Breaking Bad: Season 1 - Episode 3&4 - Patreon Version

Comments

windyWin

Oh boy first post. I much appreciate watching you both watch BB, one of my favourite shows. :)

redddfer44

Duh. "Cinebinge has posted" makes my day.

K Murray

This show is going to make Simone cry so much lol

Mati D.

With the different versions, i just take the background video to try to sync the best possible and check every 5-10 mins, in the worse case if it's not exactly sync is usually like 2 or 3 sec off, nothing terrible. I fix it pausing my or their version for that time.

MacJake

I haven't rewatched this show in years. My memory was that it took some time to get going, but this and last week's episodes has me amazed at how strong out of the gate it was, even before the 'beloved' secondary characters start drifting in. I'm trying to think of other examples of pop culture that are still this spellbinding after 15 years...nothing else made in the 21st century seems to come close.

MacJake

Duh, the Wire. And I'm sure there are other examples too. But my point remains that this is a rare show that is excellent start to finish, and the experience of engaging with it for the first time vicariously through Canadians should be similarly gratifying!

Eric Mc Daniel

So there’s 7 episodes in the first season, does anyone know if they’re doing 3 next week or 2 again with 1 the week after?

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I doubt Crystal Blue Persuasion is about meth lol, for one thing that's a really chill song and meth is the anti-chill (although that song will be in this show in at least one episode). Speed has actually been around a long time, thousands of years (Ephedra), but chemically synthesized Speed has a more modern and messed up history. The Nazi Stormtroopers were lit to the eyeballs on Amphetamines when they were blitzkrieging across Poland etc. But it was also used for pilots on both sides to stay awake, and later as a diet pill that doctors would prescribe to housewives (Mother's Little Helper). Crank (not Crack, that's cocaine based) was a dirty homemade version that bikers used to sell in the 60s and 70s, but Crystal Methamphetamine was a much more pure version that spread like wildfire in the late 80s and 90s, to a lot of places, including a lot of small towns. Albuquerque isn't a small town, just dusty as hell when the winds kick up, but it has a charm, New Mexico is a beautiful state, feels ancient.

Somebody show Simone the titles of "Dexter" and film her reaction. Not the show, just the titles.

Jesse Nkinsi

Healthcare in the U.S. is pretty expensive, a lot of people will just ignore their illnesses because they just can't afford to have it taken care of. I work in a clinic and let me tell you insurance companies will find every little loophole to not pay anything.

Eric Mc Daniel

Yeah it’s pretty depressing that some people (myself included) will be told to go get something looked at or dealt with and their reaction is “no, it’s ok, I’ll just die”

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Jesse's hallucinations, basically it's sleep deprivation, tweakers will sometimes go days without any real sleep and it can get so bad they develop a type of temporary psychosis, severe paranoia, it gets ugly.

Logan Kerlee

I'm VERY happy to see this on here this morning! Gives me something to look forward to, later on today. :)

JoshG

I had broken my elbow, no surgery, not even a cast. All I had was X-rays, a sling, and a ortho consultation and it cost $9,000. I’m only 20 and have a shit job. It put me in the hole for a long time.

JediLounger

In terms of the fade to black times, you guys could run a poll and render for the one with the most votes. My guess is most people watch it on Netflix as it’s been on the service for years. Edit: I’m from the USA. Our health care system sucks, no doubt. Not much more to say really lol.

Not A Weird Guy

I changed jobs a few years ago so I had to wait 3 months for my new insurance to kick in. A few days before that I ended up in the ICU because I couldn't afford to pay for my insulin out of pocket. My bill for the hospital stay was for around $170,000. Luckily, the day I was hospitalized was the day my insurance kicked in so I only had to pay $1,700.

Mati D.

Im from a Third world country (Argentina), we have national HC, if you go to a hospital you pay nothing. If you go for an emergency (like you're dying), you pay nothing. If you need to schedule a surgecy, your insurange pays a lot of it usually. If you dont have insurange, there if where you pay a lot of money. I remember some US tourist got robbed and shot here, he went to the hospital, full recovery, and paid nothing.

Not Six Raccoons in a Trench Coat

I live in Sweden. While I don't have a full grasp of how our healthcare system works I have some experience from when my mom was being treated for kidney failure 15-20 years back (she is fine now). Basically there is a ceiling of about 100$/year you had to pay for treatment and then the government substituted the rest of the cost. Similarly there is a ceiling of about 150$/year for prescription drugs. Basically that means that even though my mom was chronically ill and spent a lot of time in the hospital the bills didn't exceed 250$ per year. This included things like mental health care and physical therapy

Carlos Hurtado

I had a consultation at a urologist last month. I got my bill last week. $893 for a 20-min appointment. I make $1200 a month. . The surgery I need cost between 25k-45k. It's fucked, how financially devastatingly healthcare can be for us.

Onno Smits

I'm from The Netherlands, and you'd pay a maximum of €1900 (~$2700CAD) per year for full coverage of all your medical bills. And if you can't afford that, there are plenty of programs of social benefit to cover you, though the paperwork would be hellish. You would also have the right to go on fully paid sick leave for a minimum of 2 years before you could be legally fired from your job. Having to go into debt or even just having to go to work whilst you are sick, it's something that would be absolutely unthinkable here, and certainly indicative of a third-world country with a government that does not care about its citizens. It'd be laughable if it wasn't so fucking sad.

My name is Jeff

I'm from Finland. We do have HC, but weed is illeagal tho. You win some and loose some.

Vwlss Nvwls

I hate Jesse's parents, because I had a friend with parents like that. They seem perfectly nice, but they were always judgmental of their own son, and basically mentally abused him all the time.

Chase Lonnergan

All this complaining about the American Health Care system. And yet... America leads the world in medical innovations and drug development. Almost ALL of the major medical breakthroughs in the last century have come from the U.S. We develop the best drugs, the most advanced equipment for diagnostics and treatment, and the most advanced therapies on earth. Why? Because it's a FOR PROFIT system. Our FOR PROFIT system creates all of the innovations that are used by other countries, who then condescendingly criticize the very system that makes it possible for you and your people to get the treatments that save their lives. If America adopted the kind of commie healthcare used worldwide, all that innovation STOPS! Dead in its tracks! How do I know this? Look at all of the innovations and advancements NOT coming from your countries.

Philipp Roensch

The bodycount has started :D. 2 very valid observations you had: Why does Walt not want help from his family? What don't you like in Hank, how does he compare to Walt? No spoilers, but defiantly questions you can keep in the back of your mind ;).

Logan Kerlee

Enjoyed today's episodes. Didn't write out a long blah blah blah for these episodes. Just writing this on the last episode. I live in the US and living here is stupid expensive, with everything that costs put together. I'm thankfully (I guess) living in poverty which makes it so all of my medical fees are more or less waived. The reason why it's beneficial for me is because I'm disabled and cannot walk - which means there are all sorts of costs/fees for medical bills, prescriptions and to top it off wheelchair repairs or wheelchairs altogether. I live comfortably enough though so I'm not complaining. lmao, Malcom In The Middle was an age! xD I loved that show as a kid. I obviously watched it years before you both, but yeah, it was a solid show. xD "I think that show's older than us." WAY TO GO AT MAKING ME FEEL OLD!! hahahaha, lol, you guy's rock.

PDP1472

As someone who has

j c

The scene where Walt makes the pros/cons list reminds me of that episode of Malcolm in the Middle where (also played by Bryan Cranston) Malcolm's dad makes that same list and one of the items is 'Enjoy it too much, forced to kill again??'

PDP1472

As someone who has used healthcare in the US and the EU; the US has a long way to go. I found the experience as an average citizen is FAR better in the EU. The US spends the most per capita on healthcare in the world, but on average, produces mediocre results. Shocking that a for-profit system is better at creating a profit than improving health<s>.</s>

REDR58

Watching this on Netflix so far for 3 episodes in, no syncing problems once the show starts. Correction, yes the black “breaks” are slightly off now, noticed it in the 4th episode. I must have paused at a break earlier and didn’t notice. I usually stream the reaction on my phone propped up in front of my main screen.

Steve H

As for medical, insurance is a must.

mitch s

Best Shania Twain joke ever!!

Charlotte Drolet

WTF are they talking about? $30!?! Fucking WOW!!! So when they say free it really is free. I live in the US. I thought everyone meant that they get checkups and basic things for free. But not like major surgeries. Today I have learned. Wow I am so blowed right now

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

In my country we also have universal healthcare very similar to Canada, but due to us being a third world country and with a very corrupt government...is lacking in lots of things and usually our best doctors move to first world countries...but we do have several public hospitals, public clinics, and hospitals and clinics that are assigned to you if you work for any company or government entity...free medicine, treatments...corruption always causes something bad but otherwise is so strange to see how people in the US have to pay the amounts our government pays in here instead of us

Presto2222

I love your inquisitiveness and your trying to figure this show out, but omg, you guys have SO much in store for you. This show is going to take you for one of the most amazing, well written rides in all of tv/film history. You'll probably be smarter than I was about it, but wow, I just LOVED the mystery of it's direction, especially driven by the little glimpses into the future that they often open the show up with. Also looking forward to seeing you get through the next two seasons of Ted Lasso.

Will Moffett

I'm using Netflix, thank god because I usually have to torrent (sry, 'aquire') the shows and movies you guys do. But yeah, the sync gets off at times. I just pause your feed or the netflix feed at times to get it back on track. Only slightly annoying since on the Patreon feed I can barely see the video, so I'm just basing it off of cuts between sceens.

J. Valentine

Yeah it's inconvenient, but its not too hard to sync it again. The video helps a lot, it just takes to pause it for second or more.

Joe

I'm from the UK, where we have free healthcare in the NHS, at least for now. That America just tells its citizens to pay up or die is fucking staggering. Basically they don't care about anyone other than the rich.

PastaDon

Wow!! Orginally I was just here for the video.. "thanks George & Simone".. But now here for comments.. got my🍿ready😄 Really disliked that "Ken Wins1" guy.. type of dude that does nothing but try gas light people.. 😁

Will Moffett

Marijuana IS a gateway drug, but only in the sense that when it's illegal, there are many dealers who are pushing other, more addictive products.

Brandon Meng

Currently live in Lithuania where we've occasionally had to use their health care and have been really shocked at the difference in price for even just basic things vs what we've experienced in USA. US health care is a joke and this episode really only scratches the surface for how bad it can be. That being said please feel free to watch BB episodes more frequently because I'm mad I have to wait another week for this, k thank you.

Pajander

At least in Finland, checkups and basic things usually have a small cost, something like that $30. It's debatable how much that helps with healthcare funding, but it's mostly fine, since most people can afford that and the state will still pay for it for those who really can't. Major things like surgeries or cancer treatments on the other hand are free. It just makes sense because first of all not THAT many people nationwide will ever need them and secondly you really don't want citizens to be indebted for the rest of their lives or to just refuse treatment and die, because they're not gonna be productive members of society in either of those cases.

Jomero

Vince Gilligan had to fight tooth and nail to get the studios to cast Bryan Cranston. Cranston was more known for playing the dad in Malcolm in the Middle where he was a whacky, comedic lovable buffoon. They just couldn't see "Hal" (his MitM character) as this intense and serious character of Walter White. But, Gilligan used to write for the X-Files. And one episode he wrote starred Cranston in his pre-Malcolm days. And that character was a villain, but also a sympathetic one. And Gilligan saw Cranston play that role better than he had ever expected. He KNEW Cranston had the chops for the role of Walter and refused to budge on it. He wrote the part with Cranston specifically in mind. The studio eventually relented. And they are probably glad they did. Else we would have had John Cusack or Matthew Broderick in the role (which are who the studio wanted). Nothing against those actors, but I don't think they could have done what Cranston did with the role. I mean, Cranston got a personal letter from Anthony Hopkins who had just binged this series and found his acting to be so superb that he had to gush about it to him.

Words can't do the dysfunction, greed, corruption and insanity of the American health insurance and healthcare system justice but I'll share the following that happened to me. I have insurance through my employer. My annual checkup/physical was in January this year. I go a week before to do lab work. A week after my Dr. visit I get a statement from the clinic saying my insurance was invalid and I have a balance due of $190, the full amount, for the lab work visit. I email. I get a recorded voicemail two days later saying i have an unpaid balance. i email. Two days later same voice mail. I call from my office phone, 84 mins on hold to talk to someone in billing. She assures me she's fixing it as we speak. A week later another statement from the clinic this time showing a balance due of $0. Great. However, also in the envelope was the bill to the insurance company which showed a charge of $190 and a discount of $160 and a balance due of $30. I pay $556 a month for health insurance. I average two visits a year, my annual and one other for which i pay a $25 copay each visit. Make it make sense.

Meggie Doodles

Absolutely LOVING these reactions, guys! Your perspective on this show as Canadians is really interesting. I'm American, and lemme tell ya that insurance companies and hospitals down here are supremely predatory, and the legal and judicial system is designed to empower them and shit on patients. When I was a baby my family had excellent insurance despite my dad having numerous pre-existing conditions (before Obamacare insurance companies could decide not to cover your healthcare costs-or provide coverage at all-because of your health history.) My dad had a pulmonary embolism and went to a really good hospital with his top-tier insurance, and because of malpractice, his adrenal systems ruptured and he almost died. My parents sued the hospital, won a million dollar settlement 8 years later, then the hospital waited until my state's Appeals Court turned conservative and sued us back 3 years later. One of the judges had financial ties to this particular hospital, but refused to recuse herself and was the deciding vote that we had to return all we had rightfully won AND pay the hospital's court costs. Because of res judicata, we had no recourse to fight back, so about 15 years after my dad was left permanently disabled due to medical negligence, our family went bankrupt and we lost our car and our house. Anyway, all this to say when my dad and I watched the premier of Breaking Bad, all he could say is "Damn, I should have studied chemistry..."

Travis H

“The rich live and the poor die” is essentially America in a nutshell…. 😔 What your seeing on BB is pretty much how the US healthcare system works. And while the White family has (not great) health insurance they have to pay the full price because the good doctor isn’t part of their insurance plan. And as a personal reference I have an asthma med that when I didn’t have insurance cost $400+ per month. I was supposed to take it twice a day but had to start taking it only once a day to make it last longer because I couldn’t afford it. I currently have insurance but still only take it once a day out of fear of losing insurance again.

David Olden

When I heard “$5000 deposit” then “$90000” I winced. To answer your question, I’m in BC. Without listing my medical history, let me just say I recently had cataracts surgery, lenses implanted. For my prescription reading glasses, I had to pay $50, (Billed price was $250, government paid the balance). That’s it. I’m 62, there’s a lot more and I’ve never had to pay. $50 for a lifetime.

sol stapleton

I'm from UK and we've got the NHS.

Crazykirsch

Had major surgery and was hospitalized for ~9 days a few years back. The "billed" amount I believe for the surgery and stay was over $40k. I was a full-time student and thus had medicaid(health insurance for those unemployed or making below certain $$$) that meant I owed next to nothing, If I'd had regular insurance I'd probably be looking at a co-pay of a few grand when all was said and done. At the end of the day the root of the issue is insurance companies and how "billed" amounts have ballooned to rival college tuition. People pay hundreds of dollars a month for insurance only to turn around and still owe co-pays that exceed the the annual cost of nationalized healthcare in saner countries.

Jonah

I'm so pumped that you guys are doing this. One of my favorite shows, I had to resub. Hope you ae putting them out with regularity. I'll definitely be tuning in

Chase Schleich

Health care here in the US is a huge issue. A lot of us want to switch to a public option (where you can choose private insurance or opt into a government financed service) which is the first step into single payer nationalized health care. The issue is, health care companies here make so much money that they're able to buy politicians and those politicians then use propaganda to convince their voters that single payer health care means death panels, lower rates of care, and just lesser care in general (even though insurance and lack thereof does that now). People here truly believe those things. It comes up in any election where a liberal person is in the race. The media, the other politicians, and a percentage of voters all start raising pitchforks whenever single payer health care is brought up. We keep fighting for it, but I don't think it will happen any time soon, if ever. It would take a President and a Congress with a lot of balls. Good luck getting that.

Chase Schleich

That's what we're all saying. We want them to binge the season and release it all at once lol. We need to start a petition! haha

Chase Schleich

Imagine getting a letter like that from Anthony Hopkins. That letter would be in a gold frame on my wall with a big ass spotlight pointed at it lol

Chase Schleich

I would move up there if I could. I'm only maybe 3 hours south of the Canadian border. My youngest is 14. Maybe once she's graduated and moved out, I'll look into it so at least as I get older and need more care, I know I won't be leaving an insane amount of debt behind for my family to have to worry about. I always heard it was pretty tough to get citizenship in Canada though. Prevents Americans from coming up to take advantage of the health care system lol.

Chase Schleich

Weed is still illegal here in Ohio, USA too so I get how you feel lol. Looking like we'll be one of the last states to finally legalize it. Finland will probably legalize it before Ohio does.

Jafe

Something like 10 years ago I sliced my finger open late at night and the emergency room my insurance provider (that I was paying like $400 a month for) sent me to, charged me something like 2K after insurance covered like 5K I think. All for 13 stitches at midnight "out of network". Healthcare in the states is bullshit.

Orphan Crippler

I'm from Australia.. I had Acute Pancreatitis and fell into a coma for a week.. Was flown 400km's to another hospital and was there for 2 months in the ICU with a nurse in my room 24/7 then when I was better I was put in a taxi and then a plane and flown home with a big bag of medication.. Didn't pay a cent.

gobmob2000

Walters medical situation is unrealistic, Teachers get excellent healthcare coverage in the US, so I'm not sure why Walter would not be able to afford healthcare. But I think the answer is in the show, because they pulled a bit of a slight of hand, Walter was able to see a Oncologist with his coverage, it was just that his cancer was too advanced to do anything realistically about it. But Skyler pushed him to see one of the top 10 Oncologists in the country, its basically a hail mary, and that's what they are paying for. Remember, this is one of the top 10 Oncologists, they don't grow on trees, so I'm not sure why people think this would be solved with some form of nationalized healthcare? They are still in limited supply, whether the government or walter pays for it. The only difference is that is the government pays for it, it would artificially inflate demand, creating a supply problem (i.e. long waiting times and lower quality to compensate). American healthcare does have an expense problem, but the expense problem is artificially created by government intervention. Frankly market based healthcare should not be that expensive, it should be fairly low cost, high quality and easily accessible. The point being, nationalising healthcare or government intervention is not the solution, but the problem. BTW, this comes from someone who has lived under both private and nationalised healthcare, and I can tell you that private IS BETTER! By miles. And no I am not rich.

Prof. Writhms

I'm in the U.S.-- New York. In my experience, it's the middle-class that get screwed with healthcare here. The rich-- well... they are rich. The poor qualify for "Medicaid", which is a government subsidized healthcare system. The middle class have to battle it out. I'm lucky. I work for a company that provides full healthcare coverage at a decent cost.

Lars G

Healthcare is cheap for the young and healthy. It's not cheap at all for people with chronic conditions and other health issues. Private health care in the US used to remove people from plans if they had "preexisting conditions." That was the market based solution to keeping prices lower. Until the ACA was passed, it was a nightmare for people with serious health problems. It's still routinely awful, but some of the worst and most egregious practices have been curtailed by government regulation. Private health insurance is great if you have a job that provides you with a generous plan. If your plan is less then generous it can be a nightmarishly byzantine system where a hospital might be in your network, but not the specific doctor that you saw. And suddenly you're on the hook for the entire bill. The majority of bankruptcies in the US are caused by medical debt, I think I would prefer a system that avoids that.

ln_wanderbooks

I'm half french and half spanish, both countries have national health insurance and what we see in this show is also unimaginable for us. As a side note, I don't live in Europe anymore but I've been living in Japan for a while and same, we have national health insurance here too.

james repka

"Free market" implies customers have a choice, and the seller is actively trying to lure customers by improving coverage and lowering costs. That is presumably the ideal of the US system, but it is far from reality. In fact, companies make more money by restricting/rejecting customer claims. Also insurance companies, in every case where it is possible, recruit the young and healthy who make few claims, and refuse coverage to classes who are older or who have conditions that require continuing long-term treatment (pre-existing conditions). It is common for group plans, like those for teachers, to offer packages that make treatment for chronic conditions very expensive, while substituting secondary packages that severely restrict those treatments for much lower prices, encouraging negotiators to pick the cheapest option, thus screwing over those that have no option to go elsewhere for their coverage. New and innovative treatments for diseases are often delayed and restricted because insurers won't cover them. Why? Imagine if you're the first insurer to pay for a new treatment. You're the good guy, right? Yes but it means that sick people who need that treatment sign up for your plan, which means you now have more expensive customers who are going to be making claims. better to keep that out of your plan. But even worse than insurance companies are hospitals in the US, which more and more are being bought up by private companies and run for only profit. They tend to set the prices that insurers must pay out if they approve a claim. Currently one of the biggest problems for health care is that hospitals in rural areas of the country are being shut down for being not profitable enough, leaving residents with no choice but to travel hours to receive treatment.

W T

There is really no reason to worry about those syncs, I mean, you're already going above and beyond most other channels by providing the original footage in the background. Few things are easier than clicking pause and resuming after half a second, so that's fine. I mean, some people apparently can't deal with that at all, but what are you even supposed to do about it, lol

W T

Plus you get a feeling for it anyway because any delayed reaction by G&S would stick out like a sore thumb. It's pretty much perfect, if that's too much work for viewers, maybe full length reactions aren't exactly in the cards. I bet some people are dealing with PAL-Speedup though, I know Netflix and what little streaming was present back then used to ingest slightly faster video, as was quite common... although I wouldn't be surprised if they cleaned up a show of that caliber. Knowing most of the process, I'm still kind of surprised we aren't really seeing standardized intermissions for older broadcast TV... but I bet the existence of reaction channels in themselves might finally nip some of these discrepancies in the butt. It's hilarious how complacent we've gotten with the technical side of things, even streaming is still pure magic if you consider the underlying tech and hurdles.

Śéáń

Ireland here. Healthcare system isn't great - it's underfunded, and wait times can be bad if you're relying on the public route - but you won't ever go into debt for medical bills. There's a public scheme that everyone is eligable to that means prescription meds are capped at €80 too, and it can be shared between couples. Everything above that is covered. You can also claim tax refunds for them at end of year. Even without insurance an ER visit will cost max €100, if they decide to charge, which they haven't the last two times we have had to go. Private insurance is ~reasonably~ priced (I have a pretty good plan through work for about €1100 per year) and will easily cover the majority of people's needs.

Cavatica

People in the US pay more taxes than just about anywhere for their healthcare and still have to go into debt over it. I was talking to a nurse from the US, who argued the system must be good because the rich abroad often flew over there to get the best care. They didn't see any problems with what happened to everyone else.

Henry 4000

as a recovering alcoholic, that last episode hit home pretty hard. i know its not the same as drugs, its got its similarities. hard times. I would never wish addiction to my enemies.

Spectre550

Just to put it out there. In 2022, I live in the same city that Breaking Bad takes place in. I recently had pneumonia and had to stay in the hospital for 4 days. The Bill i received was $5000 dollars. That was my deductible. What the insurance covered was what i saw around 23,0000 dollars for 4 days in the hospital.. That included. Nurses, breathing exercises, general treatment for pre existing conditions. I am still trying to figure out how to pay the deductible. Probably gonna pull from my retirement.

ln_wanderbooks

How is that even possible 😨😱 Everytime I hear about health costs in the USA it drives me nuts!

Ph4ZeD

Great reaction as always guys! Keep it up!

Jobbe Smit

I'm from a sane country with normal healthcare. Because I have an average income it costs me about 125,- per month and the vast majority of healthcare is 100% covered. Certainly all cancer treatments.

megamoo chilli

In Australia. Had kidney stone pain. A few visits to the dr, ultrasound, probe up my peeper hospital visit, another visit for probe plus claw to remove stone that I was knocked out for. All that happened within a few months. Everything went well. All up cost me $0. Very glad I don't live in US.

MR

In US, the treatment is $500,000 In Europe you need to queue for 3 years to get it In Canada, they'll help you MAID yourself

Mark McKeown

Personally i import your reaction plus the eps in to Premiere and cut up my own reaction, so was able to adjust for the varying lengths of fade to blacks. Very weird how its even a thing

Dk

Literally the only people I've ever seen not appreciate what Hank said about taking care of Walt's family.

Twoside

you guys must see "better call saul" its a crossover/spinoff series with Breaking Bad.

JBK405

* The portrayal of crystal meth throughout this series is in the area of "generally accurate, with a bit of more-or-less depending on the scene". It is not a hallucinogen, but as a powerful stimulant it will prevent you from sleeping. Heavy users can wind up staying awake for days without even realizing it, and eventually the sleep deprivation WILL lead to visual and auditory hallucinations, combined with paranoia and other effects of usage. So it's not that you use it and suddenly start seeing bikers walking up to your door, but if you keep using it the bikers will show up a few days later. * One of my favorite tidbits about this series is that Krazy-8 was originally supposed to die in the first episode when Walter gassed him and his cousin. That is why the two bodies are shown as not moving and completely silent, and it is not until the start of the second episode that suddenly he starts twitching and they realize he's still alive. His actor, Max Arciniega, was just so much fun to work with that they wrote additional scenes for him to keep him around. This is something that happens throughout the series, where people brought in for minor guest roles and one-episode appearances become recurring characters after the crew likes them. There's one character that was originally supposed to appear in only one single scene -- literally one scene because another actor wasn't available to shoot that day so they created a brand new character to fill in for the one conversation -- but again they liked him so much they kept bringing him back.

Mr TV Eye

...and even became on of the best & most liked characters in the whole BB "universe". Another proof how outstanding the writers of BB are.

Yugi815

According to all the lists about the best nations with the best healthcare, US is not in he first 10 places in none of them. You can check it on-line.

Danika Silva

Please do 4 episodes per week 🤞💯💯

Danika Silva

Tite, tite, tite.... next week 💯💯🇨🇦👍🤔

American here! I'm a conservative from the midwest. America is a federalist system. each of the 50 states are sovereign. Our constitution and declaration of independence literally says that the federal government in D.C. only has certain powers. all others belong to the states. That's why we don't have "free" healthcare for all. the states fight back against it. I would too...though my solution If i were running a state, would be to set up a state healthcare system(since that is constitutional) don't look to D.C. to solve your problems, cause they won't.

I get not being quite as annoyed by some meek, friendly lady buying groceries and talking on the phone, but I have little respect for loud assholes being true fucks among other people, in an environment where like 80% of them are already NOT having a great time on top. That's like an order of magnitude worse than someone hearing the shittiest music on a phone. Shit, have them watch porn or something instead, still not as big of a dick move as talking loudly on the phone in a line. Which clearly is what we all agreed on in the end, lol, still had to throw that out. Also: this scene spawned one of my favorite remixes in all of remix culture history, which I won't be able to keep myself from linking when you're done with the show.

Speaking of MitM apropos their last few bits of dialogue about the show: So worth watching. Resonates with any audience across the world, is easily some of the best sitcom writing ever, it's got tons of humor and surprisingly, just as much heart... it's absolutely genre-defining and deserves much more eyes on it today than any of the many, hilariously flawed and retrospectively atrocious sitcoms we used to love. Friends or HIMYM are nothing against this... which is pretty understandable concerning how much more competent production is on this show alone. And that, in turn, is before you consider Bryan Cranston - or every single one of the different, amazing actors making it what it is. Malcolm is bonkers levels of good, and most people have no idea it even existed. If it didn't quite suck as much visually, people would be revamping and reviewing it left and right, even today. Kind of wild it doesn't happen regardless.

You didn't even need to identify yourself as American, given your misunderstanding of government, as well as the word "literally". Which is beside the point, as the fight to defend corrupt corporate, and irreparably broken health care system is the star-spangled, apple pie proof.

Walt had insurance to cover the standard treatment for his cancer. That was the first doctor he went to. What Walt needed the $5,000 and the $90,000 for was for experimental treatments not covered by his insurance. Which is no different than going to a private healthcare specialist in Canada versus the national option.

i live in Argentina, we have nationaliced healthcare, my mum had cancer and her treatment from begining to end was free.

I'm surprised that the hosts overlooked that detail, given how they've noticed other more minor ones (like the Tampico crib). The issue of the family opting for specialized and more expensive treatment outside of their insurance network repeats itself in a future season.

Live in Texas, born in Spain. Lots of Spaniards come here for organ transplants.

Is this the Netflix version? The one I have has shorter "black image" pauses, for example in the beginning, or between "chapters".

I live in Australia and we do have government health care, but it is not accurate to use the word "free". First of all, I am legally blind which means I currently don't work and am on a disability pension. And even still, I pay like $300 out of pocket just for a check up from my eye doctor. The Government just doesn't give a crap about vision issues unless its the basic "i need some glasses please". In other words, there are conditions where people want cosmetic surgery and the government will pay 100% of the fee, but if you want to have your blindness cured so you can go to work and pay more taxes the Government is not interested.

U.S. here. The monetization of healthcare here -- and the corruption involved -- is obscene. I worked for a hospital for two years handling insurance and precertifications for patients. The rich live and the poor die. I watched poor people come in through the ER dying of cancer because they had no benefits and could not go to the doctor until end stage. I watched poor immigrants come to the ER with amputations, terrified of the bill. I had to ask the parents of NICU babies and seriously/terminally ill children for deposits when they reached their insurance caps. I had to ask those who attempted to unalive themselves for deposits the morning after because insurance automatically refuses to cover self-harm. Etc. It's been over 25 years and I still remember some of the patients I interacted with. It was just after college and I finally quit when I couldn't do it anymore. The funniest part -- I was a long-term temp. I didn't even have insurance of my own.

I think the weird part, and I mean really the only weird part in this totally normal show, is Jesse's little brother having to pick either piccolo or oboe cause the school doesn't have any surplus instruments. The parents couldn't buy him his own flutes? Just to cut down on the spit sharing, let alone encourage the boy's interests.

Coming in late here, but the $90k is because the Doctor he wants to see is not part of his HMO insurance, if he went through his HMO and saw one of those doctors it would be considerably cheaper, depending on his insurance it could be like around $5k or less. If Walter had a PPO which allows more flexibility on which Doctor you want, the insurance would probably cover the Doctor he wants see, so again the cost would be a lot less.... That Said, Insurance is crazy, I pay $1100 a month for my PPO Insurance (I'm 55) but I work for myself, if you can find a job with good Insurance then you don't have to pay any monthly fees, your company covers it. Also if you live in a Democratic ran state, if you make less than $30k a year, the state will help pay for your premiums. So for example if I made less than $30k a year I would probably only have to pay around $200-$300 a month for Insurance instead of $1100 Also, I don't believe Healthcare is free in other countries, you usually pay for it in the form of Taxes, Canada Taxes are pretty high in order to help cover the cost of "Free" Health Care. The big difference is Canada Healthcare is not for Profit, where down in the US all the Health Insurance companies are for Profit, so there going to screw you over.
