One Punch Man: Season 1 - Episode 9-12 - Patreon Version

I do like the idea of alternating between 30 minute laughs and the more prestigious hour long shows for this slot. Can I suggest The Inbetweeners for future consideration? Hilarious English sitcom that's only 3 seasons with 6 episodes each (a full season equates to about 2 episodes of the wire). I think yous would love it.

You misunderstood Saitama's One Punch. He still defeated Boros with one punch. He just had to do a single serious punch instead of all his weaker punches he was doing throughout the fight because before Boros that was enough for all his previous fights and he never needed to actually give a serious punch before. Saitama was basically toying with Boros for fun.

Loved watching the end of season 1 with you both! Such a fun time. :) I'm down for a dip into season 2, whenever you both decide it's time. :)

Sereeh

I'm sorry but when are we going to get the wire season 5?

Dioskur

I'd say he is "One Punch Man" because he CAN destroy everyone with one punch, not because he has to. As you said during the fight, he wanted to find out what Beros could do. And when it became too dangerous for earth itself, he did one serious punch and won.

I think The Wire might come back next week

Just finished ep1, no idea if you addressed the call for watching the ending "previews" (an anime trope in itself btw) - but there is more fun content after the episodes. If you didn't already, there are compilations online, just as a heads-up. There always are.

This was amazing to re-watch with you guys. I can't wait for S2.

PG Modehouse

Actually almost every episode has happened to have post credit scenes.

Thx was nice while it lasted, ill resub when we get something fun again. Wire zzzzz

0:54 The low-rank heroes included "jackass" Snakebite Snek, who was shown being heroic. 11:19 Leads to the question of how much organic material does Genos even have. 13:31 According to the author, Sonic could have taken the Deep Sea King if he'd had his weapons. 16:53 But, is Saitama sharing credit really the moral choice? The world continuing to not recognize his real power creates way more death and destruction than if the world could utilize his capabilities more effectively. 32:47 Saitama and Tornado are the only two characters shown who switch between "Serious" and "Derp" forms. 33:38 Super-smell isn't the superpower you want to have! 47:45 Younger Saitama did have spiky hair. 59:27 The ship's floor plan is called "Papa's Maze", an incredibly detailed maze created by Kazuo Nomura. Not an efficient use of space in a ship! 1:10:02 Saitama's thrown punches without killing before, such as knocking the battle-suit off of Hammerhead. Here, Saitama probably figured this weak punch would get the job done, but Boros is tougher than expected. 1:10:17 Saitama's "OK." is a famous meme. 1:21:05 Saitama probably just figures that he *should* hold his nose when he's on the moon. Most people would be tempted to do that, too, though it'd be the wrong choice for anyone without Saitama's super-strength. 1:22:10 Saitama has incredible aim, plus he went a significant portion of the speed of light going to and from the Moon in a few seconds each way. 1:22:40 The first two punches were so weak they didn't even have names. The Consecutive Normal Punches would have killed Boros if he didn't have a regeneration marble. Saitama was still testing how tough Boros is. 1:30:00 Other characters who have an idea how strong Saitama really is: Dr. Genus, Armored Gorilla, Hammerhead, Sonic, the Bespectacled Worker, Snakebite Snek (A-37), Tanktop Tiger (C-13), Tanktop Black Hole (B-81), Mumen Rider (C-1), some of the crowd that saw Saitama punch a big hole in the Deep Sea King, and numerous dead monsters. There are seven "OVA" mini-episodes of "One-Punch Man" that you can watch after Season 1. Total runtime: 97 minutes.

Kill la Kill might be a good one if you need another anime follow-up. It plays with tropes (mostly fan service BS) in sort of the same way OP does. There are quite few more episodes, though. It is much more "anime" than this though. For better or worse.

(Wire fans I think we broke them with how annoying some of us are!🤣) While I didn’t watch One Punch with you all (not my thing), I’m happy for those that enjoyed it.👍 Again I would love to watch a comedy with you all after The Wire. Ted Lasso would probably be the smartest option for views, but would really enjoy Good Place or (even though there is 0% chance you picking it) Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Tim Schulte

It was great to watch this show with you. Very random, just noticed the Garbage shirt. I just discovered them and bought a their first two albums on CD's a couple days ago.

I think a solid follow up would be Space Dandy. It has only 26 episodes so it's not an overly big commitment. It's directed by Shinichirō Watanabe of Samurai Shamploo and Cowboy Bebop fame and implied to vaguely be in the same universe as the latter. The tone is much closer to One Punch Man though. It's about a guy that catches aliens and tries his hardest to be a dandy as the name implies. It's not a serious affair but goes deeper than you'd expect.

Garrett Mazzuca

Gotta recommend Death Note for the next anime. Not too long and a very enthralling story.

Eli z

Cowboy bebop

Kyle King

Oddtaxi It's perfect for your style and is a genuinely great series! Could be done in 3 weeks just like this series.

Ben A.M.

There are like-a-billion anime that will recommended to you. But of all of them, I think you both would enjoy My Hero Academia. It feels like a slightly more grounded and explained version of the One Punch world. It has quite a lot of heart.

Logan Kerlee

Eagerly awaiting more episodes. :)

Why are episodes 5-8 locked? I joined and it says to Upgrade to Unlock, so I upgraded my membership and it is still locked. What membership level do you need to be to watch just episodes 5-8?

Did you know there's a One Punch Man fighting game? Then the obvious question, "how does that work with a literally invincible main character?" This isn't just Superman or anybody we're talking about, right. The game just continues the joke by having the other characters fight to summon Saitama to win for them. I haven't played it but I'm happy it exists.

Russell Richardson

Did you guys miss that Saitama punches the Storm away when he hit SeaKing?!? 🤣 no comment?
