No problem on the gap in TV reactions guys, you do more than enough to ensure regular content. Just means I will have time to play a game or (sigh) work on accounting. George I hope you enjoy your vacation, please stay safe and bring back some stories. As always, my continued thanks for the entertainment.

Jay Davis

Wait. Wut? You guys aren't strapped into chairs with things in your eyes like Malcom McDowell just watching movies and TV 24/7 for our enjoyment??? This can't be!!!

Jeff K

But but but… what about the promise that as long as I kept throwing coins at your feet and yelling “Dance, monkeys, dance!” you would oblige without hesitation??

Stu84

If you guys are looking for a short show to get through look into Generation Kill (only 7 episodes). Its all based on a reporters actual experience during the Iraq invasion and is written by the writers of The Wire.

Jeff K

And features James Ransone, the actor who plays Ziggy, as one of the main characters.

Kim-Christian Nielsen

No problem. NO PROBLEM. There are some of us which is this show is like CRACK. I need my Wire-fix with George and Simone.

Kim-Christian Nielsen

I need my Wire-fix with George and Simone. I just got a raise at work. Is there a Patreon tier which lets my micro manage your lives. Where is the kappa icon?

David Dotting

Enjoyed the reaction as always! <3

Jeff K

I, too, would like to sign up for the tier that just gets them to react to the entire series all in a row.

Christoph Plank

Please react to World's Greatest Dad with Robin Williams

I don't know if I agree that Jimmy's bender in 2.8 is worse than Bunk's in season 1. Bunk was sitting in a stranger's bathroom, lighting his own clothes on fire. Jimmy just wrecked his car, got laid, and got some blood on a pillow...

Great times! I think Bodie is wearing his shirt inside out. I don't think McNutty went from 0 to 100, though. He's a self-destructive guy who wanted to believe his shit turn at the job meant a real change in his life: no real police work, more time for the family. He told himself and his wife that he was a changed man and he believed it ("Any fool can say he different", like D'Angelo said.). Elena turned him down, job still sucked, he realised he hadn't changed at all. All hope got blown to bits. The higher you get, the longer the fall. (I've known a few self-destructive alcoholics, my dad included, and McNutty's behavior is all too familiar.) If you want to see an extremely feel-bad movie about human trafficking, check out Lilja 4ever. Off-channel probably; it's not exactly a crowd pleaser.

Jeff K

Be honest: you’re only suggesting that movie because of where George’s mind went in one particular scene of this show last week, aren’t you. (I'm not spoiling the scene not because of The Wire, but because obviously it's the catalyst of the entire movie World's Greatest Dad.)

Jeff K

Can’t wait for next week. Episode 9 introduces two of the best characters in the entire series. One of them is arguably my favorite.

Jay

Herc and Carv's bumbling cop duo provide some of the show's funniest moments. Gus Triandos 😂😂

Bennett Holleman

The guy on the dartboard is Robert Irsay, owner of the Baltimore Colts who became hated in Baltimore after moving the team to Indianapolis.

Joaquin Stick

I think the scene with McNulty crashing the car a second time is him trying to make something work when it clearly hasn't in the past, just like his marriage

Green Nolan

Love your reactions as always. Ziggy and the duck: Ziggy was always "the boss's kid" Early in his life (like up until 14 (or whatever) years old) he was a cute kid that always made the stevedores laugh because he was "the boss's funny kid Ziggy" (I recognize he probably wasn't the "boss" yet, but probably still higher up) As he's gotten older, his antics that worked as a kid are no longer funny. So he's been trying to "be a man" to make his father proud. He psychology blames everyone for his inability to be respected. He feels like he will never be respected because he's always thought of as that zany child. Ie, "his wings have been clipped" That's why he loves the duck so much. If you notice, in the scene when he hears that the duck can no longer fly he relates to it. When Ziggy comes into the bar with the duck, he's continuing the antics from childhood but he has a kindred spirit with him. At least that's how I've always taken it. And I've literally watched the wire dozens of times

Rav Low

I still read Ziggy as a tragic character. He grew up with this blue collar promise of "making it if you work hard" and he grew up old enough to work, and the work just wasn't there. Everything he does makes me think of someone who is just broken from that broken promise of prosperity.

Travis H

Really hope you come back to s3 once George comes back from his vacation. Just a fyi though Simone is going to probably have problems with a certain plot at the beginning of S3. I’m not going to spoil it, just wanted to give a heads up.

John Richards

A little more "Wire and reality" trivia - The boat cop is played by an actual boat cop. Marine Unit Sgt Claude Diggens is played by a veteran of the BPD Marine unit, not a professional actor. It's his only acting credit.

Jay

And we meet the real Jay Landsman next week (he plays Mello).

PIG

I was really hoping they just roll to S3 too… I guess we are.

Joe

McNulty did not go from 0-100. He's been broken since season 1.

Joe

Rawles isn't the problem. The system is. I think wishing him imprisoned with gangsters who would murder him is a bit harsh :)

Michael Handy

McNulty's an alcoholic, dude only needs one bad night to go all the way back.

Hexon66

But it really exposed Dominic West's acting ability though. Maybe that's what was meant by worse.

Thoko

I agree that they are too harsh: he is not evil. But he is definitely more unpleasant than he needs to be.

Pierce

bro the two of them being confused by ziggy trying to be funny with the duck in the bar was so head-scratching lol.. baffling. how can you be confused that he was trying to be a clown cuz the lols are the only way he feels wanted.. idk what they thought was happening there
