I would also recommend 1999’s The Thomas Crown Affair and Entrapment for other heist movies.

Ballsac McGee

Matt Damon's role was formerly George clooney's role. benedict did not know what Danny ocean looked like. It wasn't until he met up with Tess at the dinner that benedict find out what he looked like and that he was at his casino.

Jay Davis

I would strongly recommend Heist (2001) not Heist (2015) though that movie IS fairly good. The 2001 Heist has some fantastic dialogue imo. And it's Gene Hackman. One of my all time favorite actors.

Steve H

In real life; having lived though is jail stay, I would torture him to death. I mean really, wouldn't you?

Jesse Coombs

Is Ocean's 12 ever happening, because it's great.

Odd Thomas

2 is nowhere near as good but if I recall correctly, 3 was a bit better (than 2).

Kyle Baker

Oceans 8 is pretty good actually imo.

This movie was such an awakening for me, not only musically, but also for my love of heist movies. The whole trilogy is great, imho. Like Castor_Troy's comment, not everyone is a fan of 12, and people tend to have strong opinions. I think 12 is a fun ride, it just has a different tempo. But, 13 is also my favorite.

Honestly, both are almost just as fun in their own regard. All of them are ridiculous, and all of them deliver on that. Two was still stylish as hell, I barely even understand why folks aren't into it. It's not like they somehow upped the ante with completely fabriacted heist stuff, lol

Odd Thomas

Re: Bernie Mac is great in Transformers. He gets the best line of the entire film (although he only has a minor role)

redddfer44

For some more heist movies that aren't Ocean's anything: Steven Soderbergh also made Logan Lucky with Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, and Daniel Craig. Same sort of really fun times, but in a completely different environment. The Sting, a 70s classic packed with old school charisma with Paul Newman, Robert Redford, and Robert Shaw.

Also I'm not sure, but I wonder if the SWAT van is their own van with a paint job? It's got the Wunderbaum.

I.....really don't think it's okay to just post this here without his permission. Like, yeah, it's public info he put on Reddit himself, that anyone can find with some searching and digging. But it should be up to him whether or not his followers on a completely unrelated platform are exposed to this side of himself from years ago. Some people would want to separate their identity on one platform from things they did years prior on a completely different platform. You could argue that he should delete it then....but you could also just, you know.....not post it. Don't get me wrong, George has always seemed to have a "gives no fucks" kind of attitude, and I wouldn't even be surprised to hear him pop in and say "nah, I don't care". I just don't think someone should take it into their own hands to spread it on different forums than where he originally posted it without him at least knowing first, and not disapproving. Otherwise it gives me like....smutty celebrity gossip vibes. Like one degree away from announcing you found someone's OnlyFans.

It definitely not even remotely a cash grab. The writing is still snappy (and imho takes the absurd-ish dialog to an even funnier place), it's as confusing as it needs to be, once again... just a good time. Really digging the soundtrack, of course. It's different, there are definitely more polarizing aspects to it that I'm not going to spoil here, but honestly, if you're having as good of a time with the first movie and its already super contrived but entertaining plot, number two isn't going to be any less enjoyable, I'd wager. And yes, 13 is great, for many different reasons. Still love 12's general vibe.

fair enough SNACO, ill remove it

Odd Thomas

If we're talking heist movies I would suggest Die Hard 3!

Lars G

I really like Ocean's 12, it might not be a better movie than 11, but I think I personally prefer it. It's a bit different, but definitely worth watching. It changes up the formula a bit, has a very different setting, but it's still a ton of fun and I think it actually helps make Ocean's 13 better because it would have been boring for them to make three identical movies.

Paul G

Twelve really isn’t a bad movie it just follows a different formula than Eleven and Thirteen do which throws off some people. All three are highly entertaining. And I agree with the others that say Eight is good, I liked it. It’s a standalone story with only loose connections to the trilogy which is what I think some people disliked. Sadly, others dislike it simply because it’s an all female cast.

sarCC

8 is really fun, 13 is OK. 12 is maybe one of the most disappointing sequels of all-time, a truly miserable ordeal. It brings to mind those Adam Sandler movies where it's just set in Hawaii so he and his friends can get paid to go on vacation. Instead of the characters(and images) being smart and cool, in 12 it's all jarring, dumb, and boring. It's honestly an annoying movie. It's a hangover of a movie.

Tenn Seven

So in the original Ocean's Eleven (which was a terrible movie, basically just the Rat Pack drunkenly trying to remember their lines) one of the characters dies of a heart attack during the heist. I think Saul's fake heart attack was a nod to that original plot point. Also, I feel like Yan could have just brought those explosives in with him.

Onno Smits

Agreed, the whole series is great!

Ken Schneyer

Ooh, more than that. Many of the audience were people who knew & loved that original film, and I think the director was trying to make you think that the same thing was going to happen!

Pam Nail

8 is actually quite good, but it didn't make a lot of money. It's a sequel, not a prequel. There is no 9 or 10. I've never seen 12 but I love 11 and 13 a lot. That's a lot of numbers. It looks like I'm talking in code.

Brant

The trilogy, 11, 12, and 13 are all good. 12 maybe isn’t quite as good as the others, but they’re all a lot of fun.

Tyler Foster

I left basically the same comment on YouTube, but because I think the movie deserves and arguably needs the support: I think Ocean's Twelve is the best of the series, by a significant margin. It's the opposite of a cash grab -- honestly, the first and third would more easily qualify as 1) a remake, and then 2) a trilogy capper. I understand the desire to crowd-please, but I admire how much thought Ocean's Twelve puts into subverting the audience's expectations. The first movie delivers something, and the traditional sequel formula is to do something bigger and better -- but most sequels are considered inferior to the original, so you'd think Ocean's Twelve would get more credit for resisting that impulse. On top of that, I admire the theory that Matt Singer put forth on IndieWire in an article that I believe is titled "Ocean's Twelve is a Great Sequel About How Hard It Is to Make a Great Sequel." At the very least, you should watch both Twelve and Thirteen to see both approaches, the one that is subversive (Twelve) and the one that delivers more what the audience expects (Thirteen).

Lyonheart86(BryonH)

i was going to walmart to buy an xbox.. but i saw this post... my plans have now changed

Com1xguy

I would say check out 13 and skip 12. 13 is just as fun imo as 11.

james repka

I agree. I especially liked the soundtrack of twelve, but I also liked the change in setting, and what they did with Linus' character.

Thijs

Great to see you enjoying this one so much. I personally also enjoyed 12 and 13, haven't seen 8 so far. My suggestions if you like heist type movies and series are: The Thomas Crown Affair (movie 1999) The Italian Job (movie 2003) Leverage (TV series 2008 - 2012 and apparently there's a new one being shown at the moment) Hustle (TV series 2004 - 2012) (apologies in advance if these have been suggested before)

lespea

The Thomas Crown Affair would be a great reaction video. I don't think it's aged particularly well (for me anyways) but of course the Sinnerman scene is still amazing

REDR58

Another heist movie that you two should watch soon is Heat!

Jack Burton

Heat is such a badass movie. Everything about it. One of the best shootout scenes in cinema history, if not the best.

Andrew

Check out Heat and The Italian Job!

Elvenwitch

I enjoy Ocean's 8 quite a bit. There was the usual "What? A movie with women as the main cast?!" BS that tends to happen whenever the testosterone level of a non-romcom drops below a certain level. But I think it is worth a watch.

Kocyte

A great heist movie from 2006 is Inside Man with Denzel Washington and Clive Owen.

Anodyne

Some of the small touches are hilarious but easy to overlook. When Rusty walks in to the resumed card game to find Danny there, the very first lines in the background as he enters the room are Danny (Clooney) asking the actors how hard it was to transition from TV to movies...

Anodyne

And I'm sure Brad PItt hamming it up as a doctor doing CPR - in that hair! - is a call-back to Clooney's early career as well...

ShellPuppy

"Simone, are you ready to start the show?" "George, if you ask me that question again...you will not wake up the following morning"
