I love this movie, so many outstanding performances. Crazy that you have only seen Goodfellas from Scorsese. He has such a great movie catalogue. My favorites are probably Taxi Driver, Shutter Island and The Departed.

The chest pounding and chanting thing with McConaghey is an exercise he does before scenes. Leo saw and suggested they use it in the movie.

Wait, are houses in Canada really that expensive? George said $2 million would barely buy a house there. Unless he was joking that seems insane.

just a little heads up: youtube recongizes the classic 'beep' tone that is used for censoring and classifies it as a slur word,to avoid that most bigger youtubers use some other sound, for example a funny word from the movie or so

At one point in the movie he says that rich people don't invest in penny stocks because they're smart. That's not really true. Some penny stocks are bad investments, but once upon a time a lot of the big companies that you know today were penny stocks. The problem for rich people is that they really can''t invest in penny stocks because the companies are too small. The average penny stock represents a company that is probably only worth a few hundred thousands of dollars in total. Imagine a rich investor who's net worth is $100 million. He finds a promising company that is selling for 50 cents a share, and is worth $400,000. To him it isn't worth the time or effort to purchase a few shares of the company, and it would take weeks or months and a lot of broker fees to get an appreciable portion of the company buying shares. If he is really interesed he will purchase the entire company outright by making a buyout offer to the board of directors.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but the guy who introduces Dicaprio in the conference at the very end is the real Jordan Belfort

None of "the big companies you know today" were ever penny stocks. When you look at historical prices they are adjusted for stock splits.

I know I'm always going on about Ravenous(1999) because it's amazing and something you guys should totally watch, but if you want more Scorsese I strongly recommend Bringing Out The Dead. It gets lost in the shuffle of all of his other movies but it really is fantastic.

You mentioned how thin Matthew was here, and I've also just watched your reactions to True Detective (great reaction by the way!), so I wanted to sort of semi-explain what you're looking at. All around 2013/14 he filmed this, True detective, and Dallas Buyers Club. For that movie he played someone with AIDS and lost 35lb. So I don't know exactly what order any of these programs or sets of scenes were shot in, but I know Dallas was shot before True, so I have to assume to use the weight loss to their advantage they filmed all of the True present day scenes first, and then he was able to get his healthy weight back for the '95 - '02 scenes. That's commitment (and an Oscar), baby!

Just going to post it here since it is the most recent post: Lance Reddick has died. He was in so many amazing films/tv shows (I had to Google to make sure he wasn’t in this movie, it would have made complete sense if he was). From things that Cinebinge has covered he was the Hotel Manager Charon in the John Wick movies, and most importantly Daniels from The Wire. He was also Sylens in the Horizon games, and he was great in Fringe. He made everything he was in better, this one hurt. RIP Lance Reddick

Michael Bourke

A great actor with such incredible presence on screen and an amazing voice. Loved that he had been voicing the dragon Thordak on Legend of Vox Machina. It's Fringe though that I always think of with him. Such a career. RIP.

This movie desperately needed an editor. Entire scenes seem to repeat. And, no way some of the things he said happened in the office actually happened. The infamous ludes scene is another one. Meds don't work forever. They go bad, stop working in a few years. But here they are, working 2 decades later? Complete bs. Can't be surprised that a shady fraudster would make some stuff up to sell a book.

Jenny Tolls

Nah it was the perfect length. I loved every bit of this movie! Of course some of the things that happened were exaggerated for our entertainment like the midget tossing. But the hookers in the office was real. And drugs can still have an effect on you years later. It may not be as potent but it will still get ya.

Russ Verbofsky

Poor George in having to edit aka censor this movie.

Please now watch Wall Street it’s a great movie, great actors and a great father, son Sheen off!
