Please be respectful to each others opinions, we're all just here to have fun and watch movies :)

Comments

Miro Salom

Holy shit there are some good films on this poll

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Great list of choices. The Big Short’s one terrific movie that somehow makes banking highly fascinating and its greed even more sickening, and The Social Network has excellent direction and a killer soundtrack

Garrett Mazzuca

Yeah, there's no losing on this week's poll

redddfer44

Go, Big Short and Hidden Figures! I've been meaning to watch both. Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon would also fit here.

Jack Koehler

Forget Braveheart and watch Outlaw King, a lot better and while still took a few liberties, significantly more accurate historically.

GnolRevilo

Dunkirk is one of Nolan's lesser liked films but I still find the cinematography in particular absolutely fantastic. Music and sound design is sublime too.

TD

Can you put Super Troopers on the next comedy poll? I think it would be a great movie to watch both of you react to!

My name is Jere

This week we got many good films. And few new to me. What ever wins i'll watch from these

Seefah

How is it possible Hidden Figures has got so little votes?! Amazing movie.

Sharona

Would love to see you add Only The Brave on here. It was a heartbreaking reality that occurs, but is a good reminder to appreciate those who do it everyday.

Adam Ingram

Another good one for this would be 'Almost Famous.' Inspired by director Cameron Crowe's previous career as a music journalist.

michael clarke

whats funny is that braveheart, catch me if you can and argo have basically all been debunked as hollywood horseshit.

Dibbles

Was hoping for United 93 tbh

Den Radar Ryan

'Braveheart' is a classic epic and amazing film but also incrediblly historically inaccurate lol 🗡️

Onno Smits

Great choices! Sully (2016) would be another great "based on real events" movie. Starring Tom Hanks and directed by Clint Eastwood.

Joe Williams

Here for all of these. Going for The Social Network for the sizzling dialogue. Some other true story recommendations: In The Name Of The Father Raging Bull Malcolm X Almost Famous (very loosely inspired by the director's real life experiences)

Jason Rivero

Hoping for The Big Short, but I’m pretty sure we all need to see the one millionth reaction to Braveheart.

RedDaveR32

Trumbo is another great pic to add.

Joey Shepard

-Inspired- by actual events does not mean replicated tho'. That's what differentiates written movie scripts from documentaries. And that's okay. Reality usually makes a really boring movie :)

Tim T—

I voted for Braveheart, for its utter lunacy. It's stretching "inspired" beyond the meaning of that word. For a better movie on Scottish history I'd recommend Rob Roy (1995). It's rainy and cold today, so I leave some nautical movies here, both inspired by real events, both by the same director: Das Boot (1981, 1997) and The Perfect Storm (2000). Are you still doing your Last Month's Movies Retrospectives?

Jordy's_Here!

Keeping my fingers crossed for Catch Me If You Can! One of my personal favorites!

dudewheresmycar

Should be noted that in terms of historical accuracy, Catch Me if You Can, Argo, and Braveheart are amongst the worst offenders for essentially being complete bullshit. Of those listed The Big Short is probably the most accurate, as even when the movie deviates from history, the movie straight up tells you when it does.

Joey Shepard

Braveheart is imo. one of the most epic movies ever made and definitely one of Gibson's best works. Hope to see it on the channel sooner or later =)

Andy Smith

Added my vote. Just wondering are you going to watch Army of Darkness? Loved your reactions to the first two

Kyle Baker

I like both movies and would love to see either but it turned out that 'Catch me if you can' is even more BS than 'Braveheart'. Along those same lines, a 'Bloodsport' reaction someday would be very entertaining.

Senec

Nobody(2021) could be on this list! :D. Just putting out another shameless plug for it.

redddfer44

Oh, and Bernie (2011) is an excellent film with Jack Black in an atypical role. For the best experience, go in blind.

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

Lots of choices that would be excellent..I voted Hidden Figures as my one vote because I had a feeling it would not get much love and it is absolutely wonderful film about a far too unknown group of women in history

Deserana12

Amazing choices on this list, hope a lot of them make returns on future polls. However The social network is an easy choice. It’s the movie that essentially defines the last decade, such an important movie with an incredible screenplay and soundtrack.

Ashcroft Production-House

Please watch at least some of the following award winners: 1) MILK (2008). 2) Finding Nerverland (2004) starring Johnny Depp. 3) Kinsey (2004) starring Liam Neeson. 4) Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)

Ashcroft Production-House

Also Braveheart is not even remotely inspired by true events and is largely regarded as one of the most historically inaccurate 'true-stories' ever filmed. However, it is a beautiful film... it's just not in any way what it claims it is.

Jason McCloud

Shocked to see Dunkirk doing so poorly

Miles E Coburn

Actual disclaimer from the “Braveheart” credits – “This motion picture is inspired by actual events. However, the names of certain of the characters have been changed and certain incidents portrayed have been dramatized.” For all those decrying historical inaccuracies in movies that are neither promoted nor hailed as historically accurate (i.e. “Braveheart” is listed as “Biography / Drama / History”), you’re doing it wrong if you’re looking for historical accuracy in anything other than a “Documentary”. And even then, you have to look at the film with a certain amount of skepticism. Any time “Drama” is introduced into the story, such as “inspired by” and “based on” stories, facts go out the window.

jackers

Leo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg - My Vote for Catch Me If You Can

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

Considering the theme was hoping for - Dog Day Afternoon or - First They Killed My Father or - 12 Years a Slave

Mark Messer

Ever since you guys started this channel, I always hoped you would eventually watch Braveheart. If it doesn’t win, I know you’ll eventually get to it, but I hope it does well.

jdupre7877

Considering that we are in the beginning stages of a market and real estate collapse, I think the Big Short would be appropriate

Jay Davis

Oh. Man! Dunkirk AND The Big Short on the same poll? Gah! Now I'm torn for who to root for!!!

Spacedone

A few other films based on real events to throw into the hat for a future poll: Spotlight Patriots Day Cinderella Man Memories of Murder The Bank Job (this ones a bit tenuous but I love the film)

Nathan Swapp

I love Braveheart but it should be seen like a fantasy movie rather than historical.

Martin

Man, this sucks. There is literally one movie on this list I didn’t care for, and it’s the one that is winning.

Nathan Swapp

Outlaw King is the better movie over Braveheart for a medieval historical epic.

redddfer44

All the President's Men

Alex Ch

Putting in a request for John Who’s craziest and most popular American movie - Face/Off. enormously fun.

W T

I love myself most of those films (don't care a lot about Dunkirk though), but I definitely was not expecting the Big Short to draw the short straw among those. Hidden Figures would have been a great pick too.

Conner

Just so you guys know if braveheart wins, it is famously incredibly inaccurate to actual events. Very good movie though.

Tay Schumaker

Never expect Big Short to win, but it's one of my favorite movies from the last 10 years

The Gunslinger

Could you cover Atlantis: The Lost Empire?

Philipp Roensch

Voting for almost all of them I guess :D

DonkyDave

Shame that The Insider didn't make it to the list, true story with Russell Crowe & Al Pacino!

Stu84

Add JFK to the list.

jmundt33a

Now see, this is where you need multi-voting. You have four equally excellent choices. And your lesser ones are two Best Picture winners and an ambitious war picture.

Happy Hanukkah

I can't for the life of me understand how you failed to include Zardoz (1974) in this poll.

Robb

Inspired in real events .... Everest 2015 needs to be in this list also Hacksaw Ridge 2016 beautiful movies

Salleban

JFK and Patriot's day should be in the future watch list!

Jeff I.

Sad to see Dunkirk and The Big Short doing relatively poorly for how great they both are. If you do a poll like this again, I'd highly suggest '12 Years A Slave' being on it. It's an amazing film based on a real person. Another good one based on a real person is 'A Beautiful Mind' starring Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly.

Matthew Brown

Patriot day and deep water Horizon should be on here

Eugene Reilly

Ironically, since "Unbreakable" was last week's winner, you would have been good to include "Unbroken" this week. It's. film adaptation of Louie Zamperini's story - an olympic runner who joins the military during WWII as part of a bomber team; shot down; becomes a prisoner of war in Japan; survives incredible conditions and lives to 97.

GBmain

Come on voters let's go The Big Short... Let's not be silly here.. great cast, fantastic true story they'll love... I know DiCaprio is dreamy but let's be serious lol

Tenn Seven

Not much love for "Argo," huh? I thoroughly enjoyed that movie.

Mr. Writhms

Can we have a music biopic poll? “Walk The Line” (2005, Johnny Cash) “Get On Up” (2014, James Brown) “The Doors” (1991, The Doors) “Purple Rain” (1984, Prince, semi-biopic) “Rocket Man” (2019, Elton John) “Elvis” (2022) “Ray” (2004, Ray Charles) “Bohemian Rhapsody” (2018, Queen)

Henkan

Movie suggestion: the Handmaiden (2016) - preferably the Director's Cut.

Helly R

3/4 of these are flat out brilliant so you should just watch them all.

Brad Lowry

"Hidden Figures" also deserves love! Do check it out on your own. It's a pretty good movie about an AMAZING true story. Love when Octavia Spencer steals a Fortran library book – racism forcing her to steal to get the education she craves. Jim Parson also deserves accolades for taking his acting seriously playing a despicable person... BTW, was not able to *also* vote for this... could only vote for one... but then again, I voted *for* only voting for *one* recently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Craig D

i wish this list had The Impossible (2012). about the tsunami that hit thailand.

Kevin

Much as I love Social Network, there is a severe lack of reaction out there to Catch Me, and I really want that to win.

JayF

I'd love a reaction to The Big Short but looks like CMIYC is going to run away with this one. It's a very good movie but very historically inaccurate.

j c

Not in the poll, but an entirely true story that I guarantee you'll love despite not being at all interested in the subject matter: Ron Howard's "Rush" (2013) Also, are you really considering watching Argo? A movie about a great real life Canadian exploit that pretends it was done by Americans?

Eik104

Only reason I don't like the social network is because I can't stand Jesse Eisenbergs acting, but that's like my opinion, man. It's probably objectively a good movie. My vote goes to Braveheart for this one :)

Patrick

All great choices.

Anatol

My favorite in this category is "The Imitation Game" (2014) but some of these are also very great.

Guy-on-Couch

Social Network is beating Braveheart? what is this world coming to?

Random Nevermind

Two very good true story movies for the next poll: "Green Book" and "The People vs. Larry Flynt"

Thomaz Chagas

Some suggestions: - Almost Famous (2000) - Big Fish (2003) - Make sure Simone is hydrated before watching. - 12 angry men (1957)

Rachel W

A film that came out the same year as Braveheart and also about a Scotish hero, "Rob Rob" is amazing, too. Better, imo, than BH.

JayF

One that's definitely missing from a list like this is A Beautiful Mind. Great accurate movie based on a true story directed by Ron Howard and starring Russell Crowe. Another would be Awakenings (1990) starring Robin Williams and Robert De Niro.

Rachel W

I'd really love Simone and George to do, "All the President's Men"(1976). Fantastic film about the journalists that uncovered the Watgergate scandal that brought down a President. Simone would love the investigative aspect and it's a brilliantly directed film

Isaiah Espinosa

Plz eventually do Dunkirk. It’s a masterpiece!

keeperofthegloom

The Big Short probably won't win, but I hope you guys watch it at least on your own if not for the channel. One of those movies everyone should see.

p0sthum4n

Very excited for Catch Me If You Can KNAWCK KNAWCK

Michael Buhl

Inspired by real events/people Dog Day Afternoon (1975) 24 Hour Party People (2002) The Battle of Algiers (1966, French and Arabic languages) Bonnie and Clyde (1967) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) A Bridge Too Far (1977) Chinatown (1974) Raging Bull (1980)

Wookalar

I would love to see y’all do Death to Smoochie.

Foodassassin4life

I know you did an anime fairly recently but please watch Cowboy Bebop. It's and amazing anime with a fantastic dub so no need to worry about subtitles and it's on multiple streaming services. I know there is usually a stigma for anime but this one isn't over the top anime it's more grounded for what it is. I think you both will love it at least that's my hope

MoonageDaydream

Been waiting for you to do Braveheart forever! Hope to see it on the channel soon 🤞🏻

Jobbe Smit

Braveheart is a great movie but the word 'inspired' does a lot of heavy lifting :P

sarCC

Hmmm...I guess The Social Network is the best of these? Although, Hidden Figures has some great performances in it, too.

Gary Trousdale

I’m sorry that Hidden Figures is so far down in the poll. Really an excellent story and movie.

Mathew Hill

Pride (2014) - British historical comedy-drama, it’s equally heartbreaking and heartwarming, based on the true story of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to support the British miners' strike in 1984. Sadly underrated but a massive inspiration and features Dominic West who played McNulty in The Wire doing some fabulous dancing.

MPH

Dunkirk is Nolan's masterpiece. I think it's the best war movie, period. Please watch it one day. Can't complain about Catch Me If You Can, but Dunkirk is one of my top 2 movies of all time.

CD

I am blown away by these early results. Catch Me If You Can…comfortably over The Social Network!?

Brandon Meng

They probably wouldn't win but The King's Speech and The Imitation Game would've been great for this poll. Also, Argo is the best movie on this list but Catch Me If You Can is the most fun.

Chase Schleich

Catch Me If You Can and Braveheart? Hells yeah

David S

A poll about real people/events and no "Ed Wood"? SOOO disappointed... I say that knowing that if it was on a poll, it probably wouldn't do well because I doubt very many people have seen it. Still a fun little movie. I really do think you guys would like it

JoeE

Would also recommend glory, ed wood and eight men out

Robinson vs. Parkinson's

I'm going to keep up my tradition of recommending greatly underrated, possibly even misunderstood films that no one will vote for: CLOUD ATLAS.

Ben Rogers

If you guys reacted to the social network and catch me if you can I'd love it, those are top tier movies

MacGuffinStuff

Oof, one of those polls where every choice is good, although, let's be real, Braveheart is probably the most least factually accurate choice (and yet an awesome movie). Not gonna browbeat anyone over the historical accuracy, I'm sure George has seen Simon Whistler's take on it at least, so he knows. All that said, I voted for it, great movie.

Steve Mercier

I'd pretty much watch any of these...Braveheart is pure bullshit (one of the most inaccurate historical movies of all time), but it's still a damn good watch.

Byron

I think all of these except Catch Me if You Can were nominated for Best Picture. And Argo and Braveheart won that award. Sooo … nice.

Kelly Pickard

Please vote for The Big Short, I'm begging you! It's SUCH a good movie!

soup3097

Social Network is the best choice here

Lola Lirola

Let's do women's biopics, so that there's not just one option! - Erin Brockovich (about the fight of Erin Brockovich against corruption and water plant poisoning, played by Julia Roberts) - Frida (about surrealist painter Frida Kahlo, played by Salma Hayek) - Colette (about bisexual, genderqueer French writer Sidonie Colette, played by Keira Knightley) - What's Love Got to Do With It (about singer Tina Turner, played by Angela Bassett) - Gorillas in the Mist (about conservationist Diane Fossey, played by Sigourney Weaver) - An Angel at My Table (Jane Campion's second ever film, about New Zealand troubled writer Janet Frame, played by Kerry Fox) - The Impossible (a Spanish family, although they are played by Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, survives Thailand's tsunami) * Plus: I, Tonya (about figure skater Tonya Harding, played by Margot Robbie), which I already nominated in the Sports movies round

BlakeK80DrumCovers

Braveheart is the most made up piece of garbage of the last 30 years. Catch me if you can is great, mind bending actually. I'd vote for Dunkirk though. It's on an entirely different level than every other movie on this list.

BlakeK80DrumCovers

Can i please offer up the Danny Boyle 2007 cult classic Sci-Fi drama "Sunshine" as a possible movie to react to? I think you would both really enjoy it and would make a great reaction video.

Steve kephart

Frank Abagnale, the real life person from Catch Me If You Can did a talk at Google a few years ago and it is very fascinating. Well worth watching if you enjoyed the movie.

Juley

How does Hidden Figures keep losing so badly in these polls? It’s an amazing movie! It also seems to be the only movie in the poll that focuses on women. And the only one focused on Black people. Hmmmm.

Daniel Bjork

Pretty much all of these are worth a watch

Andrew

As everyone is saying, Braveheart is definitely not "period correct," but it's a damn good movie.

Leovinus

There are SO many good movies here! Keep The Big Short on the list please - that movie is insanely underrated.

Mark Messer

There’s a good chance that a Braveheart was never made, the Lord of the rings trilogy wouldn’t have either. Peter Jackson said that he did take a lot of inspiration in the way the movies were filmed, from Braveheart. He wanted to capture that same look.

Mark Messer

If you do watch Braveheart, just go into it, as if it were some sort of fantasy film. Like others have said it’s not that accurate to real history. However, it’s still Damn Good movie. Historic fiction. I hope these negative comments don’t sway you too much.

Fattydoe

Braveheart is one of the greatest films ever made

Dazzler & Em

As always, some good films on the poll. As you liked 1917, would definetly recommend Dunkirk. They are very different from each other but are both emotional, moving and shot superbly. In my opinion Dunkirk is another Nolan masterpiece and possibly one of the best film of the last 10 years. A few more recommendations, Spotlight( may be difficult due to you tube filters, considering subject matter), Imitation game and Gran Torino

Jacob King

Would have loved to have seen The Death of Stalin on the poll.

micah

wow! great poll!! i hope to see yall react to the big short someday

colirino

Braveheart should be the next one.

Grand Moff Slackin'

If The Big Short is eventually watched, it might be worthwhile to watch some kind of YouTube primer on the housing crisis and and financial crash of 2008. The movie does a good job of explaining events but it can hard to follow if going in completely blind because while your catching up more info is being pumped out.

Brad Lowry

FYI, (for me, on a mac using chrome) now checking more than one is possible, but unchecking is not possible, indeed, it "feels" unresponsive in general... all good, just to let you know

erosennin

yay I feel like this is the first time I voted in a poll and the movie I voted for is actually the leading one :D

Alex Ch

There were a lot of good choices in this one. I would be happy if these end up being watched or added to other polls.

Scott G

This really doesn't pertain to this poll but I don't know where else to put it - since you guys did Spinal Tap I really want reactors to start tackling the Christopher Guest mockumentary trilogy - Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind. I KNOW you guys would love them.

Turnt SNACO

Yessss, I just watched one of your reactions, and something y'all asked made me realize you would LOVE Catch Me If You Can, and it looks like it will win. So glad to see it!!

Kyle Vineyard

Voted for Argo, even though Canada doesn't get nearly the rep in that movie that they deserve with that op.

Lex Kuzma

Oh man, you HAVE to watch Braveheart at some point. Such a fantastic film.

Leon Agnew

Braveheart is completely inaccurate, but a great film.

Jesse

It's not on the list but I highly recommend Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut. If you watch it, make sure it's the Director's Cut though, they are almost completely different films from the theatrical version.

Dustin Duvall

One of those times I wish I could pay for a watch. The big short is an all time favorite. They took a few liberties for the storytelling but it's scarily accurate

Shane Darcy

Wow Im so happy Catch Me if You Can won this. Wouldn’t have anticipated that. In my personal top 10

Dirge Girl

Ravenous (1999) - The script was loosely inspired by the Donner Party, as well as the story of Alferd Packer... bam, relevant.

Martin Roca

"GOLD" is also a good movie based on a true story. Tells the story of the discovery of one of the biggest gold mine in the 20th

T__K8

Some real good films in this poll. Quick shoutout for First Man (2018) for this genre.

Big Gee

Some good pics in this poll. New Patreon hear can’t wait to finally watch full length reactions

Robert Cooper

"The Right Stuff", "Apollo 13", and "Hidden Figures" are a trilogy, and nobody is going to change my mind.

MPH

Every movie on this list but Argo is great. Braveheart is overrated but ultimately worth watching. I guess Argo is worth watching because the event itself is interesting, but it's not a very good film.

Nya

Hidden figures being so low really makes me wanna cry😭

soup3097

Damn hope you react to Social Network soon even though its going to lose

Rachel W

"The Right Stuff"(1983) is a brilliant film about the selection of the first astronauts and the space race w/Russia. It's in turns-funny, dramatic, inspiring. And wonderfully acted with an amazing ensemble cast and brilliant score. My all time fav film.

Rachel W

"Norma Rae"(1979)is an Oscar winning film about the efforts of a woman to unionize the garment industry in the deep south. True story and an Oscar winning performance by Sally Field. It's fantastic.

Lachlan Caldwell

Will a poll for Christmas movies be coming soon? If so I would like to recommend: How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) - Staring Jim Carrey. Home Alone 2 (1992) Violent Night (2022)

Eversharpe

Cracks me up that 2 of the leading choices, Catch Me if You Can and Braveheart, are pretty much just historical fiction. IE some of the characters are real but but the stories are almost complete fictions.

colirino

Honestly I will probably just skip the vids for Catch me if you can and The Social Network

Leon Agnew

Into The Wild would be a good one for this category.

No0neAtAll

Spotlight Is another great movie that fits this category.

MasterElodin

Free Solo as well but I doubt George would survive that one lol

TokyoLopez

i’m judging everyone who voted for braveheart

2026-09-07 00:00 Let’s do an “underrated” movie poll! I’d vote Death to Smoochy and Joe vs the Volcano
2023-11-18 21:19

Gratch... just Gratch

I like most of these movies. I'll look forward to most of them. Just to add my voice to future recommendations: "Short Circuit", hilarious, George will have a lot to say about the movie's ideas of AI, "The Straight Story", also based on a true story, hardly anybody reacts to it, "Frailty" Fantastic movie, hugely underrated, you guys will love it.

Mycenaeus

"The Hindenburg" (1975) and "I Want to Live" (1958) are both inspired by real events, and both directed by Robert Wise, who made also "The Curse of the Cat People" (1944) and "The Andromeda Strain" (1971).
