No no.... Davy Jones was the lead singer of the group "The Monkeys" 🤣 Look up: "The Monkeys - Daydream beliver" if it doesn't ring a bell ;) (Don't know if there was a real pirate that name) Great reaction as usual.

I've been waiting so impatiently for you to do this one! 15 years later, still the best effects I've ever seen. This is the Empire Strikes Back of Pirates movies - darker and more complex than the first one, introduces the bigger villain (Davy Jones here, the Emperor in Star Wars), big bump in the quality of effects, ends with the roguish black sheep of the heroes "dying" and the rest vowing to rescue him... Also a trip to a swamp to visit a mystic.

On the other hand, like I said after you watched Curse of the Black Pearl, the best parts of this one are way better, but it's also more inconsistent. The whole subplot with the cannibals on the island gets a lot criticism for being pretty racist, and although I laughed a lot the first time I saw it on every rewatch I've skipped over it, because it's so different in tone from the rest of the movie and goes on so long without actually having any impact on the overall story. And, like you said, the fight on the wheel at the end goes full cartoon, which is fun but doesn't really fit with the stakes of the rest of the movie at that point. So it's only MOSTLY an improvement - there are a couple of steps backwards as well.
