as I can think of Bill Paxton. It's actually packed with talent and good acting for such a silly movie.

texasviking

Frailty, starring and directed by Bill Paxton.

Florian Hoyer

i am a bit confused that u are confused xD he was told an order and wanted to coward out so the general said "you do it" and then he threatened him so ... of course he got punished xD honestly what u talk about sounds good only use soldiers who want but in war everyone either does it or get shot xD most soldiers in ww2 not wanted to fight but they were drafted, same for korea war vietnam war ... u get drafted u need to go. if you dont its desertation and depending on war its prison, death, or u get forced to fight anways

olly.enn

Is there even ANYONE on Youtube or Patreon that did a reaction to that one??

Andrea Scacchi

have you guy ever watched FRINGE? a bit obscure tv series produced by Abrams and Orci in the 2008-13 sometimes considered "the modern X-files" (well with a better ending at least) Fairly episodic, but seasonal narrative get progressively more important

Tim Pierce

I can imagine, after the aliens are dead, Tom Cruise killing himself over and over again until he can get Emily Blunt to fall in love with him.

GBmain

They requested a movie where Bill Paxton is the lead and all I can think of is 'Twister'... 90s tornado movie.. I liked it as a kid but I might be looking back with rose tinted glasses...

Martin Nicholls

Re the ending there's a sequel coming (fairly soon, actually - it's part of the reason Tom Cruise has been essentially living in the UK the last few years) so..

Martin Nicholls

The trouble is Bill Paxton was a character actor (one of the best IMHO though he was super typecast as military type because of Aliens) so there are very few roles otherwise, I get the impression he liked it that way.

Jack Burton

BILL PAXTON: MAIN ROLE.... Twister! Watch Twister! He's the #1 numeral-uno head-hancho leading-man hero protagonist front-man.

Loved this reaction! This may be Tom Cruise's most underrated movie. I recommend another great alien-invasion movie starring Tom Cruise: "War Of The Worlds" (2005), directed by Steven Spielberg (based on the H.G. Wells novel). The 1953 movie version is pretty good too, with state of the art special effects for the time. And the ultimate movie starring Bill Paxton is a very well made (and written) horror film called "Frailty" (2001). He's not only the star, he directed it.

HUM

I suggest the movie "Life" if you guys havent watched it already. 2017 thriller with Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds. George made me think of it with something he said hehe

Opti_Frog

I can never really remember the third act of this movie because it's so much less interesting than what came before.

Haye Zeus

Frailty is not only a good movie that Bill Paxton stars in but he also direct it. Highly recommend

Ken Myers

Bill Paxton as main character: best movie choice is Frailty. Totally awesome thriller with twists. Great reaction movie.

Embedding military media people in combat is a very common thing since WWII, at least in the US. PR is very important to keep people invested in spending money and bodies on a war. And this isn't just combat ready troops trained to report and shoot media... in WWII the sent movie industry directors to forward operating bases to shoot films to help boost morale and sell the war at home. In addition, during wartime you can't just "decide" you don't want to follow orders. In the US, at least, that caries very serious penalties. I don't know why, but I have noticed the last month or so George has become very annoyed and negative about every movie they react to. In a movie whose theme is very unrealistic he focuses on very small things to, I dare say nitpick, just because he doesn't understand it. Which doesn't make sense to me... movies are inherently unrealistic, but they aren't supposed to realistic. Movies are a form of storytelling... a way to express a theme or idea. I know George understands this because he is one of the smarter reactors I follow, just lately he seems frustrated. I don't know, but I hope everything is cool.

Chase Schleich

The title you were both looking for at the end of the video was The Day of Groundhog's Independence

JoeySnowyNoey

I'm pretty sure the reason why they wrote Tom Cruise the way they did was because it'd be more fun to see him go from a wimpy loser to a badass. If he was already a soldier it would be less fun because he would already have training and stuff. So I'm pretty sure that's the reason why the writing is a little convoluted in the beginning.

Andrew Roach

Let me lead by saying Cinebinge were perhaps my favorite reactors but George's non stop negative and mostly PETTY nitpicks were damned annoying! Remember, most movies voted in polls are loved so this type of petty is vile. Some examples perhaps: - why pick Cage for this assignment, well the whole opening spelled out he was the main media guy so you would want him to sell the invasion. - why did the General do this, well I guess he just didn't react well to blackmailers. - why no phone calls from the base, really? this was an issue, really? how rules are now play no role in a futuristic situation where the world is falling to an alien invasion. perhaps prior missions were compromised by calls. - and by far the worse: most people's reaction to the carrier's floor opening for the drop is WOW, George's was to scowl, actually scowl! I guess he would prefer the bottleneck of a door? If this negative nancy'ing continues you will have one less patreon and I wonder if I am alone. Perhaps a poll, perhaps Simone it's time to drop a negative nancy...

It can get annoying yeah , will I unsubscribe because of it ? No , George fall into the category of people that Grant Morrison describe one day , that don't go always well with reaction channel that goes like. Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.” "Kids understand that real crabs don't sing like the ones in The Little Mermaid. But you give an adult fiction, and the adult starts asking really fucking dumb questions like `how does superman fly? How do those eyebeams work? Who pumps the batmobile's tires?' it's a fucking made-up story, you idiot! Nobody pumps the tires!"

Marko T.

I always like the poster describing part. You should do it the other way around if its a movie Simone has seen but George hasn't.

gobmob2000

Look, I'm exactly like George, I love nitpicking movies. But what you guys don't get is, WE KNOW THAT IT IS FICTION! We just try to compare it to reality because its fun, not to criticize. Nobody is saying its a bad film because it is not realistic, but that does not mean we can not compare it to reality as a fun mental exercise. The better question is, why does it bother your guys so much? Why are you so protective over a film?

Betterfire

I was talking in general not about this movie to begin with and like you said , you love it , some people don't , end of the story , have a nice day.

Alie

Thank for the reaction guys :) I love this movie! And hey. I got to see THE Emily Blunt scene all over again. I agree with Simone, it's easy to girl crush on xD

Marko T.

I recommend The Wolf Man (2010). It has Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins.

Jiří Svašek

Hey guys, pls consider watching Jack Reacher movies. Great stuff with Tom Cruise.

Ken Myers

The movie to me that is closest to Edge of Tomorrow is Source Code. Great film, action / sci-fi, and I think only one reaction to it. Really flying under the radar with reactors. Also, Frailty as mentioned starring Bill Paxton, another great movie, also flying under the radar with reactors even though it's overall probably a better movie than Edge of Tomorrow, somewhere between Memento and Sixth Sense in terms of quality.

Jack Burton

My vote is to react to the show on Amazon. Cruise did fine, and I enjoyed them, but he's not meant to play Jack Reacher. Either way though I'd watch it. :)

Kim-Christian Nielsen

Bill Paxton is the lead in Twister. The kind of movie Hollywood does not make anymore. Deffinately worth watching!

David Martin

Frailty is very good, but disturbing. I really like Bill Paxton and he's reason enough to watch a film. A hidden gem of his is "One False Move (1992)".

David Martin

Edge of Tomorrow rests on the performances of Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise. The story has a great premise, but you can kind of see where it's going as it plays out. I was stunned by the ending of Frailty -- never saw it coming. Just writing about it makes me want to watch it again!

WastedPo

I'd like to recommend MINORITY REPORT (2002), another sci-fi movie with Cruise, directed by Spielberg. I'd say it's more uneven than Edge of Tomorrow (a lot of the jokes feel out of place), but it's still got a lot of really great ideas and individual scenes. Cruise is solid as usual, and there's even a scene that's very reminiscent of the scene from Edge of Tomorrow when Cruise/Blunt break into the government building.

Zerocyde

You guys mention you wanna see more Emily Blunt movies, it was actually the Mary Poppins remake followed by Jungle Cruise that made me fall for her. Really fun movies and she absolutely radiates pure blinding light in each.

wroot

Yeah, sometimes it really irks me. In this movie in the beginning especially. He questions everything. How about just watching the movie. And i guess, they have to talk about something for Youtube, but for some reason they often talk during great action scenes in this movie and i just feel like with so many reactors that they don't care that much about what is actually happening. Most reactors pause and listen to some dialogs and tear jerking moments, but hell of action is used to talk about where do i know this actor from :) Well, this is more likely to happen with a pair of reactors than when there is just one person.
