Comments

2nd time watching with yall..please do the 2nd one.

W T

I always thought we had it already... wouldn't mind it at all.

Young Blood Priest

The first time I watched the original Jumanji was here on Patreon, which I enjoyed. But honestly, I liked this remake better.

Andrew Smith

I like the original one more but that's only because I saw it when I was a kid. This one is pretty entertaining though.

Nick Scholz

I hope you two watch the sequel.

Marko T.

I haven't seen this yet. Is this a sequel or a remake?

Michael_AP

It's a remake/reboot ;) It has nothing in common with the first one, except for the plot with the board.

Onno Smits

Simone I see the effort you're putting into these intro lines, and I appreciate you for it. 💓

Jayson Phillips

Sequel - had Alan Parish mentioned. Bad guy's name is the same as the hunter in the original.

To stay on the Jack Black train, I recommend "School of Rock" (2003) as an amazing comedy that still holds up today. (Though cutting around the music for the YouTube edit may be a bit of a hassle.)

Odd Thomas

Please watch Zathura! Easily as good as the Jumanjis

JayF

I would have sworn I posted a comment here earlier for George but I don't see it. You had wondered about carnivorous hippos from the early death scene. Hippos do kill around 3k people per year due to being highly territorial.

If you liked JB playing a teen girl you should check out Vince Vaughn doing it in Freaky!

If you give a half of your life, the safety valve of the game lets off some steam and opens a portal to the real world.

Ruby Roundhouse is very much a play on Lara Croft, Tomb Raider.

Elvenwitch

I love the first movie, but it is such a better movie from the script up (minus Robin, RIP) that it is almost shocking. The only other film that I feel this way about is Top Gun Maverick.

Texas Anla'Shok

This movie is better than it has any right to be considering the premise.

Dee Aitch

The Rock is a national treasure.

I think every Youtube channel only has 40% of viewers subscribed or less :) It doesn't make sense to sub unless you really don't want to miss any video. But usually algorithm is really good to know what you like and show it to you. I don't sub to most channels as i don't watch every video and don't want my home feed flooded with videos i won't watch. I think views number is a better stat.

Alan Parish was sucked into game as a real person. In this movie they were in avatars. Although this still feels like a disconnect with time flow. But Alan also was still behaving like a kid, although he grew old. Anyway, i love this movie. I have watched reactions to it dozens of times and it never gets old. Lots of laughing and as you mention an unexpected tear jerking moment at the end. The next part i disliked completely. Not funny, not likable characters, swapping all the avatars to make it "funnier". Akwafina, who i fail to see why is she funny. Meh.

In the first Jumanji, you wondere3d how the first kids in the 1900's changed, after playing the game. Well, remember when they hear howling and the older brother says, "Don't worry. It's just wolves." They, probably came out stronger, braver, and better able to handle the myriad problems lioving back then would entail. Life was rough for homesteaders back then.

Nathan Jasper

I despise these sequels. Alan was literally scared to death to even look at the game but these sequels using the comedy approach tarnished the horror of the world of Jumanji, making one wonder what Alan was even afraid of in the first place. (Spoiler) The kid even wanted to go BACK inside to remember what it was like to be Bravestone. Alan didn't want anything to do with the game ever again. I'll stop, I could rant all day about this.

James Lawson

I would counter though by saying that Alan was sucked in on his own, which would make it vastly different for him handling it. Though also since it "changed" we could imagine that the world changed a bit. Though even in this one there were terrifying creatures that would kill you given half a chance. The "rules" seemed to have changed for how time passes though, so Alan actually was aware of the years spent in there, whereas the kid trapped in this one wasn't aware of how long it had been.

Who is your favorite character? Jack black as a girl, or Jason Bateman in dodgeball?
