Hail to the king, baby.

PIG

Ooh no! lol This will be fun.

Seefah

The blur is back! Hope it's back to stay.

Zero Cochrane

Shop smart, shop S Mart… YA GOT THAT!!!!

Rokkor X

The best of the series. I love it. Groovy.

Kamil Kydlicek

if you want more of the Ash you can watch series Ash vs. Evil Dead

UnSafeStu

Merry Christmas to me. Thank you for watching one of my favourite movies of all time. So much fun. I would recommend watching everything. 2013 Evil Dead never reaches the heights of the original but Jane Levy is fantastic. I really enjoyed Evil Dead Rise. I think it keeps the original spirit and even on its own is a great movie.

JBK405

I'm assuming this wasn't the Screwhead Edition that you watched, and if it wasn't you missed out on the single greatest line in the entire franchise: "Good....bad....I'm the guy with the gun." I sought out the DVD just so I could have that one scene in perpetuity.

Alan Pownall

The 2013 requel is straight horror, it's good but it is brutal and has pretty much zero levity. The TV show is similar to this in tone but with the over the top gore of Evil Dead 2.

Nate Gavin

You guys will love the tv show. Ash returns as an even more lovable a$$hole

Jeff K

Also it’s pretty clear, Bruce Campbell would have fit in perfectly with the Three Stooges (who were obviously a big influence on the slapstick violent comedy in this franchise).

Roberto Abitua

I hope someone got George some water to cool himself down after the movie

UnSafeStu

Oh and of course the TV series just for more Bruce Campbell shenanigans.

UnSafeStu

Of course, I've have she old discussion about which ending everyone prefers too. I'm quite partial to the other ending.

Saddleface

I’m so happy you reacted to this! Ash vs Evil Dead the tv show carries on with the awesome craziness of these films.

TomGas2025

Ash vs Evil Dead is a must see now. But be careful...they did pullnout the brakes completely on this show. NO MERCY!!

Robert Filiziani

Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are involved with this entire series, even the 2013 remake and Evil Dead Rise even though on the surface it might appear they aren't. Without spoiling anything all I have to say is if you guys decide to watch the movies or Ash vs Evil Dead or both which is what I would recommend doing personally lol you will not be disappointed.

Jeff K

Also: there’s a short Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash comic series that New Line tried to adapt into a movie, but I believe Bruce said no because he didn’t think they had the right to impact the canon of those other two franchises (or something along those lines, without spoiling what happens in the comics in case y’all ever decide to check them out). Still a fun series to read though.

Mr TV Eye

You might wanna watch the 2000s movies, but don't expect them to be a continuation of the story or the style of the "original trilogy". The "proper" follow-up - as already mentioned in the comments - would be the Ash VS Evil Dead TV-show. It's fantastic and not only a real follow up to the story, it has all the elements that made the movies so iconic. It's bloody and gory, wacky and silly, even has a clever story, very creative directing, camerawork and FX and some great characters besides Ash. I'm sure you will absolutely love it.

Zectorman

The show is for sure TOTALLY worth watching! Please do it :)

michael clarke

i really liked the first season of ash vs the evil dead. i fell off somewhere during second season. the next raimi id suggest is 'drag me to hell'. of all his movies, that one gets the most praise for actually having some commentary because people have read into it as an allegory for having an eating disorder. you might get a kick out of the remake evil dead. theres a lot of nods to the original. i really just missed the sam raimi charm.

Robert Elliott

“Klaatu barada nikto is a phrase from 1951 sci-fi movie The Earth Stood Still. Loved this movie from the first day of release. As a college student it was almost required, it was incredibly popular. All the amazing dialogue and one liners were used prolifically.LOL

SuPaTiLt

I don't hate the newer evil dead movies, but I also didn't really care for them. I think I was already done with horror movies at that point. On the other hand, the tv show is hilarious! You should definitely check that out

Tinfoilnation

Listen up, you primitive screwheads! The one liners from this are so epic they appear in lots of different media. World of Warcraft wasn't even the first. Basically all the dialog in Duke Nukem. Comic books, TV shows, cartoons, other movies... oh and don't forget: Army of Dark Chocolate candy (google it for the cover art alone) Oh and Jonathan mis-reading the text of the magic book in The Mummy to accidentally summon undead minions was no accident. If you've ever played Skyrim - compare the entire opening of that game against the opening of this movie... complete with someone trying to escape and getting shot with an arrow in the back for their efforts. tl;dr - Hail to the King, baby!

Elliot

DO THE TV SHOW YES

thesharkfromjaws3d

Anyone else feel like Drag Me to Hell belongs somewhere in an Evil Dead Retrospective? Highly recommend squeezing that in!

Wrencher86

For more ridiculous Bruce Campbell, I can't recommend Bubba Ho-Tep enough. It's got sort of the same absurdist vibe as this but is much smaller scale.

sarCC

It was a rights issue and the idea of the movie was kicked around well before the comic was ever made. They actually made the comic after it looked like the movie version would never happen.

Zero Cochrane

A really good Sam Rami anti-hero movie is Dark Man. It was done before this one and has the same style in a more serious tone.

Happy Hanukkah

In these sadly cynical times, I am grateful for this heartwarming Christmas movie. :-)

Morningstar

Please do a reaction of life of pi 😊

Jordan Torres

DEFINITELY keep watching the Evil Dead movies. They are separate stories from each other, but they are very very good movies in their own right and are worth the watch!

Trevor Rotan

“You’re a goodie TWO SHOES!”

Happy Hanukkah

9:31 I'm having a very frustrating deja-vu. Anyone care to help me out?

Jeb Manning

This one is so much fun. It's my favorite Evil Dead movie. Just working with what they got and making it a wild, fun, and funny ride.

Happy Hanukkah

It is a gross injustice that Bruce Campbell did not win an Oscar for this. By the way, it's funny that you were going on about the Arthurian legends, given Bruce Campbell played the title role in the 2004 King Arthur. :-P

Rob Church

Def gotta watch Evil Dead 2013. I personally love it, it's pretty hardcore.

Happy Hanukkah

9:40 Oh so reminiscent of Bacall and Bogart. :-P

sarCC

Just to let you know, it was originally titled "Medieval Dead"

JoeNotCharles

Ok, people keep saying you should watch more old movies, and now I know which: 1963's Jason and the Argonauts! A lot of this movie was a homage to the amazing stop-motion in that. And I think you two in particular would really enjoy a pre-D&D fantasy movie. I was lucky enough to see a screening of it at the Fantasia Festival many years ago, when they gave Ray Harryhausen a lifetime achievement award for SFX.

REDR58

Definitely that and “The Golden Voyage of Sinbad” (1973) and “Clash of the Titans” (1981).

Stewart MacInnes

"I don't think any of this makes any sense" - George gets it.

Kron0n

The movies after this are both full on horrors. No comedy. I like them both for different reasons.

HeyHeyJK

Now that you've watch "2001:ASO", and now that you know the phrase Klaatu Barada Nicto, you really should go back even further in the list of greatest sci-fi films and watch "The Day the Earth Stood Still", even if you don't shoot a reaction for it. Great film, but don't watch the bad remake with Keanu Reeves.

JustALilTired

I love this movie, so campy and self aware…and yes, Bruce Campbell has that classic leading man look and plays Ash so well 😍

E.P.B.F.

The TV show is the best continuation by a mile.

Hondo the Cat

I've heard the series is great. I've been meaning to watch it for ages.

Stephen

The TV is exceptional. It is so so so worth it and right in your wheelhouse. You'll love it.

Hondo the Cat

Cheers. I'll probably have a little time to watch something over Christmas so will give it a go.

Jesus F Christ

Thumbnail: "Free the (hairy) nipple!"

Crystal

aww, I forget how young you guys are, and how long she's been outta the biz, but the recast "Linda" is Bridget Fonda, daughter of Peter Fonda, niece of Jane Fonda & a 90s actress in her own right. She retired to raise her kids with Danny Elfman. Yes, THAT Danny Elfman! too bad they didn't have him do the soundtrack!

Dwight Scarn

I highly reccomend watching the TV show Ash vs Evil Dead. Ash is hilarious and he has 2 great sidekicks. It's a good mixture of all 3 movies in the show. It's also pretty gory fyi. But lots of fun!

Old School Drew

Bruce Campbell actually learned a ride a horse on a TV show he did called The adventures of brisco county Jr it only ran one season but it was a hell of a lot of fun
