Stranger Than Fiction next

Jim Frykman

The unrated cuts for comedies is mostly because blame the US for hating sex and blame Canada for hating violence

Jim Frykman

It's a grey area, but I think the stock family beauty shot cliche turned funny around 1992

Odd Thomas

The family photo thing started dying out when personal cameras got better in the 90s imo, then digital took over and killed it dead. It used to be a special thing to have good quality film photos done by a pro, like a status thing, but most people today can do that stuff on their phones.

Jim Frykman

This seems like the synthesis between Walk Hard and Napoleon Dynamite

djKENTO

now I wanna rewatch Walk Hard. That movie isn’t just hilarious and a genius parody of the genre but the music is also soooo good.

djKENTO

My back has been out for a week. I’m basically stuck on my couch. Thank you for dropping my favorite comedy while I’m out of it.

Will Moffett

Hey everyone, can't wait to watch this reaction I haven't seen this movie in ages! George, you handsome devil. And Simone looking as purdy as ever. Hope you guys enjoy your weekend :) Can't wait for this heat wave to be over. Much love from NY <3

Tay Schumaker

One of my favorite comedies of all time. I actually didn’t love it when I saw it in the theaters, but it just grew on me over time. The potato thing was Dan Quayle btw. Not Bush

JediLounger

George, rather than explain fantasy sports I will just advise you guys watch The League (2009). All you need to understand is contained in that show.

GBmain

I'm in the mood for a true story; could we run a poll on "movies based on real events"? You had "Moneyball" and "The Big Short" recently in a poll, both good films, maybe throw in "Sully" and "Rush" (my personal choice), maybe Munich plus a couple others..

JayF

And blame the anti-BDMS crowd for hating sexy violence?

JayF

I like all of those suggestions but I've never seen Rush. I'd also add The Insider (1999), Trumbo (2015), and Chaplin (1992) to that list.

djKENTO

Very happy to discover this movie is in 4K on physical media!

djKENTO

Professional family photos died off the moment everyone had a good cell phone camera. Professional photographers are legit struggling for portrait work, malls barely exist anymore and department stores mostly shuttered their photo studios… You’d get portraits done for your home but also to send to relatives and stuff and there’s just no need for any of that when you see everyone online all the time and we post photos almost daily.

christopher b swanson

The funniest most awkward sex scene I have ever seen is Keanu Reeves in Destination Wedding from 2018................offbeat movie worth the effort

Odd Thomas

John C. Reilly is also a great dramatic actor. Check out Magnolia with Tom Cruise.

djKENTO

About the white dog poop, back in the day dog food had a lot of bone meal for filler. They stopped doing that in the early 2000s. Literally most dog poop would turn white for like 60 years.

GBmain

I had no idea that was the reason, now the filler is corn... if you can afford it feed your dog real food or research the kibble you use, there was a great Canadian brand called "taste of the wild' Good dog food brands keep getting bought out by Nestle or Palmolive and they end up garbage

Paul G

Interestingly the infamous drum set scene is actually in the theatrical cut too. The only significant scene that's in the unrated cut that isn't in the theatrical version is the Christmas dinner sex scene. A couple more suggestions for movies in the same vein are Wedding Crashers and Old School.

Monica Alarcon

Anybody suggested Walk Hard with John C. Reily Already? CAuse Walk Hard with John C. Reilly is great...

Torstein Skurve

Please please please check out "Walk Hard" with John C. Reilly. It's amazing!

Stephanie Bedworth

Well, now you both have seen the bunk bed scene that Roy in Ted Lasso thought was the funniest thing he'd ever seen until he witnessed Jamie playing decoy at practice.

Com1xguy

I used to have that Yoda shirt that John C Reilly wears at the title card. LOL

Brandon Meng

I have never seen a reaction to "Walk Hard" and it features my favorite musician of all time as Elvis Presley. It's 100% John C. Reilly with Step Brothers level of absurdity and all about music... SO GOOD. But if you want an Oscar-level amazing John C. Reilly movie, please see Chicago! He plays a great supporting role to a movie that won several awards.

sarCC

It's the fucking Catalina Wine Mixer!

Jared Winn

As long as you keep giving the time code I'll find a way to watch the movie. Yo ho, yo ho...and all that jazz lol

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

Great reaction... Hoping for Bridesmaids soon... 1 because it is hilarious... 2. because it leaves netflix Oc1 and woudl rather watch along wo having to buy it...ha

MacGuffinStuff

"It's all slippery." "It's the fuckin Catalina Wine Mixer." This movie is as quotable as Monty Python and the Holy Grail. From now on when someone at work asks me how I'm doing I'm just gonna say "Boats N Hoes." At first I thought Talladega Nights was actually funnier than Step Brothers, but after watching the unrated version I realized I can't compare the two, they're both hilarious but in totally unique ways. The McKay, Ferrell, Reilly team was so damn great.

MacGuffinStuff

Oh yeah and Robert Jenkins (Dale's dad) is one of the best comedic character actors, he's one of those actors like M. Emmet Walsh, if he's in the movie, guaranteed it's a good one. A super underrated one is "Flirting With Disaster", it's an early Ben Stiller movie with Patricia Arquette, Robert Jenkins, Josh Brolin, Mary Tyler Moore, AND more... A great McKay movie, that doesn't have Will Ferrell though, is "The Big Short". For a Reilly flick to recommend I have to go with "Boogie Nights," it's a banger. There are still a ton of great Will Ferrell movies to watch though, some are even more dramatic and not just comedy, "Stranger Than Fiction", "Everything Must Go", but still some more ridiculous ones like "Old School" and "Land of the Lost", which is funnier if you've ever seen the 80s TV show it's spoofing, but is still worth a watch I think.

Gary Fixler

George's point about two over-the-top comedy giants being the only way to not think the situation was super messed up reminds me of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (1988 onward), where a guy and two puppets watch bad movies and make fun of them (the original CineCringe!). The creator - Joel - said the puppets give them a lot of leeway, because if a joke is too awful, raunchy, etc., they'd have one of the robot puppets say it, because people would let them get away with way more than they would with a person. Side note: George and Simone reacting to MST3K reacting to bad movies would be pure chaos.

Gary Fixler

I wonder if the looking to the side was born of the boredom that portrait photographers must have felt taking the same 'everyone looking at the camera' photo a thousand times a year. I had a high school friend who always had to get group shots in front of everything, and she showed me her photo album once, and it was her and random people with her in page after page of photos, always staring straight forward, big smile, with random things behind them, like a monument, a bar, a famous building... It started to look insane, like portraits of a psychopath, wide eyed, unblinking, smiling, as the world changed behind them. Then many years later, people started making these montages of people who have a 'photo pose' (which you know they all practiced a ton in front of a mirror): https://izispicy.com/2009/04/17/people_who_look_exactly_the_same_in_all_pictures_5_gifs.html And then duck face became a thing... https://tenor.com/view/same-face-selfie-duckface-white-girl-gif-14525444

Logan Kerlee

lol! Had a great time watching that with you both. :) Such a terrible yet hilarious movie. Good suff.

simon brouillard

Another great reaction, unrated simply means that there was some changes from the theatrical version and it wasn’t presented/reviewed by the MPAA, doesn’t necessarily means nudity/violence/language its just that it wasn’t reviewed

Jonah

A situation born out of pure enabling lol. Two parents who just never spanked their kids.

Jonah

If you haven't seen them, since you've been on a Will Ferrel kick, I suggest checking out 'The other guys' 'The Campaign', 'Semi-Pro', and 'Land of the Lost'. The first two for sure, second two are pretty good too.

Funny That

Nope. Wish I could get with this movie, but then I've never gotten the Three Stooges and I'd imagine that is a bit of what they were going for here.

W T

I can't say much more than to check out Bugsnax and/or specifically, well, "Bunger." Words don't do the experience justice.

Chase Schleich

Still need to do "The Other Guys" as well. They'd love that one. Will Farrell, The Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Wahlberg, Michael Keaton and Eva Mendez.... come on George, you know you wanna see that lol.

Lyonheart86(BryonH)

fun fact.. i live in milford , pa.. the shirt dale wears iin the bedroom lol
