American Pie - Patreon Version

Reece Chapford

You guys are great. My wife and I would love to see Cinebinge watch American Pie 2, it's not any better than the original but the soundtrack and jokes are really a time-capsule for a lot of millennials.

Jérémy

This was a fun revisit. It didn't age as terribly as I thought it would. The worst part of it for sure is the whole Nadia subplot. She's not really a character, more of a fantasy and the whole filming her without her consent is super icky. The rest of the movie though made sense with the time period for me. A bunch of dumb teens with barely any sex education and when Google was still in it's infancy so their knowledge is limited. I think Natasha Lyonne stole every scene she's in and I wish she would have been in the movie more.

bnut

It's a comedy. It's hilarious, not 'icky'. It would be 'icky' if it was real.

djKENTO

I just turned 40 and haven’t rewatched this movie in at least 15 years… holy shit… so many awkward memories came flooding back.

djKENTO

All the lacrosse players are dirty at the end and they haven’t even played a game yet. It’s like they never washed their jerseys all season. It’s so awkward.

Patrick

Lacrosse was invented by the natives of Northern America, so it doesn't surprise me that it's the national sport of Canada. It's big here in NY as well.

SnabbKassa

I know people who say this movie ruined their entire college experience, and I can see why.

Mr. Treat

Didnt go to prom. Me and my best friend stayed home, got pizza, and watched Schwarzenegger movies all night. While our other friends texted us about how stupid prom was and how bored they were 👍

Ph4ZeD

Still makes me sad you guys haven't watched the sequels yet :(

JediLounger

Not sure which version they are watching yet, there is no time difference between the unrated and theatrical cuts. Edit: theatrical cut it is. Second edit: you guys seem to be enjoying the antics of John Cho. Have you ever seen Harold and Kumar? All three are worth watching. First one is White Castle (2002). Third edit: You also seem to like Natasha Lyonne, the friend of Tara Reid. I would check out Detroit Rock City (1999). Edit: just finished the movie with you guys. If you want to find out what happens, I would watch the sequels, American Pie 2 (2001) and American Wedding (2003). Beyond that they are direct to video spin-offs.

Richard Davies

Love these films, sequels are definitely worth watching 🙂

redddfer44

So, you're watching American Pie and George will get the channel logo tattooed on his weenis? You've come a long way in a year. I never thought I'd watch this, but the Canadian magic is too strong. Let's go.

Andrew

Porky's, a somewhat cruder predecessor to this.

Logan Nelson

I loved that movie in my early teen days... The shower scene is just iconic lol...

offbrandhotdogs

Fun fact: They used egg whites in the beer to simulate... Kevin's contribution. Also, I'm bummed you guys missed the Blink-182 cameo, right after you sang All the Small Things. Also also, you've probably seen enough teen movies to watch Not Another Teen Movie, if you wanted.

Jack Burton

I used to love movies like this but getting older and the sophomoric comedy just doesn't hit the same. Still obviously a classic 90's teenage movie though... no doubt about it.

Eik104

2 and 3 are fun too, then they get crappy I think

Cubonemaker

Omg I’m so excited to watch this classic with y’all

benjamin freeman

are you ever going to finish the 3rd pirates movie? i just assumed you stopped cuz spooky month but still nothing yet :(

This Hon

Can't wait for the others they react to

Kocyte

I agree Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is a must watch. All three are very good.

Emanuel Solsjö

I watched this movie in the local theatre when i was 15 years old. My dad and my younger brother was also there. Around the white beer scene my father left the theatre with my brother. I m glad that he allowed me to stay.

MikeBdrx

These movies are great! Hope you watch the rest soon!

Thomas Wendel

As soon as Simone recognized Michelle was also Willow I knew you were going to have the best reaction to her last scene. Just like the rest of us Buffy fans did! This was super fun to watch. Thanks

JarHead0351

National Lampoon's Animal House & Porky's are two muct see movies if you enjoy this movie

Kevin Bartelen

With all the praise you've given to Eugene Levy, if you haven't seen Greg The Bunny, you really should.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Eugene Levy is the best. Yep, as far as I know this movie introduced the term "MILF" to the lexicon, at least I'd never heard it before. Someone else mentioned it but the band with the monkey that stopped practicing to watch Nadia was Blink-182, probably not as recognizable because Travis Barker wasn't completely covered in tats yet. Also, I noticed the girl that the boys stop to ask about Finch's reputation, Courtney, played Doug's bride in The Hangover. I hated high school but for some reason high school movies are fun to me. Superbad is my favorite, but this is definitely a 90s classic. And even though I don't really relate to them generationally I also like George Lucas' "American Graffiti", my dad said that movie is basically his high school experience, and "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", written by Cameron Crowe, who actually went sort of undercover in a high school to write about the early 80s teenage experience. And of course I love "Dazed and Confused" because that was just a fun stoner movie that was relatively recent when I was in high school. Speaking of Cameron Crowe, a couple of other movies by him are "Singles" which is SO grunge and pretty fun; it's set in Seattle in the 90s and there are actual members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden IN the movie, and Alice In Chains has a musical cameo. AND "Almost Famous", which is a good movie, I like it anyway, it's semi-autobiographical, about Cameron Crowe's own time as a teenager writing for Rolling Stone Magazine, I heard it was based on his time touring with Led Zeppelin but I also heard that the band portrayed is based on The Allman Brothers, so I'm not sure. Anyway it's cool.

Chase Schleich

No no no. Jim definitely made out the best. Yeah, Oz got a great girl, but Jim got a dominant, kinky, redhead. Jim wins, hands down and it's not even close.

Samuel Bruce

2 and 3 are worth a watch possibly(more Stiffler lol) but the rest are quite a few tiers away

Patrick Brownfield

“We’ll just tell your mother that uh, we ate it all..”

Martin

Watched the reaction. Great, as always. The movie? Not so much. This is a movie that did not age well.

Martin Nicholls

Can I just say on behalf of my generation, we weren't this cringe at that age - is a zeitgeist classic though. I still say "this one time, at band camp" line to this day, it's a bit of a shibboleth for my generation. Also you guys need to watch The Wedding Singer, trust me. Also yes, this movie is the birth of a lot of things.

Andrew Smith

I'd never seen it before and lasted about 20 minutes. This movie aged very poorly.

David Crabtree

Adored this movie when it came out, still adore it. Just as funny now. I hopeyou guys check out the sequels.

Andrew T

omg I feel so stupid. Thanks to this reaction, now I understand Simone's past intros: "it's been..."

Jim Frykman

This was the first time I correctly predicted Simone's intro :D

wroot

There was a lot more giggles in this reaction than us teenagers watching this :D I remember sneaking late night to watch this over some cable channel with a very low volume (no headphones back then) and then discussing with classmates next day :D

Logan Kerlee

This movie's still great! Is it socially acceptable today? Not a chance. Is it a fun memory though? Absolutely! I remember watching this for the first time ages ago, when it was new, I had such a great time! xD Glad you both watched this one. :)

Alan Kobb

The term "Manic pixie dreamgirl" was coined in 2007, but it has examples in films as far back as the 1930s.

Logan Kerlee

Really enjoyed watching this with you two! This is my favorite of the entire series but I love 'em all. I'm down to watch more of them down the road if there's ever a time where ya'll need filler movies. They'll be cheesy fun. :)
