I feel like stubbing your toe is like 1hp

dieselbeast

Hopefully sometime in the near future we can get back to the saw franchise 😁🪚

JayF

What level and class are we in this hypothetical situation? If I'm a 10th level barbarian then 1 damage is a mild papercut. If I'm a first level mage then 1 damage could send me to a cleric. /nerd. Edit - And I should have waited until the end of the conversation.

Tay Schumaker

This probably isn’t the best of the series, though I think it’s up there. But Philip Seymour Hoffman is definitely the best villain of the series

Dave Tughan

The damage thing - you can think of it from the other side. If a crappy dagger is 1d4 )or whatever) then getting stabbed "well" wilh that is 4 damage. What does a stab wound from a cheap dagger look like? More than biting your cheek, I would think. Harder to "see" the 1 damage, but it's still getting hit/cut/stabbed a bit, which isn't good. I think a lot of the daily crap just falls below the 1 damage threshold. Age us a factor in real life, too. Taking damage from sleeping wierd has become a thing ...

Odd Thomas

I could've sworn you mentioned Resident Evil a while back...

Tay Schumaker

JJ Abrams created Alias and it’s actually what got him this gig. I think he was either suggest to Cruise or on his own, Cruise binged all of Alias and then decided that Abrams was perfect for the next MI. He also helped Lindelof come up with the original pitch for Lost. But he wasn’t much involved past that and a brief return in Season 3 of that show

Kyle Baker

Well if you roll 1d8 for normal humans, that means the average hp is 4. So given that I'd say you'd need to be hurt way more then a paper cut to be 1 hp down.

Rash Bandicoot

This is when they start getting really good. From here going forward, the Mission Impossible movies are excellent!

Magnificent Gojira

Almost nothing but franchises lately. It's just sad. Skipping it

Big.Bad.Mr.Mustard

As you should have Simone (Timestamp 11:32). Most true Star Trek fans regard the JJ Abrams movies as sacrilege.

MrCAL

I'm totally with you Simone in regards to the greatness of TNG (well after season 1) but saying that the JJabrams Star Trek movies are like the original series in terms of tone is gonna ruffle a few feathers for sure lol Pulling a single strand of hair is 1% damage.

MikeBdrx

TNG will always be my favorite. Favorite character from all the Star Trek shows is Q. I always hoped they would have elaborated a little more on the Q vs Guinan story arc. Actually there’s a lot of unanswered questions from that show. Also I honestly really like Strange New Worlds. Deep Space Nine was also really good.

Duncan

I will pass on this one and wait for Rocky 3 instead 🥊

JayF

At some point we need to get you two to do a small 5-6 episode sampling of Star Trek:TOS so you can do some of those movies. There is only one mandatory episode as it ties into one of the movies. Beyond that you could ask for episode suggestions and then make a poll. As far as the movies go, I'd recommend 2-4 then 6. After that the movies switch over to the TNG cast (pauses for Simone happy squealing). I am old enough to be a huge fan of TOS as they were still in syndication in my youth. I really enjoyed the first reboot movie that you walked out on, Simone. There was a moment in it that still makes me tear up but I won't post spoilers.

Odd Thomas

Tom Cruise and Philip Seymour Hoffman already worked together on Magnolia, which is a GREAT f***ing movie.

Odd Thomas

For more Simon Pegg, the big one you haven't watched yet is Paul. He was also in the JJ Abrams Star Trek movies.

Truth

mission impossible 4 ghost protocol is supposed to have subtitles during the foreign language speaking parts but some downloaded versions like torrents don't include the subs for those sections. This could end up making it difficult to understand what's going on if you don't speak the language. All 6 movies are currently on amazon prime so you wont experience any problems if you watch there. Just a heads up.

Vwlss Nvwls

I think the real life version of losing one HP is when you accidentally catch your nail on something, but the nail doesn't break, just bends back a little.

Joe

Hell yes! The start of the bonkers MI films. You're going to love all of these. Also...penis.

Kevin Knadle

You both went back and forth on who the mole was. Neither of you get the win.

Will Moffett

Good job by JJ Abrams making Tom Cruise look like he's almost as tall as 6ft Ving Rhames haha

King_Panarisi

I've seen people mention PAUL for a while now but it doesn't seem to get chosen from their backlogg if it's even on there. Would love their reaction to PAUL, I know they'll love that movie.

Vwlss Nvwls

It was so much fun watching you two bounce back and forth between Brassels and Musgrave for who the mole was. :D I cannot wait to watch more of these with you two. They just get better each time, although the next one is my favorite.

REDR58

We just watched the “worst” of the series I think so as far as I’m concerned it just gets better and better from now on. I liked Dead Reckoning Part One but thought it wasn’t as strong as Fallout. Fallout remains one of my favorite action films in a very long time.

REDR58

I’ve gone back a number of times to rewatch TNG (and DS9) but I was supremely disappointed in Picard Season 1 and 2. They are some of the worst sci-fi, the worst television I’ve seen in a long time and I doubt I will ever revisit them unless it’s watching with a reaction. Season 3 is better so far, but I’m only halfway through it and just keep forgetting to watch it. Maybe I’ll wrap it up later. Eh.

REDR58

That is not unusual with some movies that don’t have the subtitles burned into the picture. I think Natalie Gold was watching something within the past few months that was not displaying the subtitles during non-English scenes and she couldn’t follow because she had subtitles off. That is why I recommend people, especially reactors to watch movies and TV with subtitles on. I always have them on during a first-time viewing at home.

REDR58

1 damage, papercut between fingers as in Everything Everywhere All at Once

Prof. Writhms

True Star Trek Fan here. I liked the reboot movies. Anything that creates a new generation of Star Trek fans is good in my book. Then they will be motivated to watch the original series and so on. Any "true" fan would appreciate that.

REDR58

Ah, speaking of Tron, watch Tron (1982) and Tron: Legacy (2010).

djKENTO

Every time I hear Billy Crudup’s voice I have to watch Watchmen and then the dub of Princess Mononoke… I LOVE that man’s voice.

Tenn Seven

Just saw a YouTube video from Corridor Crew the other day where they talk with the special effects guy who did most of the effects for this movie. They break down some of what went into the bridge scene where Cruise gets blown sideways into the car. I highly recommend.

djKENTO

Okay so the story of how this movie came to be: jj abrams created Felicity, starring Kerri Russell, who plays the protege agent of Ethan’s in the start. JJ then kinda got bored with the premise and thought “what if Felicity was just recruited into a spy agency…” and that’s how you get Alias which he also created. Alias goes over HUGE and he finally gets a shot at directing a big movie with this film. You can literally see the Alias influence in the film. Especially with the whole “gotta live a normal life” aspect which Ethan never had to do in the previous two films. the “guy from Alias” at the party is Greg Grunberg who is JJ Abrams best friend and appears in most of his films including the two Star Wars films he directed. The producers and writers of this film scored the Star Trek writing job at Paramount and brought JJ over to direct that project. What’s funny is his Star Trek feels more like Star Wars than Star Trek cuz he was never really a Trek guy. I’d be very interested in y’all reacting to a few of the original series episodes, moving on to the original movies and then JJ’s reboot which is a time travel thing resetting the timeline in a VERY interesting way.

djKENTO

oh also yeah you would casually drop Simon Pegg into this because Shaun of the Dead was only 2 years old at the time and if you knew who he was in the US/Canada it’d have been from that… which was still super niche.

Tenn Seven

The time limits in this movie are unrealistically tight. 48 hours to go to Shanghai and pull off burglary that hasn't even been planned yet? Five minutes to break in via the roof, find the McGuffin, and get back out to the roof? It takes me more than five minutes to walk through my front door and grab my phone.

Superpotroast

It's movie time..And the biggest flaw in most movies, including the MI series, because they could just write it with a more realistic time, but then that tends to drain the excitement and it wouldn't be an Impossible Mission then either..

Mitchell Bowker

Buring my finger when taking a tray out of the oven is a 1HP damage.

Ricardo Alanis

I believe when Ethan gets thrown against a car from the drone strike on the truck (where you asked why he flew to the side) is where Cruise broke his ribs.

Logan Kerlee

Just got finished watching! Unfortunately during the movie I lost my notes on it so I don't have much of anything to write here, like I usually would. No worries though! I really enjoyed watching this with you guys. :) Had a lot of fun! :)

Jose Ortiz

From here on the movies get REALLY good.

T__K8

Think this is probably my favourite. Hoffman's performance is great and really elevates the film. I also really like how the film blends/entangles the intense missions with Ethan Hunt's personal life. 4-6 (not seen the newest one yet) are super fun watches, but i feel lose a bit of the personal touch in favour of increasing the mission stakes.

Jorge Lopez

That was a GREAT rewatch with y'all! Just want to make one recommendation. Please, please, please don't look at the cast list ahead of time for the rest of the series. If you can go in blind in that regard, I think that'd make for an even better viewing experience for you two as you continue through the franchise. Hope you'll consider! And can't wait to watch the rest with you both!

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

Underrated or not seen on poll films deserving of a reaction.. The Edge of Seventeen (2016) Lady Bird (2017) Frances Ha (2012)

REDR58

Simone, the bridge seen in the movie is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel which is in Virginia. It’s 17 miles/28 km long and 2, 1-mile long tunnels in the middle of the bridge to accommodate large naval and commercial ships for the crossing of the bay to the Atlantic Ocean. I’ve driven over it twice and you can stop partway along at some scenic areas and look out over the water. Pretty neat. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chesapeake_Bay_Bridge–Tunnel George, True Lies used bridges in Florida. Also, Winter Soldier took a lot of its inspiration from a movie called “Three Days of the Condor” from 1975 (which also had Robert Redford, that time in the main starring role). Condor is an excellent spy thriller film you guys should check out.

Jacob King

Three days of the Condor is great and also Spy Game (2001) where Redford plays a CIA agent on his last day before retirement that works as a spiritual sequel to Condor and a counterweight to the Bourne/MI movies as it grapples with the cost of being the desk guy sending others into dangerous places to do morally questionable things.

Jacob King

Benji!! Simon Pegg is also in the JJ Abrams Star Trek which is the 11th Star Trek overall. In Spaced (which you should do, it’s only 14 20 minute episodes) he makes a joke that every odd numbered Star Trek sucks.

sarCC

Yay for Michelle Monaghan basically saving the day at the end! Yes, the rest of this franchise is great, and I'm excited for you two to watch the next one(which is SUPER-fun), but...if you want to see Monaghan in her best role, it's about time you see her in the Robert Downey Jr/Val Kilmer buddy detective comedy KISS KISS, BANG BANG!

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I swear Simone said "ABOOT the Star Trek movie..,." see, you guys do say "aboot" lol. No but TNG is awesome, it's really cerebral but in a really creative way and the characters are great, I would love if you guys reacted to it but I'm not expecting it because, the analytics. Battlestar Galactica though, maybe? Anyway, I loved that they showed the mask making process in this one, because in the last one, when Ethan "face/off"s with the South African guy, I was wondering, how do they have masks on demand like that, do they just anticipate who they need masks for and make them in advance or what?

Jay Robert

Michelle Monaghan was the wife in True Detective in case no one else said so.

WastedPo

I'm so glad that you're continuing with Mission Impossible and that you enjoyed this so much. Fun, non-spoiler tidbit about the next one: It's the first live-action movie directed by Brad Bird who is primarily known as an animation director (both "Incredibles" movies, and "The Iron Giant.") I think Bird's presence really shows. The way the shots are composed really feel like they come off a storyboard. Likewise, the tone is very much consistent with animation. (In that way, MI4: Ghost Protocol carries on the tradition of each movie having its own distinct feel.)

8bitAndy

After hearing about Simone's D&D one shot, 1. We never should have let her watch Saw (lol) and 2. I think they should watch The Game of Death next.

Onno Smits

Wait, I'm guessing in your copy the lipreading parts are subtitled in some way? Or are we just supposed to lipread too? Or do we not need to know what is said specifically, just that he is giving info to Ethan?

WastedPo

Yes, there are subtitles during the part when Ethan is strapped to the table. They should actually be part of the film print (as opposed to closed captioning). I think often if people are watching pirated versions of movies, they're missing such subtitles, even for scenes where the subtitles are meant to be part of the film image. (Think of when Jabba is talking in Return of the Jedi.)

JBirdLowdown

The rare movie series that actually gets better the deeper into the sequels you get (Rogue Nation and Fallout are a *chefs kiss* of a 1-2 punch! - yes I mixed my metaphors) …so glad you’re digging in. Love you both, the best channel <3

JoeySnowyNoey

I love this one and is really close to being the favorite. 4 is probably my number one just because it's the first one I saw and I have that connection to it, but this one is so fucking good. This series just keeps on delivering. Even the ones that don't hit as hard like Rogue Nation or the new one for me. They're still really well made action movies, and fun watches.

Chase Schleich

Now let's just hope they don't push those entries back a month or two. I like when they knock out sequels in a short period. Keeps them fresh in their minds, and ours, as we move through a series.

Chase Schleich

Lots more Simon Pegg to come George. Lots more. So keep these sequels coming!

Torstein Skurve

Good movie, but I hope James Bond gets some love sooner or later🙏

Astraeos

I would agree, but I almost think it's too late. They've already watched the total satire of Bond movies in Austin Powers, and in comparison to the Mission Impossible movies they are now on, Bond movies are like almost a completely different genre. I guess they could just skip every other Bond besides Craig and just go straight to the new movies, but that's also missing half the fun.

redddfer44

Since you're amping up your franchise rate, I'm getting awfully excited about Evil Dead 2!

Brian Landers

Starting with the next one the stunts get real... when he is on buildings and stuff its all him doing it.. yeah they have wires for safety that they get rid of in post production but he's doin it all.. he's crazy in the best way possible.. and all the motorcycle stunts are him for real..... Cant wait for the rest of them.. they get better every time...

MatthewBrown74m

You two may likes this movie.....But you'll REALLY LOVE THE NEXT 4

Anonymous

Yes y'all reached the point where M:I begins to become an iconic franchise and they only get better and better from here. Don't make us wait too long for Ghost Protocol.

Raymond DeGraw

Enjoying rewatching this movie with you and had fun with your great reaction. Looking forward to the continuing Mission Impossible franchise. Also, I loved hearing about Simone's D&D story because I've created my own tabletop game with a full built world. I do all the writing and am working on a novel.

David Lonewolf Wright

When I first heard that Philip Seymour Hoffman was playing the bad guy in this, I had my doubts, but damn... was he intimidating as all hell. He was an incredible talent and it is so sad that we, and more importantly, his family and friends lost him. It is funny as I didn't remember the shaky cam happening as much before, but holy heck there was a lot of it. I am glad that is a fad that has mostly faded away.

MasterElodin

When George said "I'm starting to hate directors who start their movies off silently" and I was clearly hearing a background noise was the moment I should have noticed, that my volume may be up way too high 😅

UncleGaGa1979

When I saw the 2009 Star Trek, I had to rub my eyes because I thought I saw Tyler Perry, and sho' nuff, I did
