Yeah, Swayze formidably trained -- he completed his ballet training with the Joffrey Ballet, and was actually set to dance a ballet with Baryshnikov choreographed for him by Eliot Feld until he had to have a knee reconstruction.

Young Blood Priest

George I think Nicholas Cage was holding a boom box outside his girls window in Valley Girl but I could be wrong.

Florian Geyer

Ohh god I waited for this one. I gonna cry like a baby at the end, happens every time 😭😭🤧😭

Wyatt Nuxoll

Hmmm...... aliens , shut up george .......... lmao you guys are hilarious 😂

JayF

Regarding Patrick and Demi's chemistry, both were married to other people at the time. Demi was actually married to Bruce Willis. So just give the two actors credit for their performance.

Here's my prediction: George: "How can he do that? He's just a ghost! HA HA HA" Simone: (sobbing) "It's...so...sad"

JayF

You seem to have missed Stephen Root (Milton in Office Space, also in Dodgeball). He was the kindly cop who asked if Molly wanted to press charges against Oda May. Edit - That must have been when I had to alt-tab out for something. I missed you recognizing him.

JayF

Vincent Schiavelli played the subway Ghost who mentors Sam. He was in a shit ton of movies and is considered one of the great character actors. I'm sure you'll see him in other movies if you haven't reacted to anything else with him yet.

JayF

He's probably thinking of John Cusack in Say Anything.

Wyatt Nuxoll

Man, ...... I just wanted to reach through my screen and give simone a hug I know the movie is sad an all but I can't help it , when I see someone crying I always try to cheer them up

If I recall correctly, when this movie came out, Patrick Swayze's notoriety was still riding high off of Diry Dancing, for which he became even more famous than he already was, so as long as they made it clear it had romance in it and it had the hotness that is him, the movie would have done well and they didn't have to worry about genre so much as showing the right things in the trailer that showcased him, his relationship with Molly, and the action. Plus, Woopie's humor. It would have been an automatic draw. Also, back then even more so than now, people would often watch a movie with an actor they liked as long as he was in it regardless of what it was, as long as it wasn't wildly off brand. You guys should absolutely watch Dirty Dancing. You'd have a hard time with the Youtube edit for sexual content, but it's a fantastic story that I think you would both love. Also, you mentioned Sister act with Woopie, and you should react to that too. It's a straight up comedy that would be a perfect funny movie after this one, and she's great in it. It has a sequel, too, and, as good as the first one is, which I adore, the second one is as good, and some, including me, say it's better than the first. I was so excited when this one popped up, and you guys did not disappoint. I love this movie, and this was a fantastic reaction.

Odd Thomas

It was marketed as a love story. I remember my mum coming back from the cinema saying the opening titles scared the shit out of her, lol

ChickensAreRacist

Great reaction! It’s probable someone else already mentioned this, but Whoopi won an Oscar for best supporting actress for this, clearly deservingly so. Great movie. Very much enjoyed George pointing out the many genres in it, I’d never thought of that. Definitely appreciated Simone’s honest emotional reactions that didn’t require words.

Michael Green

Just a wonderfully well made film with performances to match. Great reaction, thank you!

Rob Parry

Good choice and a welcome change from all the popcorn action movies and raunchy comedies, even though those are fun. Hopefully it gets a decent number of views so you guys can start mixing in some more movies like this in the future.

Jason Rivero

If there ever was a tear jerker about a couple being separated by death I would have to give it to What Dreams May Come, especially after Robin Williams passing. That movie always destroys me.

pedantech

"Maybe people just never categorized movies like we do today." The video rental stores had separate sections for each genre.

Jay Davis

G-g-g-g-ghoooosts! Oh... wait.

Monica Alarcon

Okay now you can watch The Naked Gun 2 1/2...

Alec S

Patrick Swayze's mom was a dancer and a choreographer, and he received formal ballet and ballroom dancing training. In fact he began his artistic career as a dancer, rather than an actor.

Amos T Fairchild

You are correct. That's a big spoiler. Ah well. But mostly I just need to get a copy of that other film now...

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Great reaction, although one thing kept driving me nuts, the theme music is almost note for note the same as the theme to the original Battlestar Galactica series lol, well the first part of it anyway. I had a friend in school who met Patrick Swayze several times, she was a dancer and her mother was friends with his mother, and I've heard it from other people too, but she said he was SUPER nice in person. Also, I was still watching the movie when I started the comment, man I forgot so much of this movie, haven't seen it since I was a kid, really gets you at the end, but I'm also kind of a sympathetic cryer so Simone crying kind of also got to me. That said, you have to give props to Jerry Zucker, because he spoofed his own movie. A year after this came out, the Airplane! Team came out with Hot Shots!, in which they spoof the infamous pottery wheel scene.

Com1xguy

Road House would be a great thing to watch as well if neither of you have seen it. I have not watched Ghost in a long time and it still hits me in the feels.

Alex Ch

Yeah, it’s great when the two reactors are watching different movies - Simone empathizing with the characters, George figuring out the logic - and then a scene brings both to the same place.

Martin

George, you had mentioned you were doing a project on old 70’s porn. You know what would really help your research? Boogie Nights! Just sayin’…

Ian O'Donnell

I actually watched this from "Paris" thanks to NordVPN (French Netflix offers the English audio, unlike Amazon here in Germany), so they really should sponsor you.

Opti_Frog

I guess i'm missing some context regarding watching the first porn ever made, because Deep Throat certainly wasn't the first porn movie. Also, i recommend reading up a little about Linda Lovelace. She was not a happy porn star.

Chase Lonnergan

It's rather sad to admit... But my Bachelor's Degree in Film is focused on the Golden Age of Adult Cinema and I actually did a paper on Linda Lovelace.

Kate Suhr

This movie always makes me tear up or close to it. Also Unchained Melody that played in the movie by the Righteous Brothers always reminds me of the movie so it's a sad song for me. Also fun fact the demon sounds are sounds of babies crying that is slowed down and played backwards.
