Ooooooh I was expecting another Mission Impossible Sunday but this is a great choice!

JayF

Ooooooh yeah! I know you two loved this one. So excited to watch your reaction. :D

JediLounger

Simone is thinking of Soul Train. Classic show. Edit: another Keith David movie you guys would like is Pitch Black (2000). Second Edit: just finished the movie. I am also surprised that the movie has not been picked up as a series by one of the streaming platforms if WB does not want it. Seems to be a prime Netflix type movie or TV show.

Martin Nicholls

Oh great choice, *nice* surprise. Know what I'll be doing later..

Martin Nicholls

+1 Pitch Black. Also arguably fits in the [sci fi] horror segment, because sadly it's that month - only it's actually a good movie.

Odd Thomas

I was just thinking about this the other day! Shane Black scripts are THE BEST. The Long Kiss Goodnight and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are my top choices for you to watch next.

Kasa

YESSSSSSSSS

Nemo

Yay! I have waited a long time for this one. :D

Prof. Writhms

The opening music was the intro to "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by the Temptations, released in the 70s. And they used the old Warner Bros logo from the 70s as well. "Shaft" was a 70s movie, starring Richard Roundtree. He played the police commissioner in "Seven". Samuel L. Jackson starred in the remake in 2000. The theme music is very simular. You have a good ear and knowledge of soul music, George. You proved that when you reacted to "The Blues Brothers". Impressive! And I love this movie! "NICE" going!

Astraeos

How is Simone's hair like 6 inches longer than in the Poltergeist video

Odd Thomas

The daughter you probably know from Spider-Man as the popular girl but she's been in a ton of stuff.

Kyle Baker

What an awesome surprise!!!

Young Blood Priest

Simone, you’re thinking about the Soul Train dance line from the show Soul Train.

christopher b swanson

once upon a time in Hollywood was in 1969, not 70s................ doesn't matter, but I felt like being that guy...............i love this movie, i wish they did a sequel or someone could adapt as a series

Paul G

You probably recognize the daughter Holly (Angourie Rice) from the MCU/Tom Holland Spider-Man movies.

Odd Thomas

They do poll winners within the week and other stuff is recorded much earlier

Odd Thomas

What's The Waltons? Jesus I'm old. John Boy was a character in the Waltons TV show and the actor who played him, Richard Thomas, has a huge mole on his cheek, hence everyone referring to the assassin in Nice Guys as John Boy.

Odd Thomas

The kid in the opening is Ty Simpkins and he was the boy Tony Stark befriends in Iron Man 3 (also written & directed by Shane Black). Simpkins also had a cameo in End Game but nobody recognised him because he was a pretty tall teenager by then.

Odd Thomas

In the 70s kids could drive and seatbelts weren't a legal requirement. Drinking and driving was also, if not quite accepted, not a big deal either.

Odd Thomas

You also haven't yet watched THE Ryan Gosling film: Drive. He is a total badass in that.

FischerMax98

Amelia also played the hippie girl Brad Pitt gave the ride to in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, right? Had never heard of this one, but was very good.

Haye Zeus

Now Kiss Kiss Bang Bang! Go react now! Or whenever you can get to it. No rush.

Jared Winn

Haven’t seen this since the theaters and I forgot how wonderful it is. Laugh out loud hilarious and Ryan Gosling is a treasure. I hope the actor that plays Holly is in a million things in the future.

Spacedone

A Nice surprise, Guys... (Sorry, not sorry) Edit: I see that many other people have made similar puns. I'm still not sorry.

sarCC

Yay!!! Now you can watch Shane Black's directorial debut(and his best work[and Robert Downey Jr's best performance]) Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang!

Tay Schumaker

Agree with everyone saying to go watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Similar to this, but better for me. It’s one of my favorite movies

Brendan Rafferty

Simone, in the opening you’re talking about the 70’s show SOUL TRAIN… which was an update on the older show American Bandstand. Which just featured young people dancing to the latest hits. And yes the font is cery similar

Cincassette

You guys gotta check out some more of Ryan Gosling's films! "Drive" is excellent and might be one of his best! "Crazy, Stupid, Love." is a fantastic romantic comedy, in which he stars alongside Emma Stone and Steve Carell amongst others, Emma of course also alongside Gosling in the beautifully shot musical "La La Land".

Jeff I.

Such a great reaction! I'll throw in another recommendation for Drive, which also stars Gosling. It's an excellent mix of action and drama.

Spacedone

This was the best movie of 2016 and it came out of nowhere, completely unexpected. If you want more of that great comedic dialogue coupled with some good action, I'd recommend watch some other Shane Black movies such as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (the most similar to this movie), The Long Kiss Goodnight and The Last Boy Scout.

Brendan Rafferty

The daughter was in all the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Also since I am a music nerd, I noticed among the very cool posters on the daughter’s bedroom wall, showing her good taste in music, was a poster of the famous photo of the Clash live at the Palladium… in 1979… two years after this movie takes place

Spacedone

Margaret Qualley also has a movie coming out next year, by one of the Coen brothers, called Drive-Away Dolls that looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

George, If you were with me, you wouldn't be here in this strip club shaking it for dollar bills!

🖤Funny thing I learned about Yoohoo not too long ago. I thought it was chocolate milk with maybe a few other ingredients explaining why it tastes like chocolate milk, but also not really. Turns out it's just chocolate and water instead of chocolate and milk. Put chocolate syrup in cold water and it checks out. Its got high fructose corn syrup, some whey, and other rando ingredients since it's a manufactured food product but yeah... I guess Yoohoo has a better ring to it than chocolate water XD

Martin Nicholls

Great movie - written/directed by Shane Black who played Hawkins in Predator, and also wrote the original Lethal Weapon. It is a crime they didn't make more of these - it really is a whole franchise of movies just waiting to happen.

RabidMango

It is a travesty that this movie did not perform commercially and will likely never get the sequel it set up. I am disappointed in us as consumers, and I am sad.

Philipp Roensch

Oh yes, been waiting for this one, a favorite! Shane Black is a genius director and writer and this duo should just have more movies together.

Patrick

This should be fun. I saw this around the time it came out but I don't really remember it much. Pretty surprised it only shows a 76% liking on google user reviews but 91% on rotten tomato. It's usually the other way around for comedies.

Julian Calzada

I think you might recognize the girl playing Holly because she was in the Spiderman movies

Shibby

I love this movie it's hilarious and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it too. Thanks for the reaction.

Henkan

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a fantastic movie, definitely a great suggestion!

Spacedone

Unfortunately it was a US box office bomb on release, only making a little more than it's budget. Cinemas audiences can be really dumb and unappreciative of good movies sometimes.

Terdell Ferguson

So glad you were able to finally get to this one! THIS, along with Deadpool and Rogue One were the 3 best films I saw that year, in a great year for movies. All sit on my Top 100. Thanks for this!

Starman Deluxe

I hope there's a flood of "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" recommendations now. Shane Black is awesome

Logan Kerlee

I'm very happy that you both enjoyed this one! :) I had a great time watching this the first time I watched the movie. xD It was laugh out funny throughout! Such a great ride! All of the actors did a superb job playing their characters. I really don't know if I have a favorite among them. The daughter did do an amazing job playing such a level headed mature girl, though! So yeah, props to her on that. Also! How did you both not recognize Yoo-hoo?! xD That stuff is YUM!! One of my favorite treats. If I'm ever on my way out of a store and I see one chances are good that I'll snag it. :)

Jacob King

The boy at the start was from Iron Man 3 also directed by Shane Black. When March finds Sid’s body (ably played by Robert Downey Jr) Gosling is doing a Bud Abbott impression referencing the straight man/incompetent man dynamic that March and Healey have. Obviously, you should watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang which has very similar vibes and the same buddy dynamic. I’d also recommend Inherent Vice as another 70s noir comedy set in LA. It’s closer to The Big Lebowski in tone but has the same sort of shifts between rapid comedy and real emotions.

Richard Flores

I made a promise to "like" Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" recommendations in the edited comments. I have since gone through edited and un-edited comments. Know that there are a heck of a lot, and that you are not alone.

Jameson Yates

You ABSOLUTELY have to watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It's this movie but better.

Sckmnky

Isn't the girl who plays the daughter the girl from Spiderman who like dated Ned for a plane ride?
