Another great Jon Favreau movie is Zathura, which is basically Jumanji 2...in space

It wouldn't be a Cinebinge reaction if we weren't all annoyed at George for trying to find logic in the simplest of stories. I'd compare him to Spock or Data, which, of course, Simone would get, but fly right over George's head. :-) Simone, I too miss those old Rankin-Bass Christmas specials. Loved the stop-motion characters. Have you ever seen the one they did for Halloween? If not, seek out, "Mad Monster Party". I think you'd enjoy it

i never understood that sentiment of "stop thinking just watch the movie". every movie, no matter how silly or absurd still has to have logic, it has to stick with the rules it establishes or its just a terrible movie. characters that dont abide by the rules the story established for itself is just a Mary Sue. its not like George is asking why Buddy doesnt just called the Avengers for help, cause thats outside of the logic of the movie. hes asking things the movie itself established; ie, the movie established that the north pole has departments like a regular office job or factory, and that Buddy is a regular human so why he doesnt get violently ill from eating nothing but sugar is a logical and reasonable question to ask. no matter how childish or simple a story is, it still requires consistency.

Dammit, George. I was answering an important phonecall and started cracking up because all I hear is "Does the snowman live in a world of flesh"?

About the boss, this movie exxagerates the "evil boss". I'm sure there are plenty of assholes out there runing companies, but assholes eventually fail because unless you can run your company alone, you need good, well motivated employees, and frankly, have you ever seen an asshole motivate anybody outside of the bathroom? Bad bosses drive away the most talented people because talented employees have better options. This boss is doubly ass-holy because he "flew all the way out here" for a make-or-break meeting on Christmas eve. That's just poor planning. Apparrently his book publishing company is failing, and I think I know why. The man-elf saved Dinkledge from working for an asshole, and owes him thanks. By the way, don't get so disgusted at the idea of pasta with candy. pasta is pretty much just flour and eggs, and it has a neutral taste, so it can go well with just about anything. If you think about it, it's the same ingredients as pancakes, but prepared differently. There are loads of recipes on the web for Elf pasta. Most of them use maple syrup for the sauce. I wouldn't make it a meal, but maybe for dessert after a light dinner?

I'm crossing my fingers for a Borat Reaction before the months end

Fun fact: During the montage scene where Buddy is walking throughout New York City and interacting with all the people passing by on the street and sidewalk, none of that was scripted, those were genuine reactions from the people Will Ferrell was interacting with, even the old man looks like Santa. Afterwards, they had to get all those people to sign releases, obviously.

Elon Musk seems to fit as the assholey boss but he also seems to have conned a lot of people into thinking he's good.

George, I'm pretty sure there's no one true lore for Santa Claus. Except that every Finn knows that he doesn't live in the North Pole, but the Earfell in Finland. For a Finnish non-traditional take on Santa Claus and some cool lore, Rare Exports is pretty fun and unique film from 2010. Adventure / fantasy / horror, says IMDB. I guess it was received well enough international, because for his next film, the director got Samuel L. Jackson in the main role.

I usually go for the shortened YouTube reactions, but for this I’m pretty sure I’m gonna want to go full length.

First time watching the movie, and never knew Buddy never heard my name 😂😂😂

Mr. Narwhal is the best part of Elf.

There were actually more violent crimes and a higher crime rate in NYC in the last 2 years of Giuliani being mayor 2000-2001 than any year that followed up to 2021.

Also, is there a rewatch of Lord of the Rings you guys have somewhere???

If I may LOTR nerd for a moment. There was no Liv Tyler she-elf in that scene in the book and it took a cool moment away from Frodo. In the book he squared off against the wraiths himself and said, "By Elbereth and Lúthien the Fair, you shall have neither the Ring nor me!” I love the movies but PJ took a few too many liberties with the story IMO.

the funniest thing about this whole thing is George looking for logic in this movie. Funniest thing I've seen in a while 😂

Oh wow, that IS Ralphie! I couldn't remember which Christmas movie he had a cameo in, it was this one. The elf supervisor that told Buddy he had "special skills" was the same actor who as a kid played Ralphie in "A Christmas Story", which is a classic Christmas movie. I've seen it so many times now I actually change the channel when it's on, but it is a classic.

Can we get a react to Wednesday?

I know he's always trying to look for logic in these in very simple movies. He's like maybe he does have powers, no George don't think too hard lol
