I... did not see this thumbnail coming. If I had a hat, I would take it off for you, George.

Sarahnade

The next one is definitely worth a watch, maybe my favorite. But I honestly don't remember the rest.

BHillzebub

I honestly believe George has cornered the market in regards to disturbing thumbnails. 10/10 would not want to see again. :P

Pam Nail

The first movie is definitely the best of the series, but the second and third are also great in my opinion and make a nice epic trilogy. Fourth is decent but nowhere near as good the the previous films. I don't hate five as much as most, but it's definitely the low point -- at least partly because it didn't have the same writers as the other four. There's not really a story with the Disney ride. It's just a bunch of "scenes" with fun animatronics, and a handful of those are recreated in the film. The most iconic of which is the prisoners in the jail cell trying to lure the dog carrying the keys (that shot of them reaching through the bars is almost an exact match to the scene in the ride). Since the success of the franchise, they've added things from the movies to the ride, most notably Capt. Jack Sparrow being in a few of the scenes.

AC10

Few times have I seen two people tandem laugh this much. So much fun!!

Blacky

The Fourth one is based on a very good novel of the same name (On stranger tides), way older than the movies and had nothing to do with it. The script was made for that novel adaptation, then for some production reason it was cancelled then rushed into a Pirate Of C. franchise version. Hence the disconnect. Still watchable though, albeit not as good as the first 3. The actors definitely carry it. The Fifth movie is really really crap imho.

8bitAndy

Every time Simone says "jeepers" I wonder if we'll ever get a Jeepers Creepers reaction. Halloween? Maybe?

Nicholas Jensen

This is my favorite thumbnail ever. There have been a lot of amazing ones, but this one wins.

Alexrandom

My personal favourites are 2&3. I like the first one but I find it a bit linear in structure and I feel like the visual effects kind of aged. The visual effects in 2&3 are crazy though. Like top 10 ever. Way better than most recent films... I don't like 4 except for a scene or two and 5 was a real chore to watch for me. Still you can watch all of them, 5 can still be pretty entertaining, just mediocre.

Marko T.

I have seen the first 3 movies few times over the years and they are fun but I always have hard time remembering which thing happens in which movie. They feel same. I couldn't describe the plots. :D

Cubonemaker

These thumbnails give me life

Stewart Denew

Such a good film & fun thing, a bunch of scenes from this & the following films were taken straight from the old Monkey Island adventure games after the adaptation of that fell through. If you like Jack Davenport (the commandant) in particular, I highly recommend a couple of TV series he was involved in; Coupling (sitcom written by Stephen Moffat before he moved onto Doctor Who, very funny) & Ultraviolet (don't confuse with the film) which is a short horror/drama series about vampires.

Phalanx

Can I recommend 'Master & Commander' for the watch list? A great naval combat period piece, just as a counterpart to the more cartoony action in this one.

Crystal

what? I think he has the PERFECT pouting expression in it! 🦆😚

Crystal

sounds like 4&5 might be eligible for CineCringe channel!

Anthony Phillip Reyes

They do go to crap for a sec but I’d argue they’re still worth a watch. Because even the weird ones it would be fun for you guys to poke holes in.

Ruphus

Simone's facial expressions are delightful! During this reaction I think I figured out why. She reminds me of the hobbit children at Biblo's 111th birthday, when they were reacting to Bilbo's story about the trolls. So adorable! Sidenote: I think those were Peter Jackson's kids. Anyways, this was so fun to watch! Keep them coming!

Tales From The Underside .com

To fully appreciate the power of Jack Sparrow you must watch Meat Canyons animation of the Depp/Heard trial.

UnSafeStu

This definitely started out life as a Secret of Monkey Island movie. Once I was shown, I couldn't unsee it.

Martin Nicholls

Well the thumbnail is just terrifying, NGL.

John DelVecchio

Remember the Disney attraction ride came first and many scenes in the movie were modeled after the Pirates Disney ride from the 70/80’s.

UnSafeStu

Ah, and also the black stuff in the buckets they were mopping with was tar. Helps seal little holes in the ships floor.

Texas Anla'Shok

I have to say, that dress really suits you, George.

Kris

It's been ages now and yet somehow I still find myself constantly saying "You guys haven't seen that?!"

Kinokind

Is it just me, or do George's thumbnails get progressively more disturbing. . .

John Prichard

You guys - Pride and Prejudice (2005).

P S

He's a thumbnail genius drifting into madness

Rezblade

There is a YouTube video of someone doing the ride of pirates of the Caribbean I still enjoy it after several years, there is a restaurant in the middle as well to be immersed

Rezblade

I recommend that you guys watch the original pirate Pippi Longstocking 1969 starring Inger Nilsson,

Rezblade

and Jorge what’s that sword behind you I recognize the one from lord of the rings, the larger one and the poster

JoeNotCharles

#2 is even better. The new characters in that one are just incredible. (Except that it doesn't balance the silly and scary parts quite as well - some of the silly parts go a bit off the rails. But the rest more than makes up for it.) After that they get worse with every movie, unfortunately - #3 has some really great scenes but they don't really connect together well to make a good story, and #4 was boring enough that I never bothered to see #5.

gleeful_turtle

1,2, and 3 are great, 4 is pushing it. 2 is defiantly my favorite!

BlueTrane

Great movie. A lot of the gags (such as using the overturned rowboat to breathe underwater) come from a 1952 movie called the Crimson Pirate with Burt Lancaster (one of my dad's favorites from his childhood). Worth a watch if you are interested in that sort of thing.

Tinfoilnation

Useless Trivia -- the studio had NO confidence that this was going to be the blockbuster franchise it turned out to be. Previous attempts at high-seas or pirate films had either underperformed, or failed SPECTACULARLY at the box office. Worse - from their perspective how could anyone anticipate that a movie based upon a theme park ride would be so successful? In fact they had so little confidence it was almost a direct-to-video release. So Bloom didn't so much move from one major franchise to the next - he was actually taking quite a chance on this one - they all were.

Skarr

based on one of the comments during reaction, I'd recommend checking out The Old Guard (2020) for an interesting action flick with some surprises
