Scream 2 is really good as well. Also the ultimate end goal of the horror movie references journey… Scary Movie 😏

Danika Silva

Other teen slashers in this era were I know what you did last summer, prom night, Deadmans curve, urban legends...

Jeff K

So the writer said he based Stu and Billy at least in part on Leopold and Loeb, and that there’s an undertone of them either being in love with one another but in the closet, or Billy knowing Stu loves him and using that to manipulate him. Also, Fred the janitor is played by Wes Craven.

Michael

I’m surprised you aren’t already fans of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds (Re: that music track). They seem up your alley.

Pam Nail

The Scream sequels are all good in my opinion and worth watching, but none of them come close to the original. One of the unique things about the franchise is that it ducks the ridiculousness of horror sequels that keep bringing back the same killers who should have died a dozen times over. Because Ghostface is just a costume, every sequel can bring a new killer. Wes Craven didn't like the line about the Nightmare sequels because he thought is made him sound egotistical, since he didn't direct any of them. Then someone reminded him that he directed the 7th movie (New Nightmare). I think 2 and 3 are great Nightmare sequels, and 7 is an interesting installment as well. And after Casey's utterly confident wrong answer re Friday the 13th, I'm dubious she's seen any of the Nightmare sequels anyway. :P

Jeff K

Oh and by the way, I feel like this one is for Simone: the guy who wrote Scream? Same guy who created Dawson’s Creek and The Vampire Diaries.

Dazzler & Em

The first 3 scream films are almost considered a triolgy in terms of story. 2 and 3 are definetly worth watching. The others are only so, so.

Danika Silva

Yay, now you have to watch the movie I know what you did last summer, please 💯💯🫶🇨🇦🤭

Andy Goergen

Wes Carpenter's finest work.

Jerrett thompson

So I’m in agreement with James from Dead Meat. There is no bad Scream. The only what I would say is average is 3 in my books but still quite enjoyable. So I would say watching all of them is a must. The only problem I can for see is since this series of movies are a commentary on Horror movies they do talk about them a lot. And they spoil them to varying degrees. But I do think this one is the worst of it about straight spoiling big things.

Jeff K

Speaking of spoiling horror movies, when people were saying they needed to watch Halloween first I was like, “Huh?” I completely forgot just how much of that movie they actually just literally show in Scream.

Helly R

Mileage varies hugely on the sequels it seems. 3 is by far the worst IMHO. Really like 2 and 4. But all worth watching I think.

Chase Lonnergan

Simone's "I can do a pretty good Batman" sounds exactly like Keeley's Roy Kent impression. And now you can't unhear it. I think that the only movie that you are missing for Scary Movie is I know What You Did Last Summer, just to get the jokes. And I am a huge fan of the South Park Canadian George in George's background.

Tmatts

Highly recommend all of the Scream movies. I don't think there are any that you guys would dislike.

Kinokind

Although Scream is usually credited as the first "meta" horror movie, you should check out the story of "There's Nothing Out There" (1991), a horror comedy where one of the characters specifically calls out the horror tropes, as in Scream. Its young writer/director recalls talking to Scream writer Kevin Williamson about his idea for a "meta" horror film where the characters are aware of other horror films and the rules they follow, and he suggests the Williamson "borrowed" his idea. "There's Nothing Out There" is well worth watching, and although ultra low budget, much more campy, and much sillier, it has its merits. It should at least be recognized for its revolutionary trope-breaking concept. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtCGIZaHxUM

Jeff I.

I wouldn't bother doing any of the series beyond the second one. They just get progressively worse IMO.

Middy

4 was a return to form and I'll die on that hill, but not before taking out everybody who dares oppose me. 5 and 6 are great fun too.

Chris Henderson

Now y'all definitely gotta watch Scary Movie 1.

Byron Abrahams

George, you looked like you were loving every minute of it, dude.

Timothy Sugiura

Neve Campbell's father taught drama at my high school!

Travis H

I agree they should watch Scary Movie, but they need to watch Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer first.

Travis H

You should watch all the Scream movies, 3 isn’t great (and I’m personally not a fan of 6, but am in the minority) but non of them are unwatchable (4/6 are amazing) and they are all connected. And this is coming from someone who can’t handle horror movies but loves the Scream series.

James Falato

Knife wounds and gun shots to the torso do usually have the victim survive quite a bit longer than in films... But a 1:30 hour to 2 hour film taking 15-or-more minutes for folk to die would be unacceptable...

Jon Johns

Have Simone or George ever seen Twin Peaks? Probably wouldn't do well on YouTube, but it would be a fun reaction, even if it's just season 1...

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Any David Lynch film is worth the watch. The one that’d probably get the most attention though might be Blue Velvet or maybe his take on Dune (1984) after we get Dune Part 2 later next year.

JoeNotCharles

Scream was absolutely not the first "meta" horror movie, and it's not like the earlier ones were obscure. Fright Night, from 1985, and The Lost Boys, from 1987, are notable examples.

p0sthum4n

The horsepower on that garage door. Strongest garage door ever built by man.

MR

Garage doors are dangerous af, the mechanism contains a huge spring under tension to balance the weight of the door, which can seriously f you up if you mess around with it.

Anonymous

you guys should definitely watch Scary Movie after this, it does a great job of spoofing this movie

Deano

Matthew Lillard killed it as always

Andrew

This is a long call-back, but the video store clerk guy is the same guy who randomly shows up to piss next to Kumar in the woods in "Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle." Jamie Kennedy. Probably his only two good roles. He's been in some atrocious movies, lol.

Mark Rohal

Blasphemy. "Kickin' it Old School" and "Malibu's Most Wanted" are great movies.

HeyHeyJK

So, because of Simone's love of D&D and fantasy and George's perhaps knowledge of it through osmosis and/or actually playing (and fantasy), I thought I'd let you know that Matthew Lillard himself just launched a board game called "Ring of Chaos" today on Kickstarter that has a lot of D&D/RPG elements which includes standard fantasy quest elements, as well, too, also. I don't do the RPG thang but am a big board game geek and I think it looks fun and you can check it out at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/beadleandgrimms/ring-of-chaos?ref=ksr_email_user_watched_project_launched if'n you're interested and such and so forth. 'k, bye.

Mattmartigan

Definitely should watch 2 and 3 to get the full trilogy story…for 4-6: eh, someday lol
