Arcane: Episode 7, 8, 9 - Patreon Version

Comments

You should really watch the making of this show that's on YouTube. Its called "bridging the rift" 5 or 6 part series really really good

Thomas Williamson

Caution: Spoilers ahead (somewhat): "So, how are you doing?" (long pause) "I don't know." That's when you know it was a good show.

You are evil geniuses to have these TV reactions as exclusives. How can I NOT create a Patreon account and join to see fantastic shows like "Arcane" in all their glory with the two of you? Say what you will about Netflix and their poor decision making, they have come up with a few gems in their original programming. "Arcane" is one of the most well-written shows I have ever seen. EVERYTHING in this show is important, and it all ties together so amazingly well. I've watched the whole series four times now, and I'm still spotting new details and connections that I didn't notice before. The only other show I can think of that was this tightly woven was also a Netflix original, "The Haunting of Hill House." I imagine you've already seen that one, but if you haven't, I'd love a reaction to it! Now, I'm off to watch more of my favorite shows with you! "Firefly" and "The Last of Us," here I come!

Wub

Netflix actually had nothing to do with the writing or production of Arcane. I'd recommend the behind-the-scenes documentary, "Bridging the Rift"; it goes into detail about the show's creation and even gives a bit of the process going into season two!

Dann3r

Late to the party and completely new in these hoodz. Arcane is a masterpiece, it was fun watching it again but with you guys as "company" :) and btw, season 2 hype anyone? cheers

Jonathan

If you never saw the behind the scenes Bridging The Rift, it was really good. Don't need to react to it, just watch it on your own time. :) It's worth a few hours.

rick trevino

watched again for 2nd time, forgot how good this was. cant wait for November for season 2. trailer is online if you want to watch it. cant wait for yalls reaction as well!

JayF

This show has been an unexpected pleasure but I'm mostly just giddy that The Wire is supposed to be next.

AdmiralZhou

Yess all 3 episodes! This is such a good show. Riot and Fortiche knocked it out of the park

8bitAndy

I really enjoy these Patreon exclusives! I hope you'll do the BBC series Sherlock at some point. I feel like the episode length and season length will fit this format really well. Plus, it's a great show! Can't go wrong with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, imo. As always, thank you for the (BONUS) content! Can't wait to see what's next! <3

i dont think Ekko was using his abilities yet. Its more of a show, how they played as childrend, so he KNEW how she would fight. Ekko's Abilities are something that will come with...time... Maybe Season 2, from the teaser, alot of new stuff will come

Keep in mind we didn't see the council dead,... yet. Also, when Silco told Jinx she was perfect I do believe he meant it and did love her like a daughter. But at the same time she is perfect because she turned out exactly how he wanted her to for the chaos he wanted. Remember at one point he told her she needed to "finish the weapon". It was his plan all along to destroy the council. This show is so good it is easily in my top 3 favorite shows of all time. Thanks for watching.

redddfer44

Exactly. I don't believe anything that doesn't happen right in front of the screen. I agree on your thoughts on Silco as well.

1:36 S-tier deadpan delivery, George. And cool shirt! (Skip the next paragraph for info on the *two versions* of The Wire -- the HD isn't necessarily the better choice.) Arcane is outstanding in a lot of ways but one thing that rrrreally impresses me is the way it treats moral and emotional complexity. "Moral gray areas" has become such a cliche that I expect monotonous emotionality and people being differing degrees of shitty. But I'd say Arcane is morally colorful, instead of gray. Basically any of the major players could be the main character in a show and we'd root for them, if the show was framed properly. And it's not just "everyone capable of evil", but about all the complexities of circumstance, psychology, and misunderstanding that create evil between people, even if from their point of view they're the good guys. The Wire has two versions, SD and HD. The SD in 4:3 is the original and all the artistic choices are made for that; the HD transfer to 16:9 aspect ratio was supervised by the creator of the show, David Simon, but I get the impression that it was more of a "the network wants this and people want it and we need to make sure they don't fuck up" kind of situation rather than the creator's intent. Said he on vox.com in 2014: "I’m satisfied that while this new version of The Wire is not, in some specific ways, the film we first made, it has sufficient merit to exist as an alternate version. There are scenes that clearly improve in HD and in the widescreen format. But, there are things that are not improved. And even with our best resizing, touchups and maneuver , there are some things that are simply not as good. That’s the inevitability here: This new version, is, after all, is one that is presented in an aspect ratio that simply wasn’t intended or serviced by the filmmakers." TL;DR: If you want to see the original artistic intent, watch the SD. If you want an alternate version with a sharper picture, watch the HD. Have a great week and apologies for the wall of text.

I’ve never liked fantasy but I really enjoyed the hell outta this. Thanks for reacting to it. Makes me wonder what else I’m missing out on.

Karp

Riot released a documentary in YouTube about how they made Arcane and it’s incredible. It’s called “Bridging the Rift”.

Justin Wolford

Was Simones referencing little nemo when Jace started firing his hammer?Pajama. Pajama. Cuz that would be amazing i didnt think anyone remembered that movie.

AC10

I felt the same way about Avatar the last airbender. Now after a year of watching multiple reaction channels I can say that I enjoy discovering new things to watch much more than re-watching things I have already seen.

Torsten Maekler

Simone's look when George said "Nah, I have to go" after finishing Episode 8 - priceless ;-)

Dor

Hey guys, one non-spoiler piece of advice for viewing The Wire - start with closed captions/ subtitles enabled. If you turn out not to need them, you can turn them off later, but The accent is sometimes hard to understand, the vernacular may be unfamiliar, and the show throws you in the deep end without holding your hand. Captions really helped me through the early episodes until I got used to the accent and learned more of the lingo. Happy watching!

PIG

Cinebinge has quickly risen as one of my favorite reactors, yet I never watched their Arcane reaction. Then I just noticed from different comments that The Wire is their next move. I can't believe it. My favorite show with one of my favorite reactors... that's so great. I really can't wait. Cinebinge is sharp and they have heart, so this will be an incredible experience. A big thank you to their fans for pointing them in this direction.

PIG

Makes me want to vote for the SD. The Wire is all about data and perceptions from the system being 'boxed in' so it kind of matches. It's a good feel for the message of the show.

bushpusherr

Oh damn, my favorite all-time TV shows that y'all haven't already covered are Westworld, Mr. Robot, and The Wire. So pumped to see you guys dive into the latter (and y'all would seriously love the other two also). It is such a deeply authentic and grounded show and I've never really sought out any reactions to it. Super pumped. And thanks for the Arcane reactions! I only really started the show to watch along with you all, and it has quickly become one of my favorites ever. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. It is just *so* well written, and it really really holds up to multiple re-watches. No character is uncomplicated (well, except maybe Claggor — of the named characters at least), and there are so many nuances to each of them that are easy to miss upon first viewing.

samuel Jakob

Thank god u did all 3 in on episode, I dont think I wouldve survied waiting another week, kinda sad that u didnt check out the enemy music video, even tho I still recommend u to watch it on ur own time, espeically simone because she loved the show that much.

Pavel Straka

Thank you for going through Arcane. It has been a treat to rewatch this with you. 🧡💛🧡

Ravenlay

I left a comment on your YouTube channel months ago, telling you how much I loved your channel and personalities, and asking if you guys would ever react to Arcane. You responded in kindness and gratitude, telling me Arcane occasionally comes up in the polls on your Patreon, but had not won yet. Learning that, I created a Patreon account specifically just for you guys, and here we are months later, finally finishing Arcane. Thank you so much for this treat. I've been really happy I subscribed to your channel, and I feel like an arc has been completed :D I look forward to all your future reactions, and of course will remain a loyal patron <3 Love you guys.

Ana Fox

Arcane is AMAZING! I loved rewatching it with you two. I hope Season two is near.

For those wondering who might have killed Mel's brother, the only person i can think of is a person named Swain. I play the game and love the lore, hope that takes you down a rabbit whole.
