I love how Simone gets excited for the Pegasus. Also, flipping a coin as a tie breaker and calling "heads" for Highlander lol, wait till you watch it, too funny. Also, this movie is based on a Stephen King story, but he wrote it under his other pen name, Richard Bachman. Oh, also, "Mick", that old rebel leader dude, is played by Mick Fleetwood, the drummer from Fleetwood Mac.

Odd Thomas

Ah well. Looking forward to Highlander!

Some communities would be the cinebinge army or cinebingeans, but it looks like were the Cinebinge Dickheads

Bruce Bromley

This film is full of little trinkets of trivia. You two know Jesse Ventura when he was with Arnold in Predator. The host was Richard Dawson, who beyond being an actor known for the sitcom Hogan's Heroes, was the host for the game show Family Feud. He was known for kissing all the female contestant, no matter their age.The man who played the host"s muscle worked as Arnold's stand-in and stunt double for several films.

MikeBdrx

Yes! This just made my Saturday a little brighter!

Odd Thomas

Maria Conchita Alonso is also in Predator 2; such an underrated sequel. I hope you get to it at some point. Bill Paxton & Danny Glover from Lethal Weapon are in too

Odd Thomas

Three words: Last Action Hero!

MikeBdrx

to answer your question about what movie is the closest with its future prediction. I'd say Idiocracy is spot on!

Young Blood Priest

Simone George, there was a sequel to this two years later on television. It was a game show called American Gladiator.

AC10

COIN FLIP!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! 😬😁😀🤪

droodly

Jesse Ventura was a professional wrestler turned actor (you saw him in Predator) turned governor of Minnesota USA.

idomineo

Jesse Ventura was Blaine in Predator

Eddy V Ruiz II

The dancers were a character of their own... the Solid Gold Dancers. Solid gold was a variety show from the 80s and the dancers showed up in movies all over the place like Scrooged.

Spacedone

Also the guy who played the old guy who removes the collars and is leading the rebels was Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac, and in the movie he refers to his music being burned and Arnie calls him Mick at one point. Also, he now looks like his character in this movie.

Spacedone

Nothing wrong with laughing at this movie, it's very cheesy but also very entertaining. Perfect 80s movie.

AstralCars

The next Arnold movie is Kindergarten Cop.

TGrimace

Fun fact: Richard Brennan (who wrote the novel the movie was based on) is a pen name for Steven King. Granted the movie is pretty far from the book, but still, it's fun that Steven King wrote the book

Funny That

Fantastic movie that clearly had a lot of influence on pop culture... like the Shinra music in FF7. (How did I never hear that before?)

Martin Nicholls

Movie is silly: it's obviously 2020, not 2019. Come on guys. The lore of The Running Man hits a little too close to home - obviously the game show itself is a bit absurd, but the rest of it..

Brendan Rafferty

boooo Highglander was the better choice booo

Com1xguy

I am sure we will see it soon. At least they are finally going to watch it!

Com1xguy

This was the movie that introduced me to Maria Conchita Alonso. Boy howdy!

People are gonna come in here and say that Idiocracy is the best predictor of the future. It's a funny movie, don't get me wrong, but a lot of people sign on to the message of that movie without really considering it. I'll keep it very surface level because I'm not sure if you guys have seen it, but the movie basically says that "stupid people" are genetically inferior to "smart people." And furthermore it says that stupid people will only breed more stupid people. It's a reductionist, eugenics heavy perspective that is damaging to adopt as a world view. Another interesting thing to look at when talking about which sci-fi show/movie got the most right is to look at the influence moving in the other direction. Sci-fi affects the way we design the inventions of the future. People who grew up watching Star Trek, for example, might design new products that remind them of things they saw on the show. Therefore, some of the things that Star Trek could be credited with "getting right" might only exist in their current form because someone saw it on Star Trek in the first place.

Generators

i feel like its more... poorly educated people will raise/elect poorly educated people. and its a downward spiral. but also like you said, its a comedy, which means its exaggerated for comedic purposes.

FranciscoGios

I like Arnie, but boy this movie is not it for me.

sarCC

Yay! This is one of Arnie's funniest movies!

JayF

It's already been established that we are Cinebitches. This was something one of us came up with apparently.

Mitchell Bowker

ohhh man, you guys missed his buzzsaw one-liner. :( "What happened to Buzzsaw" "He had to split". A classic!

Gary Fixler

I vividly recall everyone laughing about how cheesy this movie was in the 80s, but also loving it, including me.

Ian Marshall

They've already reacted to Total Recall. Search their archive and you'll find it.

Bruce Bromley

You call that a coin flip Simone? :-) Besides a I thought the D&Der that you are would be using your icosahedron. Even #'s for one pick, odd #'s for the other.

Haye Zeus

Not my favorite Arnie. Too silly for my taste but fun nonetheless. I’d recommend Last Action Hero now that ya’ll have gotten a better sense of Arnie movies

Logan Kerlee

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed when I realized that this was a coin flip between this and Highlander.. but then I realized that you both would be watching that soon, so it's all good! Besides, I'm pretty sure that I voted for both along the way. :) This reaction was a TON of fun to watch! xD All those ridiculous shots and kills.. hahaha, the one liners or Arnold being Arnold. What's the best part? I have no idea! hahaha, the movie's just a bunch of fun. I remember first watching this as a youngster. I had to of been something like 10 years old, I think. Pretty sure that my dad rented it and I watched alongside him. This movie's VIOLENT and fun. Definitely not one for kids but like I said, I watched it. This wasn't a childhood fave of mine but it had Arnold so it earned points because of that. So anyway, I guess there are plans to remake this? I'm not too hyped for the idea.. but we'll see how it runs out. Won't have Arnold so I'm not sold on the idea. Who do you think would be a decent replacement for him in this movie right now?

Logan Kerlee

The Predator 2 wasn't nearly as cool as the first. I enjoy it but I can't recommend that anyone goes out of their way to watch it.

Travis

(Insert political party) wants it this way

MatthewBrown74m

I laugh all the time in this movie so you guys laugh all the time :) the movie is so cheesy yet so frinken awesome

Timothy Burrows

Man is there a big movie in the 80s that John Parr didn't write a song for? It's his song "Restless Heart" in the end credits.

Tanx

lol Jesse "The Body" Ventura has had quite the career, he was in the Navy, a pro wrestler in the WWE(WWF at the time), an actor(Predator, Demolition Man, and plenty more action movies) oh and then he decided to take it easy and just be the Governor of Minnesota. Yup two future governors in Predator...who'd have thought.

Detective Dick Durkin

When it comes to accurate portrayals of the future, the movie that immediately comes to mind is the Denzel Washington/Bruce Willis movie The Siege. It’s not sci-fi, but for a movie released in 1998, it is STUNNINGLY accurate in predicting the next 10-15 years of US history.

Michael Bourke

The movie is VERY loosely based on the novel by Richard Bachman aka Stephen King. In the book he is hunted down but out in the world, not an arena, and not by cheesy characters like these. It had a much darker ending too.

BubblyRainbows

I know this is an old reaction, but I had to point out that you missed my favorite part at the end of the credits, delivered in a cheery announcer voice: "If you'd like to be a contestant on The Running Man, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to 'ICS Talent Hunt,' care of your local affiliate, and then go out and do something really despicable. I'm Phil Hilton. Good night, and take care."

David Lonewolf Wright

Oh, there was a joke announcement thing during the tail end of the credits I had never heard before.

pinkdino99

Cadre is the made up name of the Cola beverage that sponsors Killian and the show.
