I should have known the two Canadians would do that for the thumbnail, what with their flapping heads in all the rest of the videos.

Shane Kolaga

Blame Canada! Blame Canada! As an American who lives on the US-Canada border when this movie came out and I was a teenager we used to mess with the Canadian tourists who came over and had NO IDEA what we're talking about haha

Senec

The image of your iris whited out is absolutely cursed.

Eric Mc Daniel

I’m so glad I voted for this. I love Simone’s shocked face and George’s laughter 😂

Will Moffett

Not that I dislike clerks, but I'm glad this won the poll. 😀

Re: Clooney... The first "South Park" work was a bespoke video Xmas card Clooney commissioned in the mid 90s. It was one of the first things to "Go Viral" on the internet, and led to Trey and Matt getting a TV deal.

It really is funny how cultural norms about censorship can vary so much. Here in Denmark fx (the Canada of Europe according to South Park :P) language and swearing is really not considered that big of a deal. The word "fuck" is used by everyone very casually, and even most elderly people don't bat an eye at it. Same with nudity actually. A naked body is not seen as inherently sexual here and we've even had several children's shows contain nudity to some degree. It always comes down to context, although it has actually regressed a bit with gen z here thanks to social media. American prudishness is seeping in, but fortunately our state medias don't care ;)

“Blame Canada” was nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar. Robin Williams performed it at the Academy Awards and, yes, that was far and away the most memorable thing from the Oscars that year.

The film Canadian Bacon is pretty much in the same theme as this film, I highly recommend it

I tried to get "what would Brian Boitano do?" to be used over here for a while. I love the randomness. Little reminder: They also created Team America. They are talented beyond believe.

Never found a video of my mom, but when my dad passed my brother and I found physical nudes of my step mom while going through his affects. That chick was committed. Had to take the photos, take the film to get developed, and pick them up. She was committed! Added a bit of levity in a crap time. Debated on asking her daughters if they wanted old pics of their mom 😁 but in the end we shredded them. Step mom didn’t need the bonus mortification of knowing her step kids saw her business while mourning her husband.

Please guys watch “Real Steel”

If we're going to have more Trey Parker and Matt Stone movies you really need to watch Orgazmo next.

HeyHeyJK

So, Trey Parker, part of the duo who created South Park (Matt Stone is the other), is an amazing songwriter, which is why this film is a legit musical. As silly and insane as some of the songs are, they're fantastic songs. The songs from their Broadway musical "The Book of Mormon" - co-written with composer Robert Lopez) are insanely good and perfectly profane for a play taking down the Mormon religion). I'll put this film up against any other movie musical and so glad Simone finally got to see it.

Jeff K

And they’ve been doing musical stuff since the start, really, all the way back to “Cannibal: The Musical”… which is just as outrageous as the title suggests.

Jeff K

I'm genuinely wondering how much of Orgazmo would survive a YouTube cut. I would also suggest they check out BASEketball, which... is not great. But I can't help but love it.

Jacob Lantom

Mother of sweet God, this thumbnail is utter perfection

Rob Church

First thumbnail without Photoshop. Nice.

Ludovic Ligot

That's a five stars thumbnail, alright ! 😂

Happy Hanukkah

"Asses of Fire." Or as the movie was known in George's hometown, Les Foufounes Electriques.

I am outraged beyond words by your platforming this depraved, violent, blasphemous, vulgar, perverted, corrupting filth. I expected nothing less from you ... you ... you CANADIANS! (Excuse my language.) But even I must unwillingly admit that this movie is not entirely devoid of merit. 18:11

For some reason I never noticed before how much this movie reminds me of the Kids in the Hall's Brain Candy. (Speaking of Canadians.) Which is a FANTASTIC black comedy - I have no idea why it bombed, I think it's got some of their best stuff in it. Highly recommend it!

Fyi, the whole “V chip” is sort of based on a real thing: there was a push by people similar to Kyle’s mom to require all televisions to be equipped with a chip to censor foul language and anything else with a rating. But that was for *televisions* - not individual kids. It was the same people that’d pushed for the “Explicit Content” sticker to be added to CDs (mainly hip hop, because really the fear’s always been racial and cultural not linguistic), so it wasn’t a fringe idea. I think Al Gore’s wife or someone similarly was trying to make it happen, so it had some fairly high profile backing. Obviously, the South Park guys in particular thought it was a dumb fucking idea, and - among other things - made this movie to skewer it. Also, the stickers on the CDs just increased sales, because of course it did. And through it all, nobody thought to just handle their shit like adults and just attack Canada.

Chase Lonnergan

Umm... Hate to be that guy, but it was primarily heavy metal that brought about what the industry refers to as the Tipper Sticker (after Tipper Gore). Rap hadn't really exploded yet. That's why Dee Snider was on the stand at the hearing, alongside Frank Zappa and John Denver. The Rap Lyrics controversy didn't really kick off until the mid-90s. WHich was basically a rehashing of what happened in the 80s with heavy metal.

AppliedJest

You’re right, my bad. Conflated it with the mid to late 90s moral pearl clutching that lead to the chip. Forgot how old the sticker was, but of course you’re right

FYI, South Park started literally as cut out construction paper... Stone & Parker were hired to make a "Christmas Card" video, which was like 4 minutes and had the kids with Jesus and Santa fighting each other... it got copied and passed around Hollywood, and got them the show. It started as more refined construction paper, then computer animated but keeping the same style. https://youtu.be/Tkmxks20MPk?si=ieYpn8JktH-mZYEp
