George. Belgium has been the butt of a joke a long time. Spevically with the likes of Monty Python. The Hitchhikers Guide of the Galaxy refers to Belgium as the rudest word in the universe.

You MUST check out other McDonagh movies. His most recent is The Banshees of Inisherin and stars Corin Farrell and Brendon Gleeson again. Seven Psychopaths and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri are fantastic too. They all have the same style of dark humor.

Top 3 movie for sure. No one straddles the line better between understated comedy and heartbreaking drama like McDonagh. However, I still consider In Bruges to be his finest work full of pleasure and pathos. Plus, it has my favorite line delivery ever in a McDonagh film: “You’re a fucking inanimate object!” It cracks me up something fierce every time. Lol

Martin McDonagh didn't necessarily have a bad time in Brughs but he did find it a very boring place hints the location for this movie 😅. My uncle worked in Belgium throughout his 20s no work in Ireland back in the day and he loved brughs he found it a great place in his time he spent there, Fun fact all 3 of them reunited for another film together recently last year In Brughs has become a classic ever since it came out and fans wondered when they would get back together again for another film again they did with The Banshees of Inisherin which I thought was very good very different from In Brughs alot more heavier in its tone and a great dark comedy and a great irish film Imo

Love this movie. McDonagh's movies can be a little hit or miss for me, they're all worth watching, but I find the balance of his dark comedy can be a little too bleak at times. In Bruges really threads the needle and hits the sweet spot. Don't know how you pick movies for votes, but I'd love to see you guys react to Michael Clayton. Maybe the best George Clooney film, and incredibly acting by Clooney, Tom Wilkinson and Tilda Swinton. Also written and directed by Tony Gilroy.

This is one of my favourite movie ever. (And I'm Belgian ! :p) Please watch every movie by Mcdonagh. 7 psychopaths isn't as good as In Bruges but it has it's moments. Three Billboards is better but still not as perfect of a script as In Bruges. Some moments are still gut wrenching (I won't spoil anything but some dialogue between the chief of police and the main character had me instantly teary eyed. Finally Banshees of Inisherin is a incredible movie. The script is finally back to In Bruges levels of greatness and the actors are beautiful. Hope you do all these movies. :)

Not a feature film, but McDonagh's Oscar-winning short film Six Shooter also well worth the watch and it is available on Youtube.

LOVE In Bruges, it’s one of the few dark comedies that doesn’t go too dark to the point where it is miserable to sit through. I had that issue with Three Billboards, I hated every character and it was hard to laugh at what was going on (I also don’t think he knows how to write for American characters). Still need to see Banshees.

Belgium is like the little brother of Western Europe, everyone is taking jabs, but don't you dare say anything bad about it. The Dutch, the French and the English all make fun of Belgium, but it's also their biggest ally.
