QuiGon_Jim (Howe)

'True Grit' is my pick, one step closer to 'Oh Brother, Where Art Thou'.

Mo's Not Mortal

Child’s play is one hell of a franchise. From the first movie all the way to the TV show.

Ding Dong I'm A Horse

You can't really watch Malcolm X unless you've seen the first nine.

redddfer44

Lots of interesting ones, but the one made before the 80s gets my vote out of principle.

Steve Matthews

I was thinking you guys could do with some more biopics, Malcolm X is a good choice. Shame it's gonna get beaten by Ice Age, LOL.

Robb

I want a reaction to Everest so much let's added to a poll at least please

יוסי פורקוש

if youre talking about the 80's there some great movies that will bring great reactions: "back to school", "road warrior"...

DracJeriba

ALARM! Das Boot Director's Cut (1997)

Michael Buhl

I should vote for True Grit because a friend of mine worked on the film, but The Wizard of Oz is too culturally significant for you to have not seen it.

Simon Clifton

Always fascinating when some movies crop up on the list - I completely know it's subjective, but there's always a little part of my brain that goes "Have you really never seen that!" (Hence my vote for Wizard of Oz) but then I have to remember I haven't watched The Big Lebowski which I'm sure would shock others!

streaky

Two things surprising me - even though it's a great movie with some great actors and great acting (and I really like it), the remake of True Grit is doing better than I'd expect and people usually go mad for Equalizer 2, many prefer it over the original (I don't not like it, I just don't rate it as highly as others even though it is decent) and is doing much less well than I'd expect - and given 3 was just released it is time-appropriate. Then again Man on Fire seems almost like a prerequisite to Equalizer 3 (not really but also if you know, you know) so no rush anyways.

thomas king

You can't watch True Grit 2010 before the real True Grit in 1969. John Wayne's only Oscar winning performance. Robert Duvall as Ned Pepper. Plus Dennis Hopper and Glenn Campbell

Wrencher86

Pulling for True Grit so maybe we can get you guys on a Western kick and finally get an Unforgiven reaction. (Also, True Grit is a good movie on its own)

GnolRevilo

The Menu is so much fun.

Tarmil

True Grit was an excellent breakthrough performance for Hailee Steinfeld, Jeff Bridges was also really great, and of course you can't go wrong with the Coen brothers.

Brendon

Some recommendations I don't think other people have said before: Phone Booth (2002), Nightcrawler (2014) and Enemy (2013). All would suit a reaction very well I think

Jay

Over the moon that The Menu is doing well. I've said it here before, but that film is top notch reaction material. I hope Childs Play makes it for October.

Grinznmore

Wizard of Oz is iconic and frequently listed at the top of the greatest film ranking. No film, and I mean, no film has more references in our culture than this story. And the music score, Holy Cow, ...what a treat to watch this film with someone who has missed seeing this. The impact and scope of this film dwarf the others on the poll.

Martin

I voted for Malcom X because it’s an important movie and Denzel’s performance is pure brilliance. I also voted for The Menu because it would be a great reaction.

T__K8

Hey, new to Patreon so thought i'd throw in some random suggestions that i hope you'd enjoy. Apologies if you've previously mentioned watching any of them off camera already. First Man (2012) - Biographic History Drama Only the Brave (2017) - Biographic Drama Prisoners (2013) - Mystery Crime thriller Knives Out (2020) - Mystery Comedy Rush (2013) - History Sport Drama Sherlock Holmes 1 & 2 (2008/2011) - Mystery Adventure thriller The Revenant (2015) - Western, Epic Adventure

James I

Hey guys thought I'd re-request 'Four Lions' a British dark comedy about terrorism.

Matthew Richson

Lots of different movies I enjoy on here.

Kwazimoto69

The Menu (2022) was a fantastic surprise from last year.

JayF

I figured Malcom X would be at the bottom which is too bad. Denzel at his absolute best. I'm backing True Grit here. A remake that was definitely better than the original and eliminates the need to watch a movie with a complete d-bag as the lead.

Alex Wong

Continue with Rocky franchise please!

Boyan Konov

Malcolm X is by far the best movie on this poll and its a shame that it has the lowest votes.

jmundt33a

Fallen is another excellent Denzel film.

Hernani

True Grit !

Blips of Our Lives

Malcom X I highly recommend you read his autobiography. Before he became a spiritually devout and civil rights leader he was a burgalar in a crew in the east coast. He said the best way to have people not rob you, leave your bathroom light on it’s the one room in the house someone logically could be at any hour of the day or night. The movie does a darn good job and obviously, Denzel is Denzel.

Christopher Greenley

True Grit is fine. But, the original with John Wayne is better. Also. It's sequel Rooster Gogburn

Chase Lonnergan

Love some of these choices. Gotta push for my usual movies again: Beverly Hills Cop II Clue From Dusk 'Til Dawn The Count of Monte Cristo (2003) Short Circuit. Bloodsport and/or Kickboxer And a series suggestion, Dexter (the first five seasons) is a fantastic Black Comedy that will definitely lighten the mood after Breaking Bad, if you haven't already seen it.

Tyler Foster

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The John Wayne True Grit is fine. I don't have a problem with it. But True Grit is based on a book, and having read the book last year, the Coens version is about as perfect of an adaptation of an incredible book as I can envision. People who liked the John Wayne one more, that's cool, but I think what they really like is John Wayne. Assuming the book, as the originating work, is part of the standard, the Coens' version blows the Wayne one out of the water. I'm thrilled to see it doing so well on this poll so far and I really hope it wins, not just so you can see a great movie, a great adaptation, a great Western, and Hailee Steinfeld's incredible debut performance, but also to continue your journey into the filmography of the Coen brothers.

UNC

I wish Scarface was on this list!

P U F F

Childs Play and Ice Age are great films, the rest are pretty good too... but for the love of god... you do not need to watch a film from 1939, I somewhat enjoy it for the history but my god is it the most boring film you'll ever see in your life. Fun Fact: In the background of one of the shots in The Wizard Of Oz, you can see a hanging munchkin (an enemy) in the background. Supposedly the staff was treated horribly and the f***ing dog got paid more than any of the supporting actors and one of them hung themselves in the shot. MGM has later tried to cover it up (unsuccessfully) and here we are today... ya know what you should totally watch it now :) scarier than Childs Play.

Skarr

For future polls...Falling Down

michael denny

watch original true grit john wayne won an oscar

Grand Moff Slackin'

Malcolm X is an important film and a modern classic imo. Denzel’s portrayal of Malcom X is a star turning achievement.

p0sthum4n

Hell yeah the True Grit remake is an incredible modern western. Hardly ever see a poll where the best movie is actually winning.

Joh

Hoping Ice age win, we need a funny movie!!

Happy Hanukkah

I like the current leader in the poll, but I'm not sure I'll be able to watch it. Hopefully my eyes will have recovered from my violent eye-rolling at a small number of comments here.

YoureMrLebowski

no shade to True Grit, it got my vote. but True Grit BEFORE Unforgiven (1992)??? it's a hell of a thing watching Unforgiven... 🤠

Armchair Rizzard

Tru Grit is good but i really wish the Menu would get seen by a reactor.

bietz

Malcolm X is the best and most important movie on the list.

Alex Ch

The internet has been abuzz about the long-time greatness of Martin Short. I think I’ll be rewatching the great Sci-Fi comedy Innerspace (with Meg Ryan) and the Western comedy Three Amigos (with Steve Martin and Chevy Chase).

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

I voted for The Menu and would really love it to win but it looks like True Grit with a sizable lead and True Grit is a wonderful film so cant be too mad. Hailee's performance was wonderful in her first film role... still hoping some peeps will give The Menu a push

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

Gonna restate my hopes for these films to get a well deserved reaction The Witch (2015) Thoroughbreds (2017) X (2022) and then after need to watch Pearl (2022)

Tyler Foster

Coming back in now that True Grit has maintained its lead to add to the chorus of commenters suggesting you choose Malcolm X for yourselves in the future rather than put it to polls. I also highly recommend you do Spike Lee's other masterpiece as well, Do the Right Thing (and, semi related, if there were just one movie I could wish onto the channel, it would be the 2018 film Blindspotting, which shares some themes with DtRT).

Opti_Frog

This is a fun poll!

Victoria Davis

if neither of you have seen the Wizard of Oz been, than it needs to be done. A classic everyone should watch

CT

Have either of you seen Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey'? You should really watch that before you watch 'Barbie'. Keep up the great work!

Vwlss Nvwls

With so many serious and somber movies, you should really consider "Ice Age" for a little fun and relaxation. :)

Chase Schleich

You'd think I'd stop being shocked by these polls by now, but nope. Every week, another curve ball is in the lead. Nothing wrong with True Grit, I just never would have guessed it would be in the lead.

Michael Buhl

Recommendations for the future: Network (1976) The Saddest Music in the World (strange Canadian movie, 2003) Brazil (1985) Repo Man (1984) Sunset Boulevard (1950) Miller's Crossing (1990) The In-Laws (1979) Duck Soup (1933) The Elephant Man (1980) Scanners (1981) The Ruling Class (1972)

PIG

The only time I ever saw Malcolm X on a reaction list! Washington’s best performance. Might even be my favorite Spike Lee movie. Also, it has one of the best scores of the ‘90s by composer Terrance Blanchard. Incredible story too, based after Malcolm X’s own autobiography.

Daniel Bjork

Yall haven’t seen the wizard of oz?

lance tophoj

I want to see you react to The Menu!!!

Scott CineRam

The Wizard of Oz is a genuine classic of American cinema...but you'll have to silence a lot of the music! I hope you guys see & enjoy the film when you get to it, but some movies aren't as well-suited to YouTube reactions as others. Nevertheless, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. It was re-released in theaters in 2019 for it's anniversary...I had tears in my eyes during about 30% of the running time!

Fatal Spoon

Always love Coen Brothers reactions. I’d love to see Banshees of Inisherin, Killing of a Sacred Deer or Nacho Libre on a poll one day as well. Have fun with whatever gets picked this week!

Stephen Stone

If I may, my movie suggestions are... Green Room, Bad Times at the El Royale, A Scanner Darkly, Blades of Glory, Coraline, I Am Legend, and the Fargo tv show.

Orphan Crippler

Now that you have seen Ted Lasso You should try Green Street Hooligans with Elijah Woods

Rob Church

True Grit is my least favorite Coen Brothers movies. I voted for The Menu

Hussain Rumaih

Any shouts for Swingers?? A true classic.

Dazzler & Em

A selection of Clint Eastwood films would be a worthy choice. The dirty Harry films, unforgiven and Gran Torino. All classics.

Dazzler & Em

also, having watched some of your older reactions, just a quick comment. I don't think it gets said enough, that we really appreciate your genuine reactions. Whether it is asking questions, laughing or getting emotional. It all stems from a reaction to what you are watching. Really appreciate it!!

MacGuffinStuff

If you guys watch The Wizard of Oz can we do a second version afterwards, where we can get baked and watch along with Dark Side of the Moon playing? 🤣

MacGuffinStuff

I see a lot of Unforgiven recommendations, and I love that movie, my favorite Western, with Tombstone a close second. BUT, I think they should maybe watch a few more Clint Eastwood Westerns first, because I watched High Plains Drifter and Hang Em High and the Outlaw Josey Wales with my dad who was a huge fan, loved them and Eastwood was famous for those, so when Unforgiven came out it was like "oh shit, Clint Eastwood is doing a Western again? It must be his last." Because we all thought he was basically at the end of his career (little did we know the guy, like his characters, would not be dying anytime soon lol). So I do recommend Unforgiven, but maybe check out a few of his so called Spaghetti Westerns first. Btw, I could be wrong, but I feel like Snoop referenced Unforgiven in The Wire, maybe unintentionally, when she said, "Deserve got nothin to do with it."

Aaron M

If you guys feel like watching a comedy you should check out Hot Tub Time Machine sometime. It's a fun one and I don't see many reactors watching it.

sol stapleton

a couple of recomendations monty pythons: the meaning of life (1983) Babylon (2022) the wicker man (1973) Mandy (2018)

Jay Davis

If True Grit (1969) were on here, I could vote. Not that the remake is bad by any means just...

Thomaz Chagas

Suggestion: Almost Famous (2000) Big Fish (2003)

Emptysea93

Barbie came out to rent on streaming today, I highly recommend watching it if you can. If only because it is already one of the biggest movies of the year

Brandon Meng

Seen a few of these already recommended ... (no particular order) Perks of Being a Wallflower The Other Guys Wedding Crashers Unforgiven Gran Torino About Time Forgetting Sarah Marshall Manchester by the Sea Black Swan Midnight in Paris Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story

Martin

I’m going to second Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Other Guys. Perks is a devastating movie that really punches you in the gut, but it’s terrific. The Other Guys is simply more Will Ferrell comic goodness.

cincassette

Some more great movies from variety of genres: Knives Out (2019) Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) Lost in Translation (2003) Slums of Beverly Hills (1998) Clue (1985) 12 Angry Men (1957)

Ben

Very happy to see True Grit on the poll as it's one I had previously suggested. If I may, I'm going to copy and paste the same list I've commented on the last two polls (with a new addition to replace True Grit) A random assortment of movies I'd love to see you react to; 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' (1988) 'What We Do in the Shadows' (2014) 'Parenthood' (1989) Wayne's World' (1992) 'Dead Poets Society' (1989) 'One Hour Photo' (2002) 'Labyrinth' (1986) 'North by Northwest' (1959)

ChickensAreRacist

Dang it makes me sad that such a great movie is losing this poll by far. Edit: both just happen to be Denzel starring. But man Malcolm X is a great and powerful movie with Washington giving a should’ve-won-the-Oscar performance.

peter mcconnell

Dead Poets is obviously a great one too, but I always wonder why no one ever reacts to The Fisher King, featuring another great performance by Robin Williams and of course Jeff Bridges.

Damian

Just going to name a few random films, I’ve probably mentioned before. Memento, and all I films from Nolan. The Mission Impossible films keep getting better, I see the MI:2 reaction is out. Unforgiven and Prey which are both phenomenal. I would like to see you finish movie series just to see how you feel about the remaining films. E.g. I was obsessed by the matrix, and actually like the sequels, or the Terminator movies. But seeing as they were universally panned, they might not be the best way to get views.

Brendan Rafferty

In True Grit, Hailee Steinfeld (13 at the time) absolutely steals every scene she is in You may want to check out her coming of age comedy Edge of Seventeen

Kokofoko

Everyone who didn't vote for The Menu, didn't see The Menu. 100%.

Jacob King

True Grit is amazing. A western and the Coen Brothers. And, after Evil Dead last week, watching True Grit will inevitably bring you closer to watching Sam Raimi’s western masterpiece The Quick and the Dead, everything comes around.

Tiago Borges

I am deeply offended by you guys never watching a Brazilian movie :(

Hakuna

The Gentlemen pleeease :)

Dirge Girl

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)

michael murray

I voted for The Menu, but as it's clear now that True Grit is going to win i want to throw in another 'western' that i haven't seen mentioned yet for possible future polls. 'The Proposition' - set in the 1880's, but in Australia, not America. Amazing film, cast (Guy Pierce, Ray Winstone, Emily Watson, John Hurt, Danny Huston), screenplay by Nick Cave, music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. Roger Ebert gave it 4 out of 4 and said the director made "a movie you cannot turn away from; it is so pitiless and uncompromising, so filled with pathos and disregarded innocence, that it is a record of those things we pray to be delivered from. " Edit- there's no way this would even grace the top 3 in a western themed poll, but at least this will get it on peoples radar :)

Dazzler & Em

A worthy film for any poll would be the 2012 film chronicle. A film about teenagers gaining superpowers sounds pretty average but this film shows how it becomes a nightmare situation. Very good film!
