Breaking Bad: Season 1 - Episode 7, Season 2 - Episode 1 - Patreon Version

Dang. Skipping Ted Lasso. Awesome

Actuarial Lurker

This show will test your limits of rooting for the supposed "good guy protagonist". Season 1, if you can believe it was SLOW compared to what is coming

Onno Smits

"You know what they call Alternative Medicine that has been proven to work? Medicine." - Tim Minchin I knew you'd know that quote George! Tim Minchin is totally your vibe! 😂 He did an 8-episode dramedy called "Upright" that is right up your guys' alley for a reaction sometime eventually!

Vwlss Nvwls

Marie and Hank will grow on you after a while. They will always be a bit cringe, but you will see they are good people.

Vwlss Nvwls

Tuco is unhinged, but he is also a businessman. I don't know if you noticed it, but when it turned out the meth was 4.6 instead of 4.5 pounds, Tuco had his right hand man give Walt more money for the extra .1 pounds when he could have just taken it.

Jeff I.

Yeah, as great as the show is overall, the writing for most of the supporting characters (i.e. not Walt & Jesse) isn't that great early in the show, to the point of being cringe. It takes a couple of seasons for Skyler and Hank to start really coming into their own as well-developed characters. And yeah, no one likes Marie early in the show.

HUGO TORRES

The guy who plays Tuco comes out in a really good movie called "Blood in Blood out" that u guys should definitely check out

Jay

I just found out he's the delivery guy in Gremlins 2. Mind blown!

Kae

I don't see the intervention scene as a negative on Marie. She was able to recognize what Walt was going through and empathize with him. She originally was going to side with Skylar until she saw the way they were treating him. Also, Marie's comment was about giving an honest opinion when Skyler wanted her to lie convince Walt to do the treatment. I don't think it was making it about herself.

Jobbe Smit

Quite sure it was an accident, he just wanted to do right and bury his buddy. This season really shows you how close Walt is to his lives colliding.

redddfer44

Hahahaha, Marie reminds me of a person I've always had a lowkey crush on, so a part of me likes her in a really toxic kind of way...

PastaDon

"Raspberry Puree" 🤣🤣.. RIP Prince..

Tim T—

If you want to know something nice about Marie: Her favourite colour is purple. A lot of her personal belongings and other items are purple. And later in the series, in a sweet moment, that escalates, Hank is seen buying her a purple bouquet of flowers. That scene really escalates, though.

MasterElodin

This (Season 2 to beginning of Season 3) is probably my favourite arc of any TV-Show ever. Its absolute insanity all the way through and this is where the show really starts picking up. I'm really looking forward to enjoying this again with you guys :)

ChickensAreRacist

We’re (me and the wife) equally excited for reactions to both this and Ted Lasso

Corabal

Interesting choice of drinking vessel George 😂

Hal451

Yeah, the entire show is a masterpiece, but this season is just incredibly good. One of the greatest seasons from any show.

Theoshin

to "try" make both happy you could do a tv show on Thursday, and do one less movie for a few weeks :P I know i wouldn't mind, but that might mean you still place ted lasso on the YouTube to keep getting video's out there.

Chase Schleich

Yes! Do both shows at the same time so there's not a huge gap in between Breaking Bad episodes. I don't care about Ted Lasso at all and it's going to suck having to wait a month of more to get to season 3 of Breaking Bad. Just do a TV show episode on Tuesday and one on Wednesdays or a double upload on Tuesdays.

Mike Miner

If Red Letter Media can watch 3 Transformers movies on 3 screens at one time, then why can't you do 2 shows on 2 screens? Seriously, guys, apply yourselves!!! (insert a million smiling emojis here) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Rfup0XKx7o

Crytek

As someone with no interest in Ted Lasso I'm all for doing both shows at the same time, assuming you can fit it into your schedules w/out stressing yourselves out needlessly

Crunkljack

The Tucco scene in the finale of season 1 is a lot like the Tommy (Joe Pesci) scene from Goodfellas. "Whadya mean I'm funny?". The tone is very similar. Which I heard in an interview (I think), Joe Pesci heard a guy do that very thing. So he used it for Goodfellas.

JBK405

So I actually work with several 'old school bikers' who are also chemists. A few years ago one of them started watching this show, and he spoke a lot about this sequence of episodes (End-season one to Beginning-season two) and how much he recognized from his own past. He was very clear that he never did any of it himself, but when he was in school in the '70s there was always some fellow students who would talk about setting up a drug production with the skills they were learning. They said they'd do it for a few months, make a boatload of cash, and then leave it behind once they graduated. Just dip their toe into that life before 'growing up'. And like Hank and Gomez said, he pointed out how all those friends he had back then aren't around anymore.

Jeff K

Random suggestion for a future, relatively short series: Veronica Mars. Great show. Modern day noir, teenage Nancy Drew-esque detective show but much darker. Great writing and performances (though I suspect Simone might have watched it at some point since it feels right up her alley). If neither of you has seen it though, it’s *definitely* worth a watch. Three original seasons, a fan-funded movie, and a short Amazon (I think? Or was it Hulu?) revival season.

Shane Driscoll

It really tickles me how you prefer Tuco over Marie. Say what you will about the guy, but I'll bet his voice-mails are aways concise and to the point.

Tay Schumaker

Excited for you guys to get back to Ted Lasso, but seasons 3 and 4 of Breaking Bad are two of my favorite seasons of any show ever. It just keeps getting better

Hussain Rumaih

dude, Ted Lasso and Breaking Bad would totally sync up, dude *puff puff*

Logan Kerlee

Enjoyed these episodes with you both! I've watched this already, so I'm aware of what's coming. Really enjoying watching the story progress and your theories along the way. You both rock!

Gary Fixler

Marie doesn't bother me nearly as much as George, but I know that feeling. Any angsty teen in anything ever I can't stand, and I sigh whenever they take up screen time. It's one reason I like Signs so much, despite it's flaws. The kids are so likable.

Shonnicus

Let's hurry up and finish Breaking Bad so I can cancel Netflix before they raise subscription. JK

JayF

I'm a huge fan of BB but you guys got me into Ted Lasso. I'd have never watched if you hadn't reacted to the show and I was pleasantly surprised. I say all that to say that I wouldn't mind you splitting your time between reactions to two shows during a week. It may even pay off for you as you two are certainly at or near the top of reaction output per dollar of subscription cost. So splitting shows may keep people from unsubbing if they aren't into the show you are currently watching. Anyway, just my 2 cents. Keep up the great work!

p0sthum4n

I think watching both shows each week is a good idea, personally. I'm definitely not watching Ted Lasso whereas there are other folks definitely not watching Breaking Bad. It'll keep both sub groups active.

p0sthum4n

Also, the quote is from comedian Tim Minchin. Maybe someone else said it but he's who I am aware of — "You know what they call alternative medicine that's been proved to work? Medicine." Edit: Meth was sold in the US for use with an inhaler in the 60s. By the 80s Mexican cartels started making it in smokable form. It became regulated in 1970 when the Controlled Substances Act was passed.

p0sthum4n

PS I don't know if Simone is as familiar with DS9 as she is with TNG but Tuco is in the season 7 episode "The Siege of AR-558"

Swede for the table

I wish you’d make ”youtube-length” versions of this! Wanna see your reactions and ”rewatch” the show, but not through the full episodes! Aint got time!

Jeff I.

Might try fast forwarding around the videos to the scenes you want to watch their reaction to. I do that sometimes if there's a scene a few minutes long in a movie or episode where nothing very reaction-worthy really happens.

The Film Effect

Keep ‘em coming and I’ll keep paying.

Jeff I.

So I checked out the first season of Ted Lasso out of curiosity after all the hype, and good lord is that show not for me at all. I couldn't even really enjoy the reactions from S & G to the first episodes because of how mediocre the show itself is. Looking forward to more Breaking Bad though, even if you do take a break or two between seasons!

Vig

I just LOVE the fact that you guys are watching this show. I'll be here for the entire ride. You'll love it.

Dk

Honestly, Marie running over the toy car made me like her more

Dk

Ya know, when the great villains of Breaking Bad are listed, Marie isn't really ever a part of it. But I think George would be the first person to put her in. And right at the top.

Brad Lowry

Raymond Cruz, the actor who plays Tuco, had a series long character in the LAPD Procedural "The Closer". He was similarly amazing in that series, but it a completely different way. He played the soft-spoken grown up Boy Scout of a cop who quazi-adopts a kid that is abandoned when they catch his murdering rapist father. I don't think The Closer is worth reacting to, but it is worth getting a glimpse at his character to understand the range of the actor from Detective Julio Sanchez to the high-octane Tuco Salamanca in Breaking Bad. He is an amazing actor, historic like Omar Little (Michael Kenneth Williams) in The Wire!

Michael Kang-Beats

George: I don't understand why you don't think Marie was standing up for Walt at the intervention. Having "thoughts" that coincide with standing up for Walter is standing up for Walter. Choosing to call it something different is reaching to try to make your point.

Michael Kang-Beats

It's not complicated when you try to rape your wife.

Deadly Ramon

That's right. He said it wasn't Christian to leave the guy behind, and came back later on his own to extract the carcass and bury it, but ended up getting trapped by the shifting stack and died from bleeding.

Brien Kliver

Simone, you have the greatest sound effects lmao
