The Wire: Season 4 - Episode 7 & 8 - Patreon Version

Comments

Danika Silva

Next television series has to be The Ace Ventura animated series 👌 🙌 💯🤞🇨🇦🙏

Anthony James Marshall

I joined your Patreon to watch the wire along with you guys. If you want something similar to The Wire, the two obvious answers are The Sopranos and Deadwood. Sopranos has the criminal element and humour, Deadwood is about seeing a town be built from tents in the mud to a beautiful small town like how you see all the workings of Baltimore. Also when you finish the wire you should watch another Baltimore set movie like Hairspray the musical, the original 1980's version of Hairspray or anything else by John Waters like Pink Flamingos, Crybaby, Polyester, Pecker, Female Trouble

Jeff K

Simone cheerfully saying “fuck around and find out” is one of my new favorite things.

Blacky

The Sopranos has a lot of seasons, that's a bigger commitment. Deadwood is shorter, and indeed very good. I suggested the totally different but incredible Legion (2017) in the past, but if the angle is modern real society and very good writing to talk about society issues, I would recommend The Newsroom from Aaron Sorkin. Incredibly well written, and short. And with one of the best cold open of all time.

MacGuffinStuff

"Mexicans got on boots!" Lmao George, I know what you mean. Honestly this is probably my favorite season and it's mainly because of Pres as a teacher.

James Boyd

Remember the last scene of season 3, Avon looks behind himself in court and sees Marlo watching him as he's being sentenced. Not something that would have happened in real life but the symbolism was that there was a changing of the guard. Brianna cutting off Wee-Bey's family because there is no more money coming in reifies that.

I love write Wire Day

Fuzzy

Mexicans got on boots!!

Stu84

It's Interesting when you talk about each seasons main bad guy. I think for season 4 the main villain is the whole system itself. It's been slowly built up over 4 seasons. The show is even giving you the hope of beating it by giving you Carcetti, and the promise of a new start in the PD and Bunny's program in the schools. I think this is why most people find season 4 to be their favourite.

Tenn Seven

It would have been hilarious if the random woman Marlo talked with at the train station ended up having drugs in her bag.

G P

If you're looking for another series check out OZ - no one else is reacting to it, and its not like any other show out there. Very intense, one of HBO's best. Amazing character development and an absolutely towering performance by JK Simmons. Only 8 episodes/season.

Ron Corleone

George: Herc is so dumb sometimes. Me: Herc is so dumb ALL THE TIME!!! Also, if I'm not mistaken, Prop Joe's actor was an acting coach which makes his phone call scene a bit funnier to me, it's like watching him do acting exercises, and he helped trained a lot of the younger cast for this season. I don't know what made me laugh more Simone saying "Fuck around and find out" or Simone calling a character by the name of "Skinny" and me taking 3 minutes to realize she's talking about Slim Charles lol

John Richards

Did you notice that the girl in Andre's store talking about how her pimp loves her was the same girl that was in a car nervously buying drugs in Hampsterdam last season?

Luis

But also Marlo is killing people indiscriminately and racking up the largest body count we’ve seen in the show.

David Dotting

I've watched this show twice before (this is my third watch) and I've never caught that before!

Boyan Konov

i dont know if this is a spoiler or not but the body language micheal has and his action indicate he was abused as a kid. Not liking when other men touch him never trusting Prezbo or Cutty and getting Bug to never be alone with his dad.

Tenn Seven

Another funny thing about episode 8 (and episode 1) is that Snoop picked up that Hilti nail gun for $800. Those things cost closer to $1,500-$2,500 new.

Pam Nail

Robert Chew (who plays Prop Joe) was indeed an acting coach. He worked with a lot of children's theater companies and I think around 20 of his students ended up on the show -- a few of them in recurring roles, like the young man who plays Sherrod. He also coached some of the people who joined the cast as non-actors, including Felicia Pearson (Snoop) and all four of the boys who are essentially the main characters of Season 4.

Joe Williams

To be fair Simone, "I love this show. I'm depressed" would make a wonderful tagline😂

Jay

'Wallmart Rawls' is a great name for Marimow.

Dk

They are not talking about assassinating a police officer lol

Jay

You're right, Simone. Foerster's actor Richard De Angelis had passed away in real life. Glad we got to hear 'Body of an American' again though:)

Dk

And no, Namond is not hiring Michael's little brother as his lieutenant. That is the same kid that has been on the corner with him the whole season.

Carla Davis

They may like it but OZ is over the top unrealistic. It's straight hollywood. It's not comparable to the wire really. That's just me though. I really dislike this over the top unrealistic urban shows that hype up that way of life.

JayF

Just putting a few ideas out there for your next show - Breaking Bad (my #1 show of all time) Reacher (great first season on Amazon, 2nd season in the works) Fringe (great sci-fi show) Battlestar Galactica (the more recent one, I forget the year) The Man in the High Castle (alt-history show based on a Philip K Dick novel)

Com1xguy

Fringe would be an incredible watch. I don't see many people watch that show now-a-days. I chalk it up to them already watching it.

Michael Kang-Beats

It's easy to criticize teaching to the test, but passing that test is truly a matter of life and death. I have a friend who did Teach for America in Baltimore. A person who drops out and doesn't get a high school diploma is something like 30-50% more likely to be dead before the age of 30. That piece of paper opens a world of opportunity.

John

Fringe would be great and is also a fantastic show with Lance Reddick in a main role

Brian Harris

The kid working with Namond is Kenard. Michael’s little brother is Bug. They DO kind of look alike, but their personalities are very different. Kenard is a tough, mouthy street kid. He was the one in the third season who was pretending to be Omar when the kids were playing in the street. Bug is just a sweet lil guy. It’s important to know the difference going forward, because Kenard especially is going to be important.

An Inanimate Fucking Object

Love, love this show and love your reaction! I know this probably won't happen, but you guys should really react to the Netflix show Dark. In my opinion, it is the other #1 best show ever next to The Wire. It's a German show that's kind of like a mix of Christopher Nolan, Stranger Things, and Donnie Darko. It is SO well-written, well-executed, and mind-bending, truly nothing else like it

Jesse Coombs

Battlestar would be excellent. I'd love to rewatch that show. I miss the aesthetics, characters, and design of that show.

Orphan Crippler

random question does anyone know the cinebinge upload schedule? like what days and time do they upload

Jay

Tuesday (TV), Thursday, Saturday, Sunday (movies) always @12 GMT.

temsik28

I can second this. Dark is a hidden gem that I think you both would like a lot. One of the most clever stories I've seen in a while. German subtitles are a must so it might not be the best for a reaction?

Haye Zeus

It’s actually pretty cute that they’re worried about Herc. Innocent times

MasterElodin

Also Saturday is for the poll winner and the other days are often random movies that are other suggestions outside of polls.

Jeff K

I've noticed that Sunday is often a second place poll finisher, too.

james repka

... and backward. Kenard was one of the little kids Bunk saw play-acting as Omar's gang when they are investigating Tosha's killing at the stash-house shootout.

Hexon66

No, it was not self-defense, Simone. It was a calculated decision, after the threat had been neutralized. But it doesn't diminish our attraction to him. I only say this because, it's okay if you want to mark out for Omar, or give him a pass on stuff. We all *like* the character. But you can't do it on a lie. That'd run counter to the entire ethos of the show. You support him warts and all, and don't pretend not to know that a lot of what he does can be ugly.

Hexon66

Simone: No offense, she looks like a bird. No offense. George: It's the hooknose. Simone: Oof. Can I stop holding your offense beer now, George?

Pierce

you guys are so naive its adorable i'd love to see how yall grew up to have virtually no street knowledge, not even via osmosis from media, music, tv, talking to friends, etc lol its crazy

Pierce

so weird how these two never picked up on why Michael acts the way he does toward male adults.. usually most reactors figure it out by now; the smarter ones figure it out after the first or second time Michael acts wary of male adults edit: spoke too soon! George actually *finally* sniffs it out lol
