Mine is on premise when they mean premises. George probably gets this one. On a lighter note, a caboodle of kittens sounds aDORable!

NICKWEAKASS

Are we still getting gone girl?

Cinebinge

since Gone Girl did not win the March 27th poll, it will return in future polls after giving other suggestions by other patrons a chance.

I liked that you guys tried to give Leo Beebe some credit. Maybe he was more reasonable in real life, but a story needs an antagonist. Here's some answers for some stuff from the video. Lamborghini is the Italian car brand that got its start in farm equipment. Pit stop lengths and regulations vary wildly across motorsports. For example, a good (modern) Formula 1 pit stop is 1.9-2.3 seconds for 4 tires. A good pit stop for NASCAR is 10-12 seconds for 4 tires and fuel. The reason they vary so much is differences in regulations for things like: -how many people get to work on the car? -do you have to wait behind a wall and jump over when the car pulls up? -will you have to refuel mid-race? (Formula 1 used to refuel, now it doesn't) -do your tires have multiple lug nuts or just one central lug nut? (NASCAR used to have 5 lug nuts on every tire, but then they switched to 1) -is a driver switch involved? (This usually only happens in endurance racing, like the 24-hour series) I'm not sure what the regulations were back then when Miles was driving, but some modern endurance racing series have minimum lengths for pit stops. This is for multiple reasons, but generally a minimum pit stop time is intended to cut down on people taking risks to get out faster.

For your consideration, another racing movie based on a true story: Rush from 2013 by Ron Howard starring Thor Odinson of Marvel fame and Fredrick Zoller of Inglorious Basterds

Kenny needs a vacation

Watching this makes me want to fly you 2 down to a race in Texas at our “local” track, Circuit of the Americas. Whether you’re into racing or not, it’s an amazing experience! I think you’d both enjoy the spectacle of the whole thing.

Jul_Belton

Why would it not be a true story if they used the actual names of two companies?

Logan Kerlee

I super enjoyed this reaction! Holy crap, it was great. :) I watched this before but I genuinely enjoyed your takes on the film. This one's super exciting and fun while also being quite emotional. I'm not ashamed to say that I shed a few tears during my watch. I'm not a car person but I know a few and was raised around them. They'd enjoy this movie. Again, I'm happy that you both did as well. :)

akaTheBARON

🖤I heard this was a good movie before I watched it, but I thought it was going to be a snooze-fest for some reason. IDK why I thought that but it's anything but. Nothing like giving a movie a chance that you're sure you won't like and are pleasantly surprised. I recommend The Prestige which is another great Christian Bale movie. Directed by Christopher Nolan.

I have never in my life heard of people saying "verse" instead of "versus," that calls for a paddling exspecially is another one, the amount of lectures taught by PhDs who can't pronounce it is off the charts. Or criterion/criteria. Or even worse, mitochondria, memed into a completely dumb (and kind of useless) little mnemonic. At this stage I'll just refer to David Mitchell, he knows how to vent this sort of anger.

Kyle Baker

If your American and have anybody in your life who loves cars your going to hear about the Shelby GT40.

Hans Czajkowski Jørgensen

Re. people saying words wrong One for George: I'm pretty sure 'specie' is not the singular of 'species'. 'Specie' is an uncountable noun denoting coin currency. The singular of 'species' is 'species'. Phew! Felt good to get that off my sunken, pale language nazi chest. Still love you George <3

Paul G

In fairness the broader story of Ford dominating Ferrari after being slighted by Enzo is well known and the GT40 is revered by anyone interested in cars and racing. However I don’t think the more specific story about Ken Miles and the details of the race itself are well known outside of hardcore race circles.

Yes Le Man's is still running in the World Endurance Championship, and there are other rounds too not just Le Man's. The only other 24hr race I know of is the 24hrs of Nurburgring but that's just GT3 cars and lower classes not prototypes. Also +1 for rush another great racing movie about James Hunt and Nikki Lauda

🖤Something bad did happen to the scummy executive Leo. 5 years after the events of this movie he fell for a Ponzi scheme and was humiliated in a public fashion. He lost his job, and his wife, and his credit was ruined. To this day he works as an assistant manager of a failing sporting goods store, and he has E.D. He also went viral on Youtube some years back after someone recorded him not being able to open a door (it was a push and he was pulling like an idiot) on a cold Michigan winter afternoon. When people started to laugh at him, he got angry and yelled "Do you know who I am? I used to be an executive at Ford Motor co-" but slipped on some ice as he approached the person filming, and split/shit his pants on the way to the ground. As the roaring of laughter overtook the street he kept crying "I think I broke my pee pee! I think I broke my pee pee!" as he lay there soiled and embarrassed hoping people would feel sorry for him, and not notice the smell. But they did... they noticed. "I'd be SO embarrassed if this was my dad." some woman said as everyone laughed. The video was titled "Fat, Balding Moron vs Door Shits His Pants | Funniest Video EVER" Just don't Google it, or try to find the video on Youtube. Just trust that this actually happened and is "based on a true story" and you will be happier for it :)

After attending the Carroll Shelby school of motor racing at Riverside, I test drove for a sports/racer manufacturer in northern California, and raced at Riverside, Laguna Seca, and Kent (Washington). Shelby taught me how to make chili. Ken Miles was the best test driver of all time. Shelby called him Bulldog, but many of us knew Ken as The Hawk. Ken died testing the new Fort GT40 J-car at Riverside. The J-car had unusual (and unstable) aerodynamics, and flipped at top speed. Some of the film is "iffy" as to facts. Ken drove at LeMans in 1965 (with Bruce McLaren) when the GT40s were having gearbox issues. I think the movie centers on Ken, but Peter is the character affected most by the plot. Peter is nearly my same age.

After seeing “Ford v Ferrari”, how about continuing your Motorsport movie-journey with “Rush” by Ron Howard. In my humble opinion a superior movie to the the one you just saw.

REDR58

This was a blast to see in 4DX (as well as Top Gun Maverick)!

FranciscoGios

This is by far my best race car movie after Days of Thunder. Also I know for sure in NASCAR you do need fit/muscle Pit Crew, it’s not easy to change one tire under 3/5 seconds. ;)

Samuel Bruce

So need to watch "Rush", another amazing racing movie that's a true story and follows F1 racing.

JoshG

George you hurt my feelings talking bad about my beloved fast and furious movies😂

Wade Hill

You should definitely watch Rush next if you liked this movie!

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

The "George in a hotel" episodes are cool with me (I mean, I'm sorry a million plus people were out of power but...), they're a little retro, just because they kind of remind me of your early stuff, the RAW Cinebinge, the early years lol Also, George is talking about Lamborghini, he was the one who started building tractors and then got into building sports cars, and he was a pretty cool guy, very down to earth and just liked building machines and driving them, as opposed to the Ferrari guys who sound more like douches. Oh I was just thinking of another "car" movie, Quentin Tarantino's least favorite of his own movies (but I liked it), Death Proof. It's a cool homage to the car movies of the Seventies, BTW I'm probably wrong but I think the Burt Reynolds car movies like Smokey and the Bandit and especially Cannonball Run really started the post credit bloopers scene, again, I'm probably wrong but Cannonball Run has the first bloopers reel that I can recall.

djKENTO

watched this with Popcorn in Bed… delighted to watch it with you wonderful folk too.

MD Simmons

I love how every comment is a recommendation to watch something else, but not anyone's opinion on this movie.

Odd Thomas

Not a racing movie, but Drive is a great car movie. The Driver is also really good. Smokey and the Bandit is pure fun.

Moni Castaneda

This, like The Wolf of Wall Street, is another one of those "I was sure I'd hate it but ended up loving it" Movies...

Logan Kerlee

lol, I'm glad you enjoyed it! It always makes me happy when people realize that they enjoy something that they considered uninteresting.

Adam Thomas

As an american and an avid auto racing fan, i knew this story going into the movie. But Le Mans, in my opinion, isn't followed by a lot of people in the US. So i feel like a lot of american film goers may not have known it was a true story before seeing the film.

Tacitus G. Kilgore

Racing drivers used to drop like flies, Lorenzo Bandini the guy driving the Ferrari died in a crash in F1 i think, aswell as Bruce McLaren who ended up winning the race instead of Ken Miles... he died in a testing crash much like Miles.... I'm sure there's plenty of other drivers in this movie that had a similar fate. Perhaps watch Rush, a good F1 true story....

redddfer44

I have issues with motorsports and cars overall, so I've avoided this film ever since it came out. I'm happy I finally overcame my prejudices and gave it a watch. It usually turns out great, I should do it more often. But maybe there's a time and a place for everything and some things you just can't rush.

redddfer44

I'm prejudiced against motor sports (daddy issues) so I put off watching this movie although everyone said it was really good. Joke's on me. It's really enjoyable and I think I like car movies, even though I don't wanna admit it. I was interested in hearing more of your pet peeves, but it's probably a good call to not delve too much into those.

Tinfoilnation

One thing to note - HFII wasn't crying because he was terrified. He was crying because he had *no idea* what it was like in a car like that... and he wished his daddy had been alive to experience that.

804Media

Backing this whole-heartedly. The Lauda/Hunt rivalry is maybe second only to Senna/Prost in F1 history, and Lauda's comeback was nothing less than heroic.

Enzo Ferrari was a racing driver in the 1920s. He was OK, won a race or two, and then formed the Scuderia Ferrari in 1929. A few years after that he gave up racing himself, and when Alfa Romeo had some financial difficulty the Scuderia Ferrari took over running the factory Alfa Romeo cars. Ferrari and Alfa Romeo split just before WW2. After the war Ferrari wanted to get back into racing, but he needed money to support that, so he started building and selling road cars. This was 1947. Ferrari first won Le Mans in 1949

WayneC

Eddie Hall drove the Le Mans 24h solo in 1950, when he was 50 years of age. A few others have done more than 20 hours in the race.

Rupert Purcat

Yes I knew of Carroll Shellby and the GT 40 even though it was before I was born. I did not know the Ken Miles story which is the soul of this story. I am not surprised you liked this movie (it is awesome) but a bit surprised how much you enjoyed it. I think you should watch Rush 2013 for another great racing driver movie.

David Lonewolf Wright

I just watched your watch-a-long of Cars and then you mentioned this one and figured I might as well stick with the racing theme today. I knew about Carroll Shelby and loved his Cobra Mustang versions. I had heard of the name Ken Miles, but sadly did not know any of the backstory until watching this movie. Obviously some elements were fictionalized, but love this movie. I will add to the chorus of asking you to watch Rush.

Bekka NoyB

Took a chance on this cuz trailer looked interesting. Absolutely ♥ this film!

Jonathan Eaton

Days of Thunder (1990) is a great Tom Cruise racing moving
