Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Patreon Version

I’m sure it’s been talked about but I’m not gonna read every comment. These are not remakes. These are written with the full intent to be prequels to the original films. They are more grounded and have better effects but this is still all one big series.

djKENTO

except for the 2001 Marky Mark movie. That is a remake and it fuckin stinks to high heaven.

Left this comment on the Star Trek: The Animated Series reaction by mistake. Oops. When I watched this reaction the first time, George, I kept trying to think why what you were saying, made sense about Dawn seeming like it should be before Rise, while at the same time, the order it's in, Rise, then Dawn, also seemed right to me. When listening to you two talking this time, the words finally came to me. I see Rise as being first because this movie is about the world where the apes are superior in power coming to fruition, while Dawn refers to the early period of time in which that same world, which already rose into being, is further developing. Dawn, as in the early years of it. The world has to come into being, or rise up, before it has its first years of development. I hope that makes sense. Diving into this now. Again. LOL

Good choice. Although I'd personally recommend you watch the original Planet of the Apes its quite good and I think you two would enjoy it. In fact after your strangelove reaction I think you should watch more classic movies.

Odd Thomas

Two and three are much better

JayF

Please continue with this trilogy. They are all very good. There are some lines in this one that were an homage to the original movie. Also, I'm an Animal Services Officer and would never tangle with an ape. Nope. I really do wish Hollywood would discontinue the stereotype of what Animal Control is though. All of my officers love animals and we do everything we can to avoid hurting them. My personal policy on use of a catch pole is that I treat it like a cop (hopefully) treats his gun. I only use it when absolutely necessary.

It's 1am Monday morning, I should be asleep.... but damn if im not going to watch this.

Scifi is _so_ your genre. God I love hearing you guys throw around thoughts after a good scifi movie. I also really recommend the 1968 movie. It may have aged in some respects but the script is rock solid thought-provoking scifi with some killer beats. It spawned a franchise for a reason. But allow me to voice a bit of criticism as well: I admit that when I first saw this, I thought "here's another set of good movies that they'll never finish". While having a wide variety of movies is one of your many strengths as a reaction channel, leaving trilogies or series unfinished can cause frustration. I wish that in the future you'll keep the community more clearly updated on whether you intend to continue with a series.

Watching this they really should've sold their house in San Francisco and moved to the countryside somewhere with better neighbours

"I would like a whole movie with just the apes." --George The sequels contain more and more scenes with apes and are just better as the story progresses. Not to mention the CGI is even more realistic as well.

ChickensAreRacist

This is probably my favorite reaction by you two, and I’m so glad for it cuz it’s one of my favorite movies/trilogies.

ChickensAreRacist

The way they seemed to really enjoy this, I’m just gonna super expect (and clearly hope) they will do the full trilogy.

GBmain

Side note "Koba" was Stalin's nickname... Don't know if any of the others are named after 'revolutionaries' so to speak

Jim Johnson

Please finish this trilogy and also do the original Charlton Heston movie, it’s a classic.

Abbraccia

maybe you should have seen the original Planet of the apes (1968) first. not the poorly rated remake of 2001

WastedPo

I think you're mistaken. This isn't the poorly-received 2001 version directed by Tim Burton. This is the well-received "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" from 2011.

Persnickity

The trilogy continues to get better so I do hope y'all continue the series. The cgi also gets better every movie

Travis H

You two should definitely continue this series, all 3 movies are great! And when George asked if this was going to become a heist movie, it made me wonder if you two have seen the Paddington movies? You two would LOVE those movies! The second one in particular is considered a modern masterpiece.

JarHead0351

lol just got done watching whole series last week - here I go again with you both lol

JoeySnowyNoey

This whole series is pretty dope! And extremely underrated! It also reminded me of this awesome movie called A Monster Calls (2016) because of Toby Kebbell which he is in as well as a human this time. Lol

TGrimace

Excellent reaction video for an excellent movie! Not going to lie though. I'm very disappointed you didn't start with the original movies. They are amazing

Aussiefeld

They are... And it is quite a jump in terms of effects quality.... Seeing the originals would be good to appreciate the jump as well as the original story...

Opti_Frog

Great, great reaction. Wish you would have started with the 1968 movie, because watching it after Rise is a completely different experience.

Garrett Mazzuca

Rise is great, but Dawn and War are next level. Can't wait for those reactions as well :)

EyedOmally

Please finish this trilogy and end it with the 1968 Planet of the Apes.

Lou Gallucci

Yea, do they not know the original and its' twist before watching this ?

Chase Schleich

Each film in the trilogy is different than the last. All 3 are great and worth watching. When doing IP's with sequels or trilogies you should watch one entry per week instead of just doing the first one then maybe getting to the sequel months down the line if ever. Now I want to watch Dawn, but I know as soon as I do you'll post it and I won't want to watch it again so soon lol

Armchair Wizard

I really REALLY think you will like the second one even more than this, especially if you want more apes.

Jon B

This is my favorite of the three, I really liked to see Cesar grow up and struggle with his role in society. The other two movies are good, but the nuance is lost in them, as they declare humans wholly evil. How I remember them anyway.

Thomas Yanez

Wow, I'd forgotten how many homages/references there were to the 1968 movie. So many direct quotes / scenarios referenced. I really wish you'd seen the original movie first now.

Logan Kerlee

I REALLY enjoyed this reaction. Holy crap, this movie is excellent. Hits me in the feels every time I watch it. I'm 100% down for you both to watch and react to the sequels. This one's my favorite of the three, but I'd still enjoy the others. Caesar is amazing! :) <3

SavageDiplomat

I cant believe that this is the first time i have seen that credits scene.

Joe Mallard

Any change we get reactions to the sequels?
