It’s 5am… as a night owl this is usually my bedtime, right before the sun comes up. I already cleaned my bong and put it away to dry, I put the leftover snacks away from the other 3 movies I watched… looks like I’m staying up past sunrise today.

djKENTO

also HACK THE PLANET!

sarCC

Well...Ocean's 13 and Ocean's 8 are pretty good?

JediLounger

“What’s Miller’s Crossing?” Oh boy. Coen Brother’s movie from 1990 about the Prohibition era. You guys have also not seen The Untouchables (1987) yet, those movies would pair together well.

beefjerkywizard

I guess I'm definitely in the minority but I enjoy this one as much the first. When I watched it in the theatre, the two friends I was with enjoyed it as much as did but most people dislike it. To each their own.

Warwick Stinson

The "sexy" bits of cat and mouse/banter in this always remind me of my favourite Soderbergh joint, Out of Sight :)

Patrick

I was actually surprised by the poor ratings because I always liked this movie, and it's on TV quite a bit.

Josip Buretić

I also like this one just like the first one and I don't really know why so many people dislike this movie 🤷🏻‍♀️

David Martin

Cherry Jones is in far too few movies. "Think about it... Linus. For a moment there I was already forgetting your name."

beefjerkywizard

So by my math, we need 9 others and we got ourselves out own Ocean's 12 crew. Let's get our heist on 😎

Brad Lowry

I say this with a big joyful smile: We must correct Simone's misconception that the only thing that Elliot Gould did before Ocean's Eleven was appear as Monica Geller's father in Friends! - Best Actor Oscar Nominee for "Bob & Ted & Carol & Alice" - Golden Globe Best Comedy Performance Nominee for lead in the original _movie_ version of "M*A*S*H" - played Phillip Marlow in Robert Altman's modern (1973) take on Film Noir in "The Long Goodbye" (FYI, I believe that that film included Arnold Schwarzenegger's first, if uncredited, movie role) He seemed to be the kind of actor that didn't care if he was the leading man, he just cared if he was acting in interesting roles such as Monica Geller's dad or a Las Vegas casino owner or...

Paul mix

Agreed! I'd love to see reactions to both of these. Is there a better way to suggest movies than mentioning them in comments like this?

Chris B

I love this one too. I do understand that the heist aspect is way worse than the first one. If that's what you focus on, yeah, it's not that good. But for me Oceans is the chemistry, the banter between characters, the "oldies" atmosphere, and all that is great in this one.

WayneC

A laser avoiding scene that George will probably enjoy is in the movie "Entrapment" with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery.

Ginger

I remember watching this in the theater and the whole Julia Roberts / Bruce Willis scene was the funniest thing ever. So good 😁❤️

NareikAC

i like how george is wearing the same top from Oceans eleven reaction

E. D.

Train to Busan pweeese :3

Odd Thomas

Such a disappointing sequel in every way. 13 is a mild improvement but none match the first film. 8 gets by on pure charm; the plot is pure bunkem.

Odd Thomas

Please watch Sunshine (2007)

Dr Ozzy

If you remember when Matt Damon meets George Clooney in the first movie he asks him if he knew who is father was and that's why he was offering him the job. It was implied that his dad was a known thief and he didn't want to be a nepo baby thief.

akaTheBARON Tokyo Drift

🖤The upside to watching Ocean's Twelve is hopefully it means you'll go ahead and watch Ocean's 13. Ocean's 13 wasn't a bad sequel at all. Sort of went back to what people liked about Ocean's Eleven. So if you liked Eleven you'll like Thirteen, I encourage you to watch it. It's fun. But I'll give this one a rewatch since you two did a reaction, maybe I'll like it better than I did the first time around. I just remember from the one time I've seen it, it just seemed to veer so far away from what I liked from the first one. The sequel for me was what I'd imagine a third movie in a trilogy to be (as they're usually the weakest), and the third movie (Ocean's 13) is what I'd imagine the second movie to be, it's weird XD.

Mitchell Bowker

I like the moment when George said there isn't enough Julia Roberts in this movie... cut to later: Julia Roberts playing Tess, pretending to be Julia Roberts on a phone call with the voice of Julia Roberts playing herself.

Superpotroast

I always liked this one as well, I like Ocean's 11 the best..And Ocean's 13 is fine too.. I think people just wanted another casino heist movie and not a competition between two thieves..Which is why 13 is back in Vegas.. We recorded it once it came on tv and then used to put the laser scene on repeat cause we liked the music..

Onno Smits

I agree with George that this one is a lot of fun, but a bit too convoluted for its own good. I don't like that the twist is more on the audience than on the "mark". I hope this one didn't deter you from Ocean's 13 because I think it's a big step up from 12 again, to be honest. 8 is good too, though a whole lot different and not really connected. I also want to once again recommend Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), as all the parts of this movie that you guys were vibing on are similar vibes in that movie (even though everything else, including the genre, is very different).

Jacob King

Haven’t watched the react yet but my first thought on seeing it pop up was, oh good - they’ll watch Ocean’s 13, totally agree on Mr and Mrs Smith.

Jacob King

I’m a fan of all of them just because heists are my comfort genre but you’re correct on your rank order. Logan Lucky and Out of Sight top my Soderbergh heist list.

Jacob King

The real Bobby Caldwell passed away last year. A legendary singer songwriter who never really achieved mainstream fame. Definitionally a guy who if you know you know and if you don’t know you aren’t really hip to the scene.

Poddington

I watched this film yesterday and all I kept thinking when Catherine Zeta Jones was on screen was how George would react. Too predictable George, but you were quite restraint lol

akaTheBARON Tokyo Drift

🖤OK having finished watching, I like this one SLIGHTLY better than when I did the first time. Still the black sheep of the trilogy. But it was funnier than I remember. But messy for sure. I think you two will like Ocean's Thirteen if you get to it.

Poddington

When Linus says to Bruce Willis that the little statue starts to smile at you after a while or something to that effect and Bruce says "no, i don't". Both Matt Damon and Julia Roberts had Oscars, but Bruce does not. This film had a lot of little digs and jokes at the actors themselves like guessing George Clooneys age, how insecure actors are, how Julia Robert presents herself, how Bruce flirts with every pretty girl. Marcy Engelman is actually Julias real Publicist. The line about Julia going to a meeting for "Clowns Can't Sleep" is real. "Clowns Can't Sleep" was the working title for Oceans 12 :) Bruce Willis was also the first pick for Danny Ocean, but wasn't able to do the part due to scheduling Conflicts. Oceans 11 came out in 2001 so would have been in production a year or so before. The films that came out around that time would have been Unbreakable (2000) or Bandits (2001). I would guess that the use of the Sixth Sense in Oceans 12 was due to how many people claimed they got the twist before it was revealed, but it is interesting that Bruce Willis did another M.Night film around the same time. Oceans 13 has a lot of Godfather references. You'll see why.

Lars G

Linus' parents are thieves. His dad was mentioned as being a big deal in the first one, which is how he was recommended to Danny. His mom being introduced in this movie is definitely just playing up the goofiness. I think all these movies are great (compared to other heist movies) because they lean into the silliness. Sure the heists are clever, but I think we mostly enjoy it because it's a bunch hugely charismatic actors playing off each other. I get why a lot of people didn't enjoy this one as much as the others, but I love this one for how deep it plays into it. I love the European setting more then Vegas and I never really cared if the heists actually made any sense, I just love this one for the vibes. Plus I've had a crush on Catherine Zeta-Jones ever since I saw her in The Mask of Zorro.

Sean Barbante

I'm with you all in really liking this movie. As I said in the poll this was on, I really enjoy the music most in Ocean's 12. I just love blasting "7/29/04 The Day Of" in the car.

Tay Schumaker

I know people have different thoughts on it, but the Julia Roberts thing was one of the dumbest things I've seen in a movie and completely took me out of the movie

Foodassassin4life

I also would like you to watch Wind River. It's stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen. It's a great but sad movie with some good action

Skyruff

I heard Julia Roberts suggested Catherine Zeta-Jones sense they worked together in "American Sweethearts" which i highly recommend watching.

REDR58

1978’s “The First Great Train Robbery” (“The Great Train Robbery” in the US) directed by Michael Crichton is based on his book of the same name from 1975 and that is a historical novel (some names and details are changed) based on the real life “Great Gold Robbery” that occurred in 1855 in the UK. Fun heist movie with Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland. Check it out.

Ricardo Alanis

I appreciate this more in repeated viewings but my ranking is still: 11 13 12 I look forward to your reaction to 13. I also recommend Rounders and High Fidelity for performances/actors/themes.

Foodassassin4life

They did it really early at the start of their channel but it and alot of other content got copyright struck and before that George's computer fucked up and they lost all the back-ups to a lot of reactions

REDR58

“The Player” is an excellent movie about the movies and is a lot of fun.

Jesse Coombs

The Player is totally worth watching. One of the best satires about Hollywood in the early 90's. It's directed by Robert Altman, who is a legend, and is a very good entry into his films.

Jesse Coombs

Oh, and "Miller's Crossing" is the Coen Brother's period piece gangster movie, and it's a masterpiece.

Steve kephart

If you guys are looking for a new TV series to watch, you should check out BBC's Sherlock. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Each season has only 3 episodes (except season 4), but those episodes are an hour and a half long and represent a case. I believe the only reason why they stopped making it is because the two actors got so busy making movies. It was shown on PBS here in the states and was massively popular.

Foodassassin4life

The reason Bernie Mac was barely in this one was because he was already suffering health problems and couldn't really be in the movie but still showed up cuz you can't have oceans 11 without him in it

Bennett Holleman

You guys really need to watch Miller's Crossing because it's Coen Brothers with Albert Finney in a fantastic performance.

james repka

When you asked about Julia Roberts and Bruce Willis being in a film together, The Player was the very first thing that popped into my head. One of the greats but Robert Altman. Put The Player on your list right now (right above Miller's Crossing).

Steve kephart

If you want a similar feel movie, you should check out Matchstick Men. It is one of Nick Cage's best films and is directed by Ridley Scott. It is a great example of smart people doing things competently as George likes. It probably won't win any polls as it is so unknown. But it is a true hidden gem that you guys will love.

Keerit Thind

Ocean's 13 is vastly underrated. I enjoyed it the most of the three.

Jacob King

Oceans 12 does improve with each viewing. It’s a matter of familiarity, rather than being surprised by the twists and the reveals you can enjoy the jokes. Some recommendations based on actors in this movie: Miller’s Crossing with Albert Finney, obviously, but it’s a masterpiece. The Pelican Brief with a young Julia Roberts, not to mention peak Denzel. The Long Goodbye with Eliot Gould, same director as The Player, same writer as the Empire Strikes Back, it’s the 70s The Big Lebowski. Brotherhood of The Wolf with Vincent Cassel, probably the best French martial arts based werewolf movie ever made. Game Night with the fake faberge egg. Truly hilarious.

Tyler Foster

I haven't actually been able to watch this yet (tonight after work!), but given the tenor of the comments I feel obliged to say I think this is the best of the three, and by a decent margin. An utterly delightful riff on Soderbergh's own masterpiece Out of Sight (1998) with the cop-criminal romance (he even borrowed his own freeze frames), and it's built around a cleverly subversive heist. I see some people saying that George found it convoluted, but IMO, it probably only seems complicated on first watch. I also love critic Matt Singer's brilliant read that this is a great sequel about how hard it is to make a great sequel. I don't think Patreon likes hyperlinks much (you can Google "Matt Singer Ocean's Twelve" if you want to read the piece, which is still up even though the version of the site it's on is all messed up), but the gist is: Benedict is the studio, reuniting the gang and saying, "You made a ton of money. Make the same amount, and then some, by doing the same thing." The crew tries, but quickly conclude that "we're forcing it." The Night Fox represents the audience: trying his best to be one step ahead of them the whole way, making their job harder. The Julia Roberts sequence represents a celebrity cameo to spice things up (and Matt didn't mention that the movie does this both literally and figuratively, what with Bruce Willis being the movie's actual surprise cameo). The first movie is really good, I think the third one's a breezy victory lap, and Ocean's 8 is enjoyable as well (not to mention the original movie from 1960, with Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack, which has an all-timer ending), but people really underrate this one.

Tyler Foster

Just commented at the bottom of this post about how I think this is the best one.

Tyler Foster

Soderbergh even stole his own freeze frames from that movie! I think he knew what he was doing.

Tyler Foster

Hey, now. I think Simone will also enjoy that scene, even if she tells George to calm down.

Tyler Foster

I also love that everyone is recommending Miller's Crossing (1990) in the comments. Gets overshadowed by the big titles in the Coens' filmography, but another masterpiece.

Tyler Foster

I'd definitely suggest Nope. I'm sure they'd like Paul too, but that one's just OK, IMO.

Mike Miner

I never even gave it a thought that they didn't know about this scene, given that it's become so well known in pop culture. Maybe just something George will want to Google on his own... ahem... private time :)

Efrain Zavala

could you all please do Payback (1999)? Thanks

Khan1001

Great Reaction as always, this one was better then I remember, I think because the first one was so great this one got harsher reviews when it first came out, its not a bad movie, but it is a step down from the first one. Please watch Oceans 13 soon, its a lot better, not quite as good as the first one but very entertaining and Al Pacino is great as always, speaking of Pacino, you should watch Scent Of A Woman (1992) Pacino finally got his Oscar for this one after being snubbed for so many years by the Academy.

Scott McClintock

Definitely a movie that doesn’t demand multiple viewings, but does benefit from them. Lots of blink and you’ll miss them moments. Lots of “potential” clues sprinkled in that can open the door for interesting concepts.. Simple: Was that really a decoy egg that Linus was practicing with? Less-simple: Was this really “Ocean’s Twelve” or was it actually “LeMarc’s Fourteen“ from the very start? (It plays either way, but what is actually implied by the line “I’m still getting the better of you,” once you are caught up with the information Rusty already knew?) Recommendations: Out of Sight (Soderberg, 1998) The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (Ritchie, 2015) Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang (Black, 2005)

Gunnar Rea

Just hoping and praying that we'll get 13 within a full year..

Alex Ch

Enjoying these sequel reactions lately. If you’re not burned out on them, Gremlins 2 is funny.

Brad Lowry

Thanks for the recommendation, I've just flagged all my services to alert me when it's free.
