I kinda agree with Simone on the whole aunt thing lol... I have a Vietnamese friend and everybody is a cousin or uncle whether or not there is a blood relation. Maybe it's a cultural difference between the West and East/Southeast Asia

Seeing alot of sequels and franchises reacted to lately but still no lethal weapon 3 & 4. I hope you haven't decided not to bother because of some people in the comments saying they're no good. I guarentee you both will love them. Especially 4.

Bonzo was the chimp in a Ronald Reagan movie, and one of my favorite Ramones songs is "Bonzo Goes To Bitburg" which is about Reagan

Not sure if you know this already but the son being called Cornelius is a call-back to the original Charlton Heston 'Planet of the Apes'.

Idk but I can’t help consider it possible that the ‘nice’ looking human that shot Caesar may have done it because perhaps he thought Caesar’s actions with the grenades could’ve killed everyone, including himself… the shooter. Edited to add at least one piece of punctuation.

The new trailer looks awesome and Andy Serkis also came out and said he knew what the film was going to be about and he loved it. So I'm super excited for it!

🖤The little girl being given the Chevy Nova car decal is a nod to the original film. The name of the main female character in that movie was named Nova. That is now that little girl's adopted name.

The first one was great. The second was really good but this one is a freaking masterpiece in every way. The story, the acting, the special effects, the emotional impact, everything was superb

One of the helmets at the start said "Bedtime for Bonzo", which is reference to a Ronald Regan movie of the same name which had a chimpanzee (Bonzo) in it.

Some of the names they used in these three films were names of characters in the original movie. I caught three names, there might have been more... Cornelius, Nova, and Bright Eyes.

For many people and families there isn't an expectation for using these titles if a person was an adult when they met. Similarly, children in some cultures refer to their parents peers as aunt or uncle, regardless of kinship.

A similar cultural convention is here in Australia/New Zealand where community elders are referred to as Auntie or Uncle as a sign of respect.

I'll have to watch this later, but I listened to the before and afterthoughts. Caesar is my favorite character, and I mean from anything, anywhere. I love this movie, but my god, that ending. I was a sobbing mess. Seriously, I wanted to crawl into a hole and cry for days. So good, but man, the ending hurt my heart. I know what you guys mean about the forth film. I was really hesitant about it too. But the trailer looks really good. I'm anxious, but also super excited. Can't wait to watch it with you guys and see what we all think. Looking forward to this later, after I adult for a few hours.

Andy Serkis hasn't done motion capture in years (this film was his last in a mo-cap role I believe). He made his name doing that, but he's moved on to live action roles and directing now. I think he's trying to avoid getting pigeonholed (which Hollywood is famous for doing).

So the troops with the Greek letters Alpha and Omega is a reference to Beneath The Planet Of The Apes, the sequel to the original Planet Of The Apes. The letters were the symbols used by a cult of humans who had maintained their intellect and survived underground (hence the beneath part of the title). Personally, I found this new depiction of the cult far more terrifying. Got literal chills when I realized who the troops were when I first saw this film.

The original Planet of the Apes is one of the more groundbreaking and influential Sci-Fi movies ever made. I expect it will never be watched because of its 1960's release. Old movies don't win polls.

I just came up with that one "Simone, if your uncle remarries, that's how you get A(u)nts! " What a great movie, Matt Reeves and these performances did so much more than asked for. Satisfying as hell.

Woody Harrelson's character is definitely reflecting Colonel Kurtz from "Apocalypse Now". I almost expected him to ask Caesar, "Are you an assassin?"

good point it is like apocalypse now. also andy serkis who played golem in lord of the rings is the ape ceasar. check out the behind the scenes videos of him and the other actors walking around as the apes. they are right there along with the non ape actors, its very impressive.

Caesar doesn't always talk. Maurice can talk and he barely does. All or most of the apes can talk. They choose to use sign language.
