This was a fun reaction! So glad this won the poll. Can't wait to see what's next. As for Ocean's Twelve, it does feel like it was written as an afterthought from the first movie's success, but not so much as a money grab. It feels more like a bunch of the actors just wanted to do it all again and have a blast filming. It's still a fun movie and worth a watch, but I don't see it ever winning any polls.

This, itself is a remake. The original is from 1960. Also with a star studded castt, with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. to name a few.

Still the best of the series. I also like 13, but not 12. The reason why this one especially is good is because this it’s breezy. It manages to have a twisty plot without making it hard for the audience to follow along. I mean—all the movies are cool, but this one doesn’t have to work so hard to earn that.

My favourite joke in the movie is Brad Pitt eating throughout the movie and finally in the last scene he gets heart burn.

George, good job on the Barney rubble bit, I needed that shit spelled out for me and I still had a hard time with it.

Ocean’s 12 tries to get a little too clever and loses some of the charm of the original. 13 is back to formula, and it’s a fucking blast. Ocean’s 8 (which is not a sequel but a spin-off - you’ll understand if you see it) is an all-female cast starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway, and it is straight-up delightful. The lesson is that heist movies may not be easy to make, but they should LOOK easy, and if you can pull that off, there’s no bottom to the well of money.

I believe you're correct with Ocean's Twelve. Obviously, the first one was a massive success. But I seem to recall reading that the biggest reason they wanted to do a sequel was that the cast all loved working together and with Soderbergh. And honestly, when Clooney, Pitt, Damon, and Roberts say "hey we want to make a movie together" what studio is possibly going to say no?

Skinny_Obelix

I love how it doesn't take itself seriously. But boy I'd love to see some serious heist movies like Heat or Inside Man

Damn. Clooney has a helluva face

People will recommend the original, but despite an amazing cast, it’s just boring to the modern sensibility. This one was shot in the most glitzy parts of Vegas, the original seems to have been shot in a Best Western. Worth a watch from a Hollywood history perspective, but you need to have low expectations.

A related movie, that's an excellent winter watch, is Out Of Sight. Directed by the same director, Steven Soderbergh, and also starring George Clooney, it's possibly the best film of them both. Clooney plays a con man and this could almost be seen as a prequel of sorts to Ocean's Eleven. It also stars Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, and Jennifer Lopez in her best performance.

Matthew Johnson

The scene in the hotel between Lopez and Clooney is among the sexiest scenes I have ever seen. Highly recommend.

Cool, thanks for the tip! I've skipped all the Fate Worlds personally because I'm suspicious of the "awesome thing with another awesome thing!" worldbuilding approach. But this sounds really fun.
