Just as soon as I get home...

Jeff K

I'm firmly in the camp that this is a sequel that's better than the original, and honestly I don't think it's even close. The presence of Ryan Stiles helps, of course.

Ryan

Rat Race is another wonderful comedy with Rowan Atkinson in it!

8bitAndy

Mr Bean + spoof movie = Johnny English. I'd love to see a reaction to Love Actually as well. Rowan Atkinson's role is really small, but he's still amazing in that movie (he's amazing in everything)

Jeff K

That movie is so bad but I love it anyway. Obviously, it helps that it's got a killer cast. Hard to go wrong when you throw Tim Curry and Samuel L. Jackson into the mix in any movie.

jim Howe

Yes! Next up on the spoof list: 'Top Secret'. People will say you need to watch a bunch of films to get the jokes, and that may be the case... but its still a really funny film and worth a watch.

Andi Herr

The fact that you didn't recognise American Gladiators made me feel so old. 😅

Andi Herr

Also, in terms of other spoof movies to watch: Loaded Weapon, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, Murder By Death and you still have two more Naked Gun movies to do. And then there's also the subgenre of spoofs that are valid additions to the genre they're making fun of, such as The Fearless Vampire Killers or My Name Is Nobody.

Tyler Foster

I left a comment on the video, but I can't see it anymore. Sometimes YouTube comments behave strangely so maybe it's just a glitch. In the chance that it's not, I'll post it here. A significant chunk of the Topper-Ramada plot in this one is also a spoof of Casablanca, which is one of the greatest movies of all time and I definitely hope you watch. There are also some bits of Rambo III mixed in as well as II -- most of the opening was III, if I remember correctly. Wall Street is a 1987 movie starring Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen, and Martin Sheen. As mentioned on the original Hot Shots! video, I hope you check out Amazon Women on the Moon (1987), Hot Rod (2007), the Naked Gun sequels, The Other Guys (2010), Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016), Top Secret! (1984), UHF (1989), Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007), and Wrongfully Accused (1998) among other spoof movies. I also forgot to throw in Wet Hot American Summer (2001), and I'll also second the Patreon suggestions of National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 (1993), and Rat Race (2001), the latter of which is not technically a spoof movie, but it's by part of the Airplane! team like this one, which consisted of Jerry Zucker (who did Rat Race solo, and Ghost), David Zucker (who did Naked Gun solo), and Jim Abrahams (who did both of these Hot Shots movies). The great thing about most of these movies is that they are broad parodies of tropes rather than specific films, so you don't have to do homework, and when there is some, you've mostly already done it (Wrongfully Accused, for example, is a spoof of The Fugitive, and Loaded Weapon spoofs Lethal Weapon, but Popstar and Walk Hard are just general spoofs of music biopics and documentaries, and The Other Guys is just a spoof of action movies).

Tyler Foster

The "Scrambled movie title" joke is about there being an imaginary word scramble game before the movie, but "T2" only has two characters in it. Part of the reason people think there are more episodes of "Mr. Bean" is because each episode contains three or four sketch sequences. What I believe happened is that people then imagine each sketch is an entire episode. There are also two movies, and an animated series from the 2000s that ran much longer than the original live-action series.

Ed Stephens

Rowan Atkinson was great in the Blackadder series. I'd recommend Wall Street, it's a good movie with Charlie and Martin Sheen.

Nimo-the-Red

There isnt a 3rd Hot Shots, but there is a comedy right along the same lines with Emilio Estevez instead called Loaded Weapon 1 which you have probably seen most of the necessary ones, mainly lethal weapon.

Odd Thomas

Atkinson is great and you may be tempted to watch his Johnny English films; don't. They're godawful. Scooby Doo is fun but he's not in it much. The only other film I can think of is Rat Race where he plays a very Bean-eqsue character. His best work is the Blackadder TV series.

Adam Custer

Who would have thought that this movie would have predicted the president of today so accurately.

E.P.B.F.

Yes, Blackadder is definitely Atkinson's best, especially the second and the last season. The final episode of Black Adder Goes Forth is one of the single best pieces of television ever produced imo.

UnSafeStu

Next favourite spoof move is Top Secret! It's a bit older starring a young Val Kilmer

Jayson Phillips

You guys need to watch We are the Millers, best comedy ever!!!

E.P.B.F.

Quite. Not all seasons of Blackadder are created equal (*), but even at it's worst it is still top shelf comedy. Even the specials are great, though you kind of have to have seen the show first in order to fully get some of the character 'in jokes'. ____________________ * = the first series is a bit out of sync with the rest of the show and the third season set in the Regency period a bit lackluster in its writing comparatively speaking. Series 2 - Blackadder II and Series 4 - Black Adder Goes Forth are both phenomenal, and i defy anyone to keep a dry eye watching the end of the last episode. "Who would have noticed another madman around here." indeed.

Einherj

They Call Me Trinity (1970) and Trinity Is Still My Name (1971) are both great. I guess they were kind of a blueprint for My Name is Nobody. I think I like the Trinity movies more, though.

Jeff K

I'm glad you guys got the Apocalypse Now reference; you definitely need to watch Platoon if you haven't seen it, since that's what Charlie Sheen's dialogue in that scene was from. Arguably his biggest breakthrough (he'd been acting a bunch obviously, but being the star of the 1987 Best Picture winner just catapulted him into a different stratosphere of stardom).

Jeff K

I love that movie so much. Val Kilmer's film debut, and for George and Simone's benefit, I'll note that it was made by the same guys who made Airplane.

Kangdarius

If y’all want to watch a Rowan Atkinson American film I suggest a movie called rat race. It’s quickly paced and pretty funny imo. He’s not a main character but rather included in an ensemble cast.

redddfer44

Oh yeah, and real world leaders have been spoofed. The Naked Gun movies do that a lot (including big name Republicans who the makers actually supported).

Byron

I think this movie also has some “Navy SEALS” references (also starring Charlie Sheen). This is not a recommendation for that movie. Wall Street or Platoon or Young Guns are better Sheen choices

Koonce

Would be worth watching Scream, if you want to also watch Scary Movie.

Blacky

There aren't that many good spoofs. It very, very rapidly descend into spoof spoofing of spoofs and just plain bad movies and comedies.

Opti_Frog

"Kiss me like you've never kissed me before" and "I loved you in Wall Street" are two great bits in an otherwise very mediocre comedy.

Michael Myatt

I'm old so I'm probably the only person who got the reference to "Sea Hunt". That was a series in which Lloyd Bridges played a scuba diver who narrated the underwater scenes as he did in Hot Shots Part Deux.

Viktor M

Thanks George, i have watch this movie over 50 times but now i finaly get the joke "they have sworn abstinence like their fathers and their fathers before" ;) But I was surprised that you didn't recognize american gladiators or the battery bunny commertial...i am getting old^^

Mister Forbez

'Not Another Teen Movie' (spoofing 80's and 90's teen/romantic comedies, John Hughes movies, etc.) and 'Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood' (spoofing 90's 'hood movies). 'Top Secret' and the first 'Scary Movie' are also good, but the latter was so successful it spawned numerous, horrible sequels, and eventually the downfall of the genre. Fun fact: the Wayans family are behind both DBAMTSCWDYJITH and SM, but two writers who stole their idea to get their own version of a scary movie spoof film made were added to the writing credits of Scary Movie. They eventually churned out shit sequels and zero laugh movies that killed the genre.

Chase Lonnergan

Watching George attempt to pronounce my name is always my favorite part. So much fun for me.

Niklas Ericsson

If you're looking for a Rowan Atkinson movie to watch, give Johnny English a shot. And PLEASE watch Dracula: Dead And Loving It for another amazing Mel Brooks spoof. :)

sarCC

lol oh, yeah. So many parts of this made me think, "dang it, they haven't watched Casablanca yet!"

Yair Peñaloza Licona

After this, I hope and recommend that you watch "Scary Movie", the first three are very good and very funny.
