The Last of Us: Season 1 - Episode 6 & 7 - Patreon Version

Episode 6 is one of my favorites. I like how we get see more vulnerable side of Joel that we don't really see like this in the game. That scene with him and Tommy talking is very different. Episode 7 is based the DLC Left Behind that was released after the game.

Hope Simone is feeling better by the time I'm posting this!

I like Episode 7, but it certainly felt like it was based on DLC, if that makes sense? I already knew that it was going in and wasn't sure if that just clouded my judgment, but I was texting with my brother after it aired, and said "Yeah that episode is based on DLC," and (he didn't know what DLC stands for) once I explained what that meant, he was like, "Oh, that definitely makes sense." It's a good episode, and I know a lot of people have it among their favorites from the first season, but it almost felt kinda tacked on to me?

My guess is that the fireflies showed up at the mall in the morning. Probably someone to fetch Riley to take her to her new posting or to relieve her (she was guarding a stash there). That was my assumption on how they got Ellie.

Grand Moff Slackin'

Yeah same. They were going to Atlanta the next day and the mall was a Firefly hideout so someone probably showed up to look for Riley. I would guess Ellie would hide in the mall since she wouldn’t be able to go back to the QZ due to the wound.

No pun in ten did? NO PUN IN 10 DID??? Unsubscribed!

My favorite episode is Episode 7! Just wanted to say that since it seems like it sort of flied under the radar on social media in comparison to the parallel episode 3.

Jeff K

FYI: at the end of episode 6, that cover of the Depeche Mode song is performed by Craig Mazin's daughter, Jessica. And just to note, in case you forgot, it's a cover of the song that started playing on the radio at the end of the first episode.

At the end of episode 7, you have all the information needed to know (or at least make a very educated guess) as to what happen. Clue 1: episode 1 they mentioned Riley. Ellie accused Firefly of being terrorists, and Marlene answer with "fuck you, was Riley a terrorist?" Clue 2: after Bryan the raider was killed, Ellie says to Joel it was not her first time using violence, hurting someone. So, they stay, Riley turn but Ellie doesn't, and she needs to put down Riley. Then she probably stay put waiting to die of heartache, when several days laters Marlene come to check up on her missing soldier, and find Ellie with a bite wound but no turning. So bring her back, chain her up, test her up.

I always assumed the fireflies showed up in the mall to check on Riley. They found Riley dead and Ellie alive. Marleen stopped them from killing Ellie because she'd been alive and not infected for too long. They took her and chained her up to monitor her. Pretty much where episode 1 starts.

Ohhhh I can’t wait till next Tuesday! Well I’m 90 percent sure you already watched the last 2 episodes but yeh damn I can’t wait!

Top tier pun, worthy of every subscribed cent, using it on others in future

ep 7 kills me... whether it's the game or the show, the Riley flashback breaks my heart every time

Stephanie Bedworth

I just realized that the carousel song in the mall is a cover of Just Like Heaven by The Cure.

Chase Schleich

They didn't "go back" to the Fireflies. Riley was stationed at that mall which is how she found all that stuff. The Fireflies were coming to pick her up in the morning and she was shipping out to a different city (which is why Riley brought Ellie to the mall to have one last awesome night and say goodbye). That's how Marlene found out about Ellie and her immunity. Riley had turned, Ellie killed her, Marlene finds Ellie, bitten, but not infected.... and our story begins.

Chase Schleich

I don't think we needed a full episode (ep. 7) for the DLC. That story could have been told in little flashbacks throughout the season. The show left so much of the game unused and it really could have used that extra episode. The other cool thing they could have done was used the DLC as an actual DLC. After the season was over, a week or two later they drop the DLC episode just as a little bonus. That would have been very cool.

Fuzzy Dunlop

The acting in this show. Top notch. Especially episode 6. So good.

Everybody loved contractors." 😂 You know what I have never seen in a zombie movie that I think would be one of the first things you'd see in a situation where undead or insane people try to bite you? Prison armor. In prisons when there's a riot, especially a planned one, dudes will strap newspapers or magazines in layers around their limbs, especially the forearms, because that's what you tend to block attacks with, and around their torsos. It's very simple but effective. Just a random observation. I'm actually kind of glad ALL of the reaction channels are watching this lol, the first time I watched episode 7 I missed it, but watching a long with Cassie the other day I noticed that the tune playing when Ellie and Riley are on the carousel is the tune from "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure. I absolutely love that song but I guess I'm always too into the song to pay attention to the lyrics by that last verse and, not to spoil it but, I love that song even more now that I actually read the lyrics. Among so much to love about this show I'm loving the music as well.

lol second Joel gets stabbed, me "don't pull it out, don't pull it out!...he pulled it out! Idiot!" never ever ever ever remove a knife or any foreign object that has stabbed you. stabilize it and seek help. only thing you gain from pulling it out is bleeding to death faster. the way it happened in the game was more understandable since he wasn't being stabbed with baseball bat shiv. this is still such a fun show. even after watching a full playthrough of the both games I don't even care that I know what is going to happen in the long run....also hope they just continue things from right there with no time skip and give us a bunch of content not from the game(if it ends where the first game ends that is). Also think it's funny that they gave Joel a hearing problem when in the game he basically had such good hearing he could use echo location through walls and around corners.

Blacky

It's not that much prison armor, it's just armor :) For many centuries, a large number of thin layer of material were a very proficient armor, used a lot. A lot a lot. For basically all of the Medieval period in Europe, it was the most common type of armor. A bitch under the summer sun though. Of course modern paper helps in a pinch to make it :)

Shibby

Leaving the stabby thing in only works if you can stay still and wait for help. If you need to move or ride a horse it's better to pull it out so it doesn't move and cause more damage.

Hawke

"Stabilize it and seek help..." From whom? The traveling MRI salesman?

I'm glad this show is doing well. HBO confirmed season 2 after just two episodes. This had more viewers than House of Dragon in many episodes and its the most-watched show in the history of HBO Max in Europe and Latin America.

DarwinGrayman

I loved the games and i love this show. The only criticism I have is that there are very few Infected in the show. Especially compered to the game. This far into the show and there has only been like four encounters

Quzga

I wish you guys would edit these down, not a complaint but I have no way to watch this and I would love to!

Derik Knutson

Maybe the only two people I've seen that interpreted the ending of episode 6 as Joel's death lol

Bobby Powell

Love the acting in this episode.

FatLittleButterfly

Riley wasn't ready to give up every minute and seconds she has left with Ellie, hence Ellie wasn't ready to give up on Joel either now.

pinkdino99

The wonderful woman in the cabin is played by Elaine Miles who was Marilyn in the excellent and loveable 90s TV show Northern Exposure. Riley was posted at the mall. When she did not check in they probably sent a team in to find them which is where they would have spared Ellie whom implied that she killed Riley.

BigCityTerry

Simone: "Look at those mountains. So nice." Well, that's Alberta, too. That and every single city, forest, river, town, mountain, field, bridge, road, railway, etc. Jackson WY is Canmore AB. But ... like 50% of Albertans under Smith, you might take a little comfort in knowing the building where Tess died is the Alberta Legislature. ;-)
