Let the weird journey begin this morning.

Young Blood Priest

Can’t wait to watch this reaction. This is a fun flick.

Matt

Awesome all Martin McDonagh's films are great imo hope you check them all out, Also I just finished your reaction to Children Of Men and I very highly recommend Alfonso Cuarón's 2018 film ROMA

Martin

Awesome! I’ve been hoping you two would react to this at some point.

John

Aw fuck yeah! This is one of my absolute favourite movies! You guys fucking rock for doing this! His new movie was pretty good too but this is definitely my favourite of all the Martin Mcdonaugh movies. This is actually a perfect movie! Never known anybody to not like it. Three billboards outside ebbing missouri is probably a close second :):)

Śéáń

I for one appreciate George's marathon of suffering for our continued entertainment.

Martin

It was great watching you two be as captivated by this movie as I was the first time I saw it. Two more movies from Mcdonaugh that I hope to see you react to: Three Billboards in Ebbing, Missouri, and The Banshees of Inisherin.

John

Glad you said it was perfect. Its hard to explain to somebody until they see it for themselves

Dextrohelium

Never seen that one before, that was a damn good movie!

Daniel Popp

Kens death always makes me tear up. Reminds me of a saying that went something like “A good person can do terrible things, just as a much as terrible person can do good things.” I think Ken falls into the former category of a good person who has done terrible things. And in the end, he did a good thing in trying warn Ray to save him because he knew Ray was worth saving.

Astraeos

Wow. Didn't expect this. Thank you for watching this movie. This movie is amazing. Its emotional, its hilarious, and yeah. Just holds a dear place in my heart. Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrel just absolutely nail this movie. Farrels vulnerability in particular is just pretty moving.

King_Panarisi

As a Belgian i can now finally say i saw this movie. Thx Cinebinge! Also Bruges or Brugge (in Flemish) is in the Flemish part of the Country so they speak Flemish/Dutch there. Can also say that Charleroi is the shithole of Belgium.

PastaDon

Man, when George says "Is he gonna make it down??".. God, I love this film.. McDonagh made it perfect in my opinion..

Monica Alarcon

I'm surprised you didn't recognized Jordan Prentice the little person actor. He played the giant bag of weed in Harold and Kumar go to white castle...

Jim Johnson

Now do The Banshees of Inisherin for more Farrell/Gleeson antics

Jeff I.

So glad you two enjoyed this one so much! Like some others have mentioned, I'd highly recommend The Banshees of Inishiren. It also features Gleeson and Farrell again and was written and directed by the same guy as this one. It's a similar mix of comedy and drama though much more subdued overall.

Odd Thomas

Fair warning, Banshees is much bleaker. It's well written and performed but honestly I doubt I'll ever feel the need to revisit it.

Dor

Thanks for doing this. It flew a little under the radar, before McDonagh was as famous, so it never wins polls but basically everyone who watches it loves it.

Odd Thomas

You should def watch Three Billboards too, it's by the same director and for my money is even better. Amazing script & an Oscar winning role for Frances McDormand. Then there's The Guard, by McDonaugh's brother; another great comedy/drama with Brendan Gleeson

JayF

Too bad Simone be robbing all those people...

sarCC

Yes! I love this movie. Easily McDonaugh's least cringey work. (Though, Seven Psychopaths is a pretty good one, too. That was the last movie of his I enjoyed.)

Ben

I love this film so much, and I'm glad you both did too. I doubt I was the first, but I was one of the people recommending this to you early on, so knowing you both "got" it is very satisfying! The whole scene near the end with Ken at the top of the tower is beautifully done, I find it very emotional! a lot of that is to do with the song "On Raglan Road". Bit of trivia, the song was originally a poem by Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh, and was later put to music using the traditional Irish tune "The Dawning of the Day". The version you heard in this was by The Dubliners. Maybe you can do another Irish/Irish-related movie reaction on St. Patrick's day as it's coming up?

Travis

The writer/director of this also wrote “The Banshees of Inisherin” which reunites Farrell and Gleason. I thought it was the best new movie I saw this year. It has this same type of absurd humor that makes you burst out laughing.

Blkm44

One of my favorite movies of all time. Looking forward to this one

david moreland

Can't recommend Death at a Funeral enough if you want another dark British comedy, though this veers closer to comedy than In Bruges.

Allen Dyne

This movie is so brilliantly designed and everything is set up and paid off. Even Jimmy's death is set up expertly by Ray getting shot on the boat, they don't show you Ray's reaction to the shot straight away the first thing they show you is the exit wound, so it's established that the bullets Harry is using will go straight through Ray. Even Ken's suicide is foreshadowed as when Ray comes to the bar with the coke and Ken says he wants some Ray says "I thought you were laying off it because it makes you depressed" so as this is all going on he's in a depressive episode and probably wanted to find a good reason to kill himself and he sees saving Ray as that reason.

Pedro Pinheiro

If you haven't had quite enough award-winning Martin Mcdonagh films with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, Banshees of Inisherin is up for... well, all the awards.

JayF

Just finished the reaction and I enjoyed it. I did have an issue with George and Simone's video playing very slightly faster than mine for some reason. Did anyone else get that? I'm in the US so the format should be the same so far as I know.

Logan Kerlee

I'm so glad that you both FINALLY watched this movie! Holy crap, it's an AMAZING film, isn't it? We were completely honest, didn't over or under sell. This movie's amazing. It's a very dark comedy that made me feel a load of emotions. This one's up there on my favorites list. :) GET WELL SOON GEORGE!! xD I don't care if this is an old post, you better have improved! :P <3

FranciscoGios

The Belgian question is probably because it’s in the middle of Europe and as long as the whole continent is not in a war it’s useless

Skinny_Obelix

Banshees of Inisherin is far more relatable, it's like a confrontation with a fear we probably all have at some level. It makes my stomach drop every time I think about that movie, and I think about that movie a lot more than I would have expected me to do.

droodly

Yup. I had that happening too. I hadn't seen this before (IT WAS GREAT!), so rented it from iTunes to watch along and had to adjust the cinebinge playback every so often to make them match up.

DinChild

I knew they'd love this one ;-) I didn't expect it to win the poll, but I love that they give all them an honest shot. Who else is gonna react to movies like this? Glad you did it! I'd recommend The Death of Stalin if you're interested in another movie that handles balancing tones almost effortlessly.

W T

So much I still haven't seen this year, I'm also about to watch Fiennes in The Menu - damn, McDonagh is a heavy hitter by virtue of this movie alone. Seven Psychopaths is great as well, definitely a recommendation on my part.

W T

The entire setup with the düm-düm bullets is insane, the tiny moment of him reloading on the bridge, the throwaway-gag scene with his gun man... this is such a well thought out movie, it inspires awe. A fairy-tale fucking fillim.

Brant

So glad you guys decided to do this one. It’s on my once-per-year rewatch list. The score by Carter Burwell, who does all of the scores for the Coen Brothers movies, is an all time great. Now that you’ve seen this one, you need to watch Martin McDonagh’s latest film, The Banshees of Inisherin, which reunites Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. All of McDonagh’s films are worth reacting to, but I think In Bruges and Banshees are his best.

Sean Maher

I second this. As someone who lives in Ireland, I was afraid that the humour and dialogue would go over a lot of peoples' heads if they weren't from Ireland but it seems to be really popular abroad, which makes me very happy.

Astraeos

The Death of Stalin is one of the finest comedies of the last 20 years, easily. I've only seen one youtuber react to it, and it'll probably stay that way for a long, long time. That's a movie that I forsee never winning any sort of poll

An Inanimate Fucking Object

So glad you guys watched it! And loved hearing that it's now one of Simone's favorite movies! Everything about it is just perfect--the writing, the acting, the music, the alcoves. A masterpiece.

Tim Nicolle

Belgium is traditionally made fun of by the British in cinema and television (Monty Python does it a lot) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BuRmG9tumg). Firstly its because Britian helped support the fledgling country when it revolted and split from the Netherlands in the 1830s and Britian used it as an excuse to ensure the French didn't get hold of it and as a neutral buffer state between France and Germany. Because of this, from the beginning it was stereotyped in popular culture as a small and insignificant country. The way the Germans used Belgium as a route twice to attack the French didn't help! I lived in Brussels for a year and lets say they don't help themselves either- there are the Walloons and Flemish (French and Dutch speaking and cultures) and they hate each other with a passion.

Kim Murphy

"Dubliners love to label people. If you were born and raised outside of Dublin (and in Ireland) – you are a ‘Culchie’. ‘Culchie’ is a pejorative term in the Hiberno-English dialect for someone from rural Ireland. However, in recent years the ‘Culchies’ have reclaimed this as term of endearment and pride of their small town or country background."

Scott G

Thank you for doing this movie because I may have never rewatched it because I'd forgotten how goddamn amazing it is.

Ashton Lewis

One of my top 5 films; I'm glad you both liked this one. Martin McDonagh has a really great filmography. A suggestion for the channel (which I'm sure you've heard before) is Seven Psychopaths. Also Banshees of Inisherin (a bit like marmite that one, but I love it). McDonagh is also a playwright, which I think you can see in the way he makes his films. He wrote my favourite play, The Pillowman. You should both give it a read, I think George will like it especially for how dark it is.
