Jay Davis

I take back what I said earlier. THIS... is my favorite Christmas movie!

JayF

React smart! React S-Mart!

NICKWEAKASS

Really hope you react to the 2013 evil dead and rises

JayF

I haven't mentioned Grosse Pointe Blank in a while for a reaction. So there it is.

JediLounger

"I don't know what Darkman is." This must be rectified immediately. Darkman (1990) is a pulp comic-like classic. I word it like that as it's not based on a existing property, but Sam Raimi created the character when he could not get the rights to Batman or The Shadow (which also got a hilarious adaptation in 1994 with Alec Baldwin). The sequels are not great, I would only watch the first one. They are watching the theatrical cut. I would check out the extended cuts later to see the extra battle footage and the other ending. No need to do a reaction or anything, but it is worth seeing.

Amos T Fairchild

Which version/ending of the film I wonder? Maybe I'll just watch the YouTube version this time. Lol.

Haye Zeus

Darkman was his most recent hit and since the Evil Dead movies were still fairly known only to the horror fans back then, a general audience wouldn’t have been as aware of them. But I’d recommend Darkman for some pulpy over the top fun.

Luca Kelly

There has yet to be another movie that has just the perfect amount of cheese that dark man has (in a brilliant way obviously)

RLYtoxic

I hope they watch Ash vs Evil Dead, such a great show.

Odd Thomas

Darkman is great. Drag Me To Hell is too.

DeAndrew Greene

I think Darkman had just come out a couple years before and it was his version of Batman kind of. It stars Liam Neeson and Frances McDormand and it's pretty cool. Evil Dead 2 had been out 7 years already so that's why they mentioned Darkman instead.

Daniel Popp

I absolutely love this film, grew up watching it on a regular basis. Simones reaction to its poster cracked me up 🤣. I have an original print of the poster, signed by Bruce Campbell.

Johnny Liu

Possibly one of the best follow up videos to 2001 you could have chosen... groovey Also fun fact: the original title for this film was "The Medieval Dead"

Astraeos

Oh. Well then. This is my BOOMSTICK

Young Blood Priest

This movie is ridiculous 😂. I had a great time. The stop motion skeletons reminded me of when I saw The 7th Voyage of Sinbad on tv as a kid.

Odd Thomas

I love that Embeth Davidtz made this and Schindler's List in the same year

Alexrandom

In my opinion the TV show isn't worth the time and pales in comparison to the trilogy. The recent films have interesting things in them and might be worth a reaction but don't expect anything close to the trilogy either. They're only like two hours though, so even if you don't like them it's not that much of a waste of time. Great reaction as always ! :)

Tim Pierce

There's an alternate ending where Ash is given a sleeping potion that allows him to wake back in his own time. He's told to take only six drops, but you know Ash, he screws it up and ends up awakening too late, into an apocalyptic world.

Logan Kerlee

I am stoked as hell to watch this! :) Thank you so much for doing this one.

Michael Robayo

Please watch Ash Vs Evil Dead, it's a continuation with Sam Raimi directing the pilot.

King_Panarisi

Please continue the Scream franchise too, and not just for Halloween.

sarCC

Woohoo!

Vwlss Nvwls

Bobida Boopee!! Classic!! I remember seeing the teaser trailer for this in the theater, and I nearly jumped out of my seat saying "YES!!" as soon as the first couple seconds were on screen. I of course saw the movie in the theater, and I have watched it several dozen times since. It has a dark, but interesting alternate ending.

Michael Green

You're unlikely to get to it any time soon, and I doubt it would be a YouTube viewership bonanza, but I'd recommend Bubba Ho-tep for a good dose of Bruce Campbell b-movie silliness; it's ridiculous but has some real heart to it.

Vwlss Nvwls

The phrase he has to say in the graveyard is a reference to the old sci-fi "The Day The Earth Stood Still" The guy Ash is telling his story to at the end is Ted Raimi, Sam Raimi's brother, and if you pay attention he is in almost everything that Sam Raimi does.

Logan Kerlee

This is NOT a horror movie! It is a comedy with horror elements. I watched this as a very young boy and loved the experience. :) lmao!! "They look like tiny versions of himself.. but they have hands." You wouldn't get that from any other movie! I'm legit cracking up over here after hearing that in the opening bit. This movie's so much fun, guys! I always have a great time watching this! The recap is brilliant! like I said before, I never watched the original film before I watched your reaction to it! There is no end to fun in this, George! Breakfast Club was for sure used in reference here! lmao, YUP! This is where Boomstick originates! I could've sworn I said that when ya'll reacted to the first movie. "GROOVY!" This is why I pushed for this movie back then. :) I learned how to ride horses as a young boy! I rode them all the time during my early years. :D That's awesome George! It's one of my favorite reasons to watch older movires like this, especially if it's one that I've seen already. Love the reminders of where things originated! THESE LITTLE FUCKERS!! xD hahahahaha, Bruce Cambell is the fucking best guy for this role! I can't think of another actor that would've done this half as well! He's just pure comedy and it's a joy to watch him work. :) LOVE those special effects! You can hopefully now see why this was a childhood fave for me. lmao, the books are insanely funny! KLATU VERATA NICTO! I love how obvious it is that Bruce Cambell was having a great time filming this! Always puts a smile on my face. <3 lmao, I heard that George! Disappointed with the lack of nip slip? xD Fellowship of Ash, indeed! This battle bit is Helms Deep, more or less. Obviously ages before the film versions of Lord of the Rings but both the books and animated versions were made before this. :) Helms Deep inspired many films! hahahaha, I'm glad your friends have good taste George! xD Explosive arrows, indeed! This is where Diablo got it's inspiration from. :) lmao - we don't ask question Simone. She's undhead so she has some special alimbing? I don't know. Good explanation on the chainsaw, Simone! I'm SO happy that you both enjoyed this so much. Great comparison George, this was 3 Stooges level comedy, 100%! If Bruce Cambell didn't have his voice it wouldn't work nearly as well!lmao, won't lie I'm disappointed to not hear the "Hail to the king, baby!" from Simone. This is where the series ends as far as I'm concerned. The next movies are horror flicks for sure. I'd be down for a watchalong of the tv show. It isn't amazing but he is in it and it's made by the Raimi Brothers so it's worth seeing! :) Again, just want to say how happy I am that you both reacted to this movie! :) It was a great start to my day! :D

Logan Kerlee

I haven't checked the show out at all, but I'm with you on the sequels to this being not amazing watches.

Vwlss Nvwls

I do not think the two reboot movies are worth watching, but that is just me. And if you want a Bruce Campbell cameo in the first reboot movie, then you have to watch all the way to the end of the credits. The series is so very much worth watching though, and is sadly too short.

AstralCars

Please react to Darkman! Really underrated Sam Raimi movie and it’s fun and zany. It doesn’t have Bruce Campbell but it does have Liam Neeson doing the Bruce Campbell role.

Monica Alarcon

Yes please on the newest movies and the TV show...

JayF

However you can watch it free on YT. There are ads but if you have a blocker they don't interrupt.

ben yosi

please react to the tv show ash vs. evil with bruce campbell, its great

REDR58

Linda is played every so briefly this time by Bridget Fonda who was very busy in her career throughout the late 1980s and through the 1990s. Speaking of Bridget Fonda as I am wont to do, go check out Single White Female and Singles, both from 1992. One is a thriller and the other is a romantic comedy with lots of grunge music. She was also in Jackie Brown.

Dazzler & Em

Highly highly recommend the tv show and next two films. The show is a continuation of ash's story and in a similar vein to some of the previous films. it did get slightly weaker in the final season. The two new films are out and out horror but both are top tier and do tie in to the original( explained in evil dead rises). Also likely that there will be another sequel in the next few years. to support some of the other comments as well, it is worth watching Scream 2 and 3(loose trilogy). Are you planning on watching book of bobba and mando season 3? really glad that you have enjoyed the films and as usual your reactions are great!!!

Tenn Seven

Oh, you guys have to watch the Ash Vs. Evil Dead show now. If you liked this movie you'll love the show; Raimi and company really dialed in the perfect mix of horror and camp with it, and the supporting cast is just fantastic. Also, Bruce Campbell is a really great guy IRL. I got to meet him and talk to him a bit at a book signing for his autobiography, "If Chins Could Kill, Confessions Of a B Movie Actor" (a great book), and he was just really down to Earth and super nice.

WastedPo

I'd definitely enjoy a reaction to the TV show. (As far as the reboot movies, while they're good horror movies, they don't really have the same spirit as the original movies. For me, Ash/Bruce Campbell is what made the Evil Dead franchise, as much as any lore regarding the evil. And without him, it's just not the same.)

Chase Lonnergan

A semi-fun note to something George said: I had neither seen nor even heard of Evil Dead 1&2 when I first saw Army of Darkness. I rented it from the video store based entirely on the cover and the fact that it was made by the people who made Darkman (which was one of my favorite movies). As for the line about being a Chinese jet pilot... Well... It's 100% something he isn't. So it fits. Nothing more than that. I am, however, disappointed that it was never pointed out that this is easily the single greatest TableTop RPG/DND one-shot adventure ever put on film.

schnoobs

been waiting for this one. i hope u guys continue with the more recent movies or maybe even the series that sadly got cancelled but still a really really good watch

sarCC

I'm fond of Fonda. She also starred in the little-seen, but excellent Sam Raimi crime thriller, A Simple Plan, co-starring Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thorton.

Loac Iscarior

Now that you watched the OG trilogy, you kinda have to watch Ash vs. Evil Dead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But yeah the show is really fun, Bruce Campbell returns as an aged Ash. But beware, it is extremely gory.

REDR58

“I Live Again” is also referenced in the 1997 video game Blood and other stuff from this movies shows up in 1996’s Duke Nukem 3D if I remember right.

Tyler Foster

Army of Darkness is a fine title and of course at this point I'm used to it, but The Medieval Dead is such a great title.

Tyler Foster

Going to second everyone in the comments who recommended Darkman. I will also mention (again, I think it's come up before) Sam Raimi's 1995 Western, The Quick and the Dead, which stars Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe, and a young Leonardo DiCaprio, just a couple of years before he became globally famous for Titanic. I will also also recommend (I've definitely mentioned this lots of times!) The Hudsucker Proxy, the Coen Brothers movie that was co-written by Sam Raimi, and which is a New Year's movie. Probably. too short notice to squeeze it into the schedule, but...

simon brouillard

I actually saw it in theatres and had no idea it was the third in a trilogy and I’m pretty sure it was the same for a majority of people. And you said it George, Sam Raimi is a huge three stooges fan so😏 also There will be blood

Hernani

I highly recommend the two new ones, they're pretty great.

Hi I'm George Junior, but my friends call me Geo-Ju

🖤I used to ride horses a lot when I was a kid. Pretty sure it's like riding a bike. Maybe one day I'll find out the hard way. But I didn't learn from working at S-Mart. I know that's the popular stereotype.

Hi I'm George Junior, but my friends call me Geo-Ju

🖤The two newer Evil Dead movies are connected to all the Raimi Evil Dead stuff. The two newer ones are meant to be more reboots for the franchise, but I see them labeled as remakes. Whatever people label them as isn't a huge deal I suppose. They may as well be remakes as they don't lean on the older movies or TV show and can easily stand on their own if you only see the two newer ones, but I think its funner to know they connect.

Prof. Writhms

The 2 new movies are very good but say goodbye to the silly comedy. They are SERIOUS horror and very well done, keeping the tradition of practical effects. Besides, if you don't complete all the the movies and the TV series, you will bring forth an evil curse on yourselves. So...

Shane Driscoll

Skip the 2013 remake. Rises is pretty good, though.

Chase Schleich

Definitely worth watching the newer Evil Dead films, especially the latest one. By by goofy, hello bloody horror. There's also the Ash vs The Evil Dead tv series. I've only seen the first season, but it was pretty good.

Chase Schleich

Simone doesn't know what Darkman is?! WTF are we not watching Darkman right now?! Darkman rules! Liam Neeson and Sam Rami.

Jordan9663

Recommend reign of fire (2002)

E. D.

The director´s cut is 1:36:24 long. It´s on YT for free. I found another 1:28:51 (dubbed version). Can´t find the one G&S are watching which is a bit annoying^^.

Ludovic Ligot

Check the ending of the director's cut. It's totally different but hilarious (in a dark way) !

E. D.

I wonder why the "sex" scene is not in the version G&S are watching; I guess the 1:20 version is the original (american) theatrical which is presumably more prudish; but it´s stil funny bc the sex scene is like maybe 45 sec. long and it´s harmless.

E. D.

Is the 2013 movie more brutal than the newest one? An YT movie reacter wrote in the YT video title literally that it traumatized him to his core^^ -- I´ve seen him reacting to the newest one and he survived that experience^^

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

One of the things that cracks me up about this movie is that it's supposed to be set in medieval England but it's so obviously California lol You guys gotta watch Ash Vs Evil Dead, I love that show even more than the movies, some great new characters in that. It's total comedy and over the top gore. Only thing is it was cancelled too soon, so the last season is a little rushed. Also, Ash's S-Mart coworker at the end is Sam Raimi's brother Ted. He's in a lot of Sam's work, including Xena, Darkman, and Ash Vs Evil Dead.

Jacob King

I’m a vote for the TV show which is a clear sequel to Army of Darkness while having a darker tone. I love all the Ray Harryhausen and Looney Tunes stuff in this movie but I still prefer the horror in the first two. The problem for me is the lack of stakes. Still good though.

Jacob King

Grosse Point Blank is one of those movies that everyone who’s seen it loves. There isn’t a single bad thing about it. Yet, people who haven’t seen it are always skeptical.

TheSentry77

I know I'm too late but I would love it if you guys could react to Violent Night, starring David Harbour, for the holidays! Thanks for being so awesome!

Thomas Wendel

BOOMSTICK started here. It brought back groovy! Back in early the early 90s, this was the most quoted movie at the time. "Klaatu Baarda Nikto" is from the 1951 movie The Day the Earth Stood Still, another classic but well known to us at the time. Another in joke.

George Amberson

Just to echo what a few others have said, Ash Vs. Evil Dead would be a really fun watch and is a great continuation of the first three movies. My opinion on the two newer films in the franchise is that they’re both pretty great. Both play as straight horror; Evil Dead Rise is less ugly and dirty than Evil Dead, but just as mean and more…joyously evil, I’d call it. I laughed more while watching EDR. Loved watching this one with you guys!

zak

I don't even understand how you found a version of this film that's so short! Still a great film though.

Patrick

I love movies, but I can honestly say I've literally never even heard of this movie before.

Jay Robert

I caught your Tom Waits reference, Simone!

Philipp Roensch

Oh that explains the desynch, you got the theatical cut here, the director's cut has a few minutes more gore, sex and alternate ending. Hilarious anyways! I would vote for the TV show as well, Bruce and the campiness are the best aspect.

Terdell Ferguson

Thanks George and Simone for viewing this one! I have to admit, I did see the earlier Evil Dead films, but never really recognized Bruce Campbell until this film (one of my Top 100 - for multiple reasons), and the later TV SERIES - THE ADVENTURES OF BRISCOE COUNTY JR., where he plays a bounty hunter. This series literally only lasted one season (1993-1994 - playing just before the first season of the great X-FILES series). The Briscoe County series is really fun and campy as all Bruce Campbell entries are, and usually can only be found on DVD. IF you have any inkling, please consider BRISCOE COUNTY JR. as a series (definitely a throwback, of course) as a series to view. SO much fun and really a good look into a different Bruce Campbell.

TheSentry77

Loved the reaction guys! Bruce is an absolute legend! Had the chance to see him a few times at Fan Expo in Toronto giving Q&As, and he is a true entertainer. The man clearly loves what he does, and it shows. As far as the rest of the franchise goes, the 2013 remake and Evil Dead Rise, while going back to serious horror tone, are both worth watching, especially the 2013 remake. However, above all else, whenever you're done with some of your ongoing TV series, I STRONGLY recommend watching Ash VS Evil Dead. It was an absolute banger of a show, with Bruce returning, along with an amazing cast.

WastedPo

I would love a reaction to Brisco County. Unfortunately, at its peak, it only ever garnered a cult following, and even that seems to have dwindled in recent years. I don't even think it's available on any streaming services these days.

Thomas Yanez

You can watch the new movies, sure, and I'd watch the reactions, but if you want more of the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness experience, the TV show is where you want to go next. If you enjoyed the original trilogy, and the direction that Army of Darkness took it, then you'll enjoy the series.

LeperMessiah117

Occasional I wake up with the thought on my mind, "when will two Canadians watch Ash vs Evil Dead?" Then, I go about my day.

David Lonewolf Wright

You guys should watch Bubba Ho-Tep, where Bruce Campbell plays an aging Elvis who teams up with JFK to fight a mummy in a retirement home.
