Miles E Coburn

Dystopian Future ("A Clockwork Orange", "The Running Man") doesn't mean it's Science Fiction.

Śéáń

If going with Akira, and if going with the dub, make sure it's the remastered edition with the better voice actors. The first dub of the film has the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles voice actors, and the experience is greatly lessened by it. For example, mispronouncing the main characters name.

Jeromy M

More Kubrick please, Clockwork Orange for the win.

tristan renaut

Damn a clockwork orange would be interesting !

Ayna

Not sure if this is the right place to make suggestions, but I'll give it a go <.< (I apologize if any of these have been done before and I've missed it.) What We Do In The Shadows (Movie & Tv Series) Our Flag Means Death (TV Series) Black Phone (Movie) Midsommar (Movie) Us (Movie) The Croods (Movie/Animation) Hush (Movie) As always, love your content! ^_^

Taterology

Contact is one of my favorite sci-fi movies. Written by the great Carl Sagan. I enjoyed it because it was more Sci than fi.

Florian

If you do Hitchhikers guide throught the glaxy, please do the BBC show from 1981. Its much better than the new movie 😬

David Calvin

Lots of good stuff here, but I'm very excited to see Contact. It surprises me that few react channels cover it.

Justin Wolford

Both Hitchhiker's guide and ready player one are some of my favorite sci-fi novels. and they both were turned into really enjoyable movies which doesnt always happen with adaptations.

Jeremy Harris

Pacific Rim may not be the deepest of movies.... pun intended, but it is a helluva fun time. Absolutely love that movie. Too bad the sequel sucked

Aussiefeld

Predestination (2014) is another great Sci-Fi movie...

Marko T.

The Running Man is good but you should watch The 6th Day (2000). Its a great scifi starring Arnold.

Jonathan

For future sci-fi or comedy list, I'd suggest Mars Attacks. :)

Deserana12

Please do Children of Men and Memento at some point!

Tim Pierce

Once again, I suggest Last Action Hero. It's got Arnold, it's got a Sci fi/fantasy element, you can't go wrong.

Bob Bittner

“Contact” is that rare SF movie that bothers to ask—and then explore—some of the biggest questions, without shying away from serious issues even within the context of a really engaging SF story.

Taylor

Pacific Rim and Contact seem to be pulling ahead. That's a pretty sweet combo

Wrencher86

Ex Machina needs to make it on a poll at some point. Slow burn sci-fi thriller. Great performances.

Duncan

George deserves The Running Man in his life

Davide

I don’t think A Clockwork Orange can be considered Sci-Fi. Anyway, i voted for Contact and I hope it wins. You should take a look Annihilation.

David Martin

Definitely consider Annihilation. Its title and the trailers and promo photos are extremely misleading about its content. It shows 4 women dressed in battle gear as if it's an action movie. It's far more thoughtful and thought-provoking than that.

Jack Burton

Contact, all day. Hope it wins. :)

Ken Myers

No clue why Contact is winning, super bland movie. Was not a good movie to begin with, not going to be a good reaction video. SPOILER ALERT: Worse it was heavy-handed pro-Christian propaganda. (isn't the president's special Christian advisor the romantic love interest? And winds up being the voice of reason? Whole alien thing becomes religious mumbo jumbo. Gimme a f-in break!) Just god-awful unless you are Christian sheeple. And has absurd "scooby-doo" ending fit for a 6 year old (when you build an alien transporter following alien plans and send your best scientist and pilot through it and, according to your readings using our backwards technology, it looks like nothing happened, but she describes being transported to alien world and having a conversation with alien being... the scientists will NOT brush it off as "oh, you obviously were just hallucinating..." People just don't randomly hallucinate complex social interactions and sequences. No one would believe that outside of a Scooby-Doo episode or similar immature tv trope. Awful movie, awful messaging, insultingly stupid resolution. You have to be an idiot NOT to feel like this movie insults your intelligence!

Samuel Vincent

If you haven't seen it yet, I think you should throw Gremlins into the mix.

Mati D.

Contact is a must, amazing classic.

Gabriel L.

My two top picks, Contact and Pacific Rim, couldn't be more different, but both would be great to react to. Glad to see they are leading the poll.

Shane Kolaga

Pacific Rim is such a underrated movie. I realized I voted for all like 'Dystopian' movies in Pacific Rim, Akira, and Running Man just all different types lol

michael clarke

completely divided between akira and contact. went with contact.

Butcher Carl

Most of those are overrated or not very good, but Akira and clockwork are absolute classics

Marko T.

The Iron Giant (1999). Great scifi animated movie.

overdev

Flight of the Navigator is also a scifi 80s classic :)

Marty McGee

Contact is one of my favorites. Not your typical sci-fi, but very well written and done. All-star cast as well. Pacific Rim is probably one of the most fun movies ever made. Total popcorn movie with big action and doesn't take itself too seriously. I'd suggest not watching the sequel though. It goes into Transformers territory from fun to stupid.

Travis H

Going with Contact, Clockwork, and Hitchhikers. And crossing my fingers that Ready Player One doesn’t win, I personally can’t stand that movie (no offense to any that does, it’s not for me). And I don’t know how much they would like it if they haven’t seen most of the movies referenced. The movies whole premise is basically “look it’s that thing, from that thing”.

Spooky Dooky

Please consider K-Pax, its a great movie!

Spooky Dooky

At least put it up for a vote

Ali Williams

I can’t wait to see you two react to the pure visual insanity of Akira. I don’t care when you watch it. Just let me know when you are going to watch it. Fun!

Bjorn Andreassen

Some interesting film choices in this poll. For me personally, two that stand out for different reasons are Ready Player One and The Running Man. Ready Player One has plenty geeky genre references that you need to look for, some more obvious than others but is a visually entertaining spectacle regardless. The Running Man embodies the same dystopian lifestyle feel of Robocop or Demolition Man. More than that though you get everything you would expect from a Arnold Schwarzenegger film. Action, humour, one liners, outrageously entertaining moments and a memorable charasmatic unscrupulous villain

Scott Edgar

The Running Man for sure. Arnold in a Stephen King movie? Yes please

Brian Hakala

Running Man is pretty underrated. It’s definitely full of cheese but it has some real life undertones you’ll pick up on when you watch.

Marcus Hicks

Awesome, Contact is winning. After The Running Man, this was my.top choice.

Michael

Akira is easily the king of the hill here, quality-wise. Maybe Kubrick’s film after that.

Byron

Contact is a perfectly cromulent movie, but I had no idea it was so popular. From what I recall at the time, the general feeling was the film was disappointing, given the cast and subject matter.

FromDarknessComesLight

A Clockwork Orange is... rough to watch. It's filmed well, but merely saying the "content may be distressing for some viewers" really doesn't cover how horrific parts of that film are.

Stacy Spicer

I would like to request a film for a future poll that fits this category (of course, if one or both you have not seen it) Ender's Game starring Harrison Ford, thanks

Jeromy M

I honestly cant figure how Pacific Rim has more likes than some absolute classics.

LazildyRose

A lot of great movies in this poll, can't wait for most of them. Some other Sci-fi recommendations would be Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951).

Lyonheart86(BryonH)

RP1 is one of the best movies in recent history.. I saw it like 12 times when it came out .. RIP movie pass

Peter Maňko

THE MOON! Hol'up, why isn't it there?

1920sBuffaloGuy

The fact that A Clockwork Orange is losing out to trash like Pacific Rim tells you all you need to know about the time we find ourselves in currently. Sad.

Nemo-the-Red

Contact is a strange one for people to gravitate towards, but it is a fine movie.

john paul

What kind Sci-fi lineup is this? Gotta throw in Gattaca, Minority Report, A Scanner Darkly, and 12 Monkeys

Monarch Black

I can't believe how low Hitchhiker's is with how good the cast is.

Jeromy M

Can we please also do Blade Runner 2049, now that the first one is done

Dave Gaskin

If every sci-fi movie was on the poll, it would be a loooooong list. Of course there are omissions but I'm sure George & Simone will watch more of the genre in the future. My vote goes to Contact. As someone who lost a parent at a young age, the older I get, the more I appreciate the film's heart. Looking forward to seeing your reaction. :)

Jon B

Oblivion is a fun, but a bit bland Sci fi option.

Nemo

Have you guys considered reacting to Arcane? There are only 9 episodes and it's stellar.

Lindsay G

Dark City and Children of Men are two worth checking out.

YoureMrLebowski

Do all great movies make great reactions? i propose they do not (necessarily). i say that because i love kubrick's movies, but really don't love most reactions to his movies (the shining and full metal jacket are usually great though). i think Contact will be a much better reaction than 2001: A Space Odessey would be. 2001 is great, and i think Contact is great too (got my vote). but if i had to choose i'd choose a Contact reaction over 2001 every time. but that's me. what's your experience been like?

Joe Paquet

These guys should really watch young Frankenstein, American Graffiti, the world's end, end of watch and finding Forrester

Lindsay G

With the recent passing of actor David Warner I'd love to see reactions to Time Bandits and The Omen if you haven't seen them

David Martin

How about "Gravity"? The only reactions I could find are the annoying kind where the reviewer maintains a running dialog about what's happening on the screen.

Ken Myers

Where's the Black Hole? Dreamscape? the Dead Zone? Source Code?

Jon B

I'm not crazy about any of these picks. How about Minority Report, with Tom Cruise and Spielberg?

Nathan Jasper

I'm glad Contact won out over Pacific Rim. I don't care what critics say, that was disappointing

AC10

I feel like most have never seen Ready Player One??? It is by far my favorite of this list. I cant believe it is dead last.

Andy Frost

I honestly don't like any of the movies in this poll, I've voted for the two least disliked.

Michael Bourke

A Clockwork Orange is a really interesting movie and I love Pacific Rim ( ok, I know it's dumb but I like it ). The others I'm not really interested in. Surprised Contact is getting so many votes, I watched it once when it came out and almost fell asleep. Having watched and really enjoyed the original TV version of Hitchhikers Guide I struggled to get through the movie, just thought it was terrible. But hey, that's just my taste.

howtocookazombie (Stan)

I'm glad that Contact "won". But I also really would like to re-watch some of the other movies with you too, like "Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy" and maybe "The Running Man" with Arnold. 👍
