Hope u guys continue riding the Jordan Peele train. Nope is his best one yet.

samuel Jakob

Cool tattoo and yes fresh tattoos always look so great! Well time to get into this messed up movie. :D also yeah I get u george, got sucked back into wow bc of HC again, not that crazy but still got me back into it^^

Ph4ZeD

5 mins into the video and George is confessing he's playing classic HC, PLEASE tell me you've been watching the death compilations, they are SO funny

JediLounger

I love that Peele won an Oscar for his first movie. He can basically write his own ticket and movie studios fall over themselves to put out whatever he wants to make. Us (2019) and Nope (2022) are testaments to this. Both of these movies would have been very difficult to make as they are, or would have massive changes without the clout Peele earned with his Oscar. I hope you guys do both of them so you can see how supremely messed up they are. He is one of the best directors working today and I look forward to everything he does.

Actuarial Lurker

Written by Jordan Peele of Key & Peele- one of the more interesting movies of the past 20 years- sort of the Sixth Sense of the 2000s

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

That Tengwar tat looks fantastic 🤙🏻 also yeah this film definitely made me watch Jordan Peele as an auteur. Definite Hitchcock and Spielberg influence but with his own unique print. Us is definitely worth checking out too

Actuarial Lurker

Love the multiple edged sword writing- as a NY upper class white male liberal myself, the movie is warning African Americans to beware of the "good intentions" of upper class white liberals who might have their own hidden agenda just to control you, Peele also (seems to me) to be critiquing that as African Americans gain money and power they "become white" on the inside and lose their heritage, and its also a horror "pod film" like Invasion of the Body Snatchers" - brilliant that he can pull of all three in parallel

JayF

I tried this one previously and couldn't get into it because of the pacing at the beginning. Hopefully you both enjoyed it though.

Patrick

I liked the symbolism of him literally picking the cotton out of the chair that he was held in, to save his own life.

Rob M

The original ending was going to be Chris being arrested by the police and Rod visiting him in prison. I’m glad they went with a happy ending though, the movie really needed it

The other day on the Friday the 13th reaction George asked if there were horror movies that break the final girl trope, I was thinking, "Yeah I know one really good one!" 😆 but of course I couldn't spoil it. Big Jordan Peele fan now, I mean he was hilarious on Key & Peele but I love the real Twilight Zone feel his movies have, although I haven't seen Us yet, I really loved Nope too, big recommend. I'm really loving a lot of the horror movies coming out lately from directors like Peele, Ari Aster, and Robert Eggers, as a horror fan it's been rich, and literally any time i see something coming out from Blumhouse or A24 I'm chuffed. Loved your reaction as always, keep 'em coming, and keep in mind, horror movies aren't just for Halloween!

sarCC

An absolutely masterclass in screenwriting that gets better every time I watch it. Almost every line is a setup.

Monica Alarcon

"My mother loved her kitchen so we keep a piece of her in here" pans to the maid... wow. This movie is so much better on second viewing...

Young Blood Priest

This movie is a personal favorite of mine so I’m so glad you guys liked it (Surprised you didn’t recognize Daniel Kaluuya from the first Black Panther movie as Chadwick Boseman’s best friend, though). Another good Kaluuya movie is Judas and the Black Messiah. Also starring LaKeith Stanfield (dude that gets kidnapped at the beginning of this movie). It’s a very well done historical movie so hopefully you’ll get around to checking that one out soon. He also plays a good villain in Widows with Viola Davis and Michelle Rodriguez.

Patrick

It's funny, even as a white dude living in NY, when I was dating my ex who was half Peruvian half Puerto Rican, the amount of questions I got about my ethnicity was wild! When I said I was half German, the dad made a Nazi joke lmao luckily I have a sense of humor and knew he was trying to be funny. Even for dinner her mom cooked some chicken cordon bleu and some macaroni salad. It was like she went online and searched "What do white people eat". They're intentions were pure though, and that's what matters.

Charlotte Drolet

Now I see why Rose didn't want the cop to check his ID.

REDR58

Daniel Kaluuya was also in Sicario as Emily Blunt’s FBI partner. Simone and George watched that awhile back.

Jordan Peele pretty much has never been *this* good since, film wise at least, eugh: Expertly crafted, beautifully filmed, almost each shot of this film could be framed, fantastically tightly written, a terrific story idea, etc, etc, etc... Don't get me started on the performances, the direction, the score, the costume or set designs... A true Master Class in film 101, infinitely re-watchable to boot. Not to mention how much you can tell/feel how personal and powerful a concept/story this is for its creator. I cannot praise this film enough.

Brad Lowry

OK George! I have a new nickname for you: "Spoiler Alert George!" Man, how do you figure these things out? Amazing. I almost listed your amazing hunches, but then I would be perpetrating a spoiler alert to anyone reading this. I usually watch your reactions of films I've already watched and enjoying them again while you are enjoying them the first time, and I've been amazed at your hunches. This, being my first time watching "Get Out", I experienced you being ahead of me. Very fun, and very amazing. Good on you!

TGrimace

I found the girlfriends death extremely satisfying. Dying cold and alone on the side of the road. Just like his mother. Very fitting.

Michael Kang-Beats

It's weird to talk about this film without talking about race. There are so many hints about how white culture takes from black culture without concern for the people of that culture. The white milk separated from the colored cereal.... The white turtle neck is the white stranglehold... the cotton picking... A less charitable commenter might say to be entertained by this film without discussing race, in particular, black people and their position in white society makes you more like the villains of the film rather than the protagonist. This isn't meant to be a negative comment. I love y'all for real.. I can understand wanting to wade into the waters of race can be treacherous - it can attract the worst reactionary chud commenters on youtube. But this film. With this filmmaker... :)

Odd Thomas

Another good Allison Williams horror is M3GAN. If I had to pick a favourite Jordan Peele movie its probably Us because it's more action-horror than the slow suspense of Get Out. Nope had some great moments but overall it was a frustrating mixed bag.

Tenn Seven

Yeah, this movie was dope AF. Jordan Peele is a hell of an artist.

Odd Thomas

There's a book/movie by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer where a girl has to share her brain with an alien parasite, both fighting for control. The book is better because it's mostly about the internal monologue but the movie is pretty decent. It stars Sairoise Ronan: The Host.

akaTheBARON

🖤"Is Iron Iron?" The Basement Yard Podcast? "We're eating metal? You can't eat metal..." "Yes Joey...." LOLLLLLL

akaTheBARON

🖤Simone telling George about the movie "Nope" was like an Abbot and Costello routine. "Who's on first" vibes LOLLL

Śéáń

Complete side comment but if you want more (amazing) Stephen Root material, "Barry" is an excellent series I think you'd both love. Short too, the four seasons are sets of eight 30min episodes.

sol stapleton

you should do 'nope' as well, i think it's an even better film.

Travis

Not sure if someone said this already but the original ending Jordan wanted to do was to actually have a cop show up and kill him because it was definitely a tale about a race in America. He decided against this ending because while they were shooting this the Ferguson, MO incident happened and they thought having that ending may stir things up too much and take away from the main point of the movie by politicizing it. Or something along those lines.

Middy

One of my favourite things about this movie is how it gets a similar reaction that anything focused on feminism gets — White audiences: Oh man, the subtleties! Black audiences: Subtle? Sure, it's exaggerated, but the reason it's being made obvious is to highlight some of the more nuanced situations real people experience, that often go completely unnoticed by the unaffected, privileged among us. It's a really smart form of edutainment and I'm all for it.

REDR58

Simone and George, please check out “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” from 1967. It’s like this, but without the horror! Seriously though, it’s an excellent movie.

NICKWEAKASS

Please watch “us” next

REDR58

Not that it matters given the family’s plan, but the mother starting the “therapy” without permission was unethical from the start.

ShadowStunts

Should definitely check out all of Peele's work

Clint Murphy

The creepy son is the same actor that plays Walt Jr's friend that always picks him up on Breaking Bad.

Grand Moff Slackin'

Ok sure but I mean… I really would have voted for Obama for a third term if I could of.

Jared Winn

I know I’m the millionth one to probably say it, but def need to check out Us and Nope. And do as little research as possible for Nope please.

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

Def would recommend both Us and Nope as others have said. Jordan Peele is doing great work. Also would recommend M3GAN which has Allison Williams.

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

It would be 2nd of the 3 for me (w US being third) but all are very good and deserve reaction.. Jordan Peele is doing good work

Logan Kerlee

So I've got a book of a comment again. I can't help myself. xD It's just how I do these things. LUL Whenever I'm watching a watchalong I just type my thoughts on everything. So again, I'll be posting that whole dealio as a comment to this one, in hopes that it won't clutter this area.

Logan Kerlee

Does Simone come up with these random intros before she says them? lmao, wow Geoge! Nope is a Jordan Peele horror film, yeah. I don't know jack about this movie other than it being horror and actually freaky. I'm not thrilled to be watching this. lmao, I could just continue watching Doom Patrol.. but nope, here I am! Preparing myself for this horrorshow. Oh joy, oh joy! xD I'm such a wuss when it comes to these movies. This is a fucked up type of movie is my guess. The fuck is going on? I really like that apartment. That was surprising, the animal hitting the car! If I hadn't of seen that in a trailer I'd of freaked out. Living where I do, deer are a frequent thing to see while you're out on the road. This sort of thing just happens. The cop though - he's fucked up, obviously. My guess is that he'll be back at some point later on or that it's a preview of how the parents will be at some point. lmao, wow! My dad's not against deer or anything. He's a hunter though, so he prefers them to be around. lol, YUP! My prediction was accurate. Her family seems pretty off and slightly racist. lol, and that's only increasing as time passes. lol, the dad is only trying to make conversation - they don't know each other at all. Genetic makeup.. this creep is bad news. Right, George. lol, NO SHE DOESN'T! xD The mom may be least bad of the bunch, but she's no angel. Her eyes told the story. She wanted him out of there. I didn't get a supernatural vibe at all with this, so far at least. Just a creepy ass movie. That running dude, what the fuck was that about? Now we're back in with the mom and her hypnosis. So yup, that's the deal with the two black people who live there already, is my guess. Yeah, no, she's a villain. Yup, you were right George - I'm pretty sure. I've got that same feeling at least. So yup, he woke up mysteriously back in bed. My guess - she commanded him to return to bed. She appears to be on his side, at least. "It's all in the hips, it's all in the hips!" xD Happy Gilmore reference. Has he taken any pictures at all or is he just looking around with the camera? My name's Logan and it's strange to have a character with my name. That was ODD, everyone dropping silent. George you might be right, this may be an auction scenario. Then this auction happened also silently. Big on the creep factor for sure. Here comes the horror night, methinks. Jango would TOTALLY be an awesome addition to this movie! I so want him to show up and dispense some justice here. She's totally done this before, yeah. That whole bit with him looking up at the scene in front of him but through that small window, thing. Yeah, scary as fuck. Okay so I've stopped writing. This shit is WILD. Trading consciousness between bodies to keep them living. Big yikes on that. FUCKING WELL PLAYED GEORGE. hahaha, damn. I was thinking that may happen but damn. xD That kill - the way he got the dad was fucking LEGIT! BING is evil. YUP! I'll always be a Google user. Drinking milk with a fucking straw. What the hell? Hell yeah! The way this is ending is fucking crazy. What the fuck?! hahahaha, wow! NOT THE TIME FOR A FUCKING JOKE! xD I'm over here thinking the family is some immortal family cult dealio. Like, have they been alive for hundreds of years and have just been transplanting again and again? Honestly surprised that you guys haven't brought that up yet. I mean, it's clear that they've been around for a good long while when you remembeer the whole grandfather running a long ass time ago or whatever. Like, have they kept on doing this for multiple "generations" and were transitioning to a black one? That's my take on it. The whole locked in syndrome - yeah, freaky ass shit. I've had numerous surgeries throughout my life and I've had VERY similar fears with them. Not being able to awaken after being put under - no thanks on that! This movie creeped me the hell out. Won't be having nightmares or anything with this. It's a mega dark and terrible story. 100% with both George and Simone on enjoying their deaths at the conclusion. My whole concern is - what happens with the main character after this? What will her family do as a result? Was the entire town under their control, like you guys thought earlier? (or was that just me?) I don't know. I'm just in the "What the fuck was that and how is it all playing out afterwards?" mode right now. This movie is fucking crazy! I now understand why it got as much attention as it did. Good shit!

MatthewBrown74m

Scream 2 is good unappreciated in my opinion, 3rd was.....well..... 4th well some like it some didn't

Noe Ramirez

The wow conversation at the start is funny because currently Im trying to play more video games because I feel like I spend too much time working and Im trying to relax more. Even these sometimes I'll do chores while listening to these because I know the movies so well and like the reactions. Lol anyways sick movie! Horror movie that came out recently that I love and I think you should watch is Talk To Me. It was made by YouTubers and it's brutal and in my opinion pretty fucking scary.

Jacob King

I Loved the reaction. George thinking Rose might be the final girl gave me a chuckle. When she flips into the real Rose she puts her hair up into a ponytail, a look that recalls Sidney’s ponytail at the start of Scream (probably not deliberate but it jumped out watching them back to back). Rose is the final girl in a lot of ways. I always think of Walter’s suicide as Walter shooting Roman Armitage who just happens to be living in his head. This movie indirectly led to me being a vegetarian thanks to the book Racism as Zoological Witchcraft which mashes up film criticism with a deconstruction of the politics of meat eating and consumption. A good one for anti-utilitarians. Also, Being John Malkovich by Spike Jonze (from Jackass) should definitely be on your radar. It features Catherine Keener in a role that strongly links to Get Out in a fun way and it’s a great absurdist movie.

BangDroid

Malkovich Malkovich, Malkovich. Malkovich; Malkovich - Malkovich.

BangDroid

I saw Being John Malkovich when it first came out when I was a kid, and probably 10 times since, it's such a trip of a movie. I don't see Get Out as original like so many others do and takes away from the experience a bit. Similarly, I can imagine people seeing BJM now after Get Out, knowing there's a connection, will not experience the same impact.

Dustin Duvall

Time to watch Jordan's next movie: "Nope."
