Jay Davis

I'll be watching this right meow.

Odd Thomas

This won a poll? Sigh.

beefjerkywizard

This and Ocean's Twelve. The Cinebinge goddesses are smiling down on me

Astraeos

I did nothing for New Years. Saw some family and cooked myself good food at least. Nothing else though. Also 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes sounds terrible. IDK how anybody can binge drink anymore

Grandalf

To answer your pre-show question on U.S. law enforcement: Cities/towns that are large enough have their own police department. Counties have a Sherrif's department (and their elected Sherrif. On True Detective, you might have heard the county referred to as a "Parrish" in the South). Finally, states have their State Police, often referred to as the Highway Patrol. Part of what makes Super Troopers funny, is the concept that even our tiniest states have their own Staties, regardless of the fact that their department is likely smaller than most of their city PD's. (Police Departments).

Astraeos

Also also, if you guys like this movie enough, I would seriously highly recommend Beerfest, by the same production company and with all the same actors. Its super, super funny.

Ian Forbes

Broken Lizard is a comedy troupe of the main guys in the film. They also have other movies, Beerfest (name gives it away) , Club Dread (a horror comedy also starring Bill Paxton) and Slammin’ Salmon (restaurant comedy also starring Michael Clarke Duncan) … in case you want to react to more of their comedies.

droodly

Not only that, these monsters gave it more votes than Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang. Yes, I'm still salty...

Elder Lyons

droodly, name 1 instance that they didnt do second and even third place in a poll in the week after and ill name you 100 instances where they did. they almost always do that. every poll theres people like you that act like the other 6 of the 7 choices that didnt win will be placed into room 101 forever and never seen by humanity ever again. the reaction to it will probably come out thursday or next sunday, as second places nearly always does. every time. 2 days ago they literally posted the second place of the poll before.

droodly

George... If you really loved us you would sing ABBA for us... SHAME! :(

FischerMax98

Classic movie. Classic reaction. Ya gotta like it.

Patrick

For real, it's literally a memo under every poll posted, in bold letter...people still bitch and complain. They do like 3 movies a week, you're not going to like them all.

Patrick

I haven't seen this movie in ages (or sober), so I hope it holds up haha Simone, I never really like doing power hours/centurions. It was just a race to get bloated. It also always felt like kind of a chore to keep filling up the shot glasses.

Lars G

Simone: "I don't understand why they throw all the signals if he's going to throw it like that. He's just going to walk." The principles of Moneyball really stuck with Simone.

Elder Lyons

right? so not only is the only conclusion to be made is that people like Odd Thomas and droodly are deliberately ignoring it just to complain in an attempt to make others feel bad for liking something they dont, and possibly trying to influence S&G to cater to them specifically, but its also just awful for new people who join in, go to a recent post and see these kind of complains and assume that the channel ignores requests or has some sort of "losers never get watched" system, when in fact they have the opposite. its just awful on every front for everyone.

Grandalf

Also, Jay Chandrasekhar played the cab driver in one of the Jackass movies when they "kidnapped" Danger Ehren dressed as a terrorist. Great, now I need to rent and watch the Jackass movies with you guys! ;)

Tay Schumaker

The people Farva called a chicken fucker were the actors parents The syrup they were chugging in the beginning was also real. They tried iced tea but it didn’t look right so they just used real syrup. Jay Chandrasekhar also has directed a lot of television shows, as well as this. Thanks for coming to my TED talk edit: Oh so you got to all of this in the outro. Please ignore

Dr Ozzy

I definitely used to drink strawberry syrup out of the bottle when I was a kid.

Samuel Bruce

I think they're ready for Beerfest!

Persnickity

Broken Lizard is the comedy troupe of all the main actors. A lot like the cornetto trilogy. They have a few movies and tv shows together. If you liked this movie I HIGHLY recommend the movie Beer Fest. Its their best movie by far IMO.

Daniel Gurney

I would also like to recommend beer fest. It's my favorite broken lizard movie. Great reaction. Thank you.

UNC

Going to recommend Succession again, Brian Cox is amazing in it! Succession/Breaking Bad would be a elite show combination.

Mike Miner

"The snozzberries taste like snozzberries" is a direct reference to the original Willy Wonka. I WISH this movie would have aspired to be a little more clever in examples like that. There are some great bits in this, but also some dry spells where you could see G&S TRYING to laugh. Ugh, courtesy laughs are so painful. But who am I to judge... Dumb and Dumber is one of my favorite comedies... and I understand that comedy is probably the hardest genre to pull off. If it makes you laugh on a Saturday, then the movie has done its job :)

Foodassassin4life

Please watch Beerfest next it has the main cast from this movie

Jay

I think you're reading too much into this. I'm sure Odd Thomas knew it won the poll, just their way of expressing displeasure at that fact. Also, we're allowed to say that we don't like, or even despise certain movies. Go read the thread under the latest poll with Blair Witch. I've never seen so much moaning about a winner, but it does happen every week.

Shonnicus

Alright Super Trooper fans we all know what's next. "What's a ZJ?" "If you have to ask, you can't afford it"

Tenn Seven

I don't think they noticed the St. Anky (Stanky) beer... Also, if you dig this movie, "Club Dread" is a great follow-up. Most of the same actors, totally different parts and story, just as funny. Also, the guy who played Farva plays like the nicest character in it, which is pretty funny.

Max Krause

A few friends and I have an annual tradition of doing a LotR extended marathon on New Year's Day. Since we ran into the problem of starting too late and not finishing because of it, we decided to do a small New Year's Eve party at the marathon location. Just six people playing board games and drinking, very cosy. This was also the first time we added another day to the marathon to watch the making offs and several Tolkien documentaries. It was an awesome nerd-down! :D

Shonnicus

The power of Cinebinge! Super Troopers is trending on my Hulu. I'm to believe it's because of Cinebinge.

REDR58

“Staties”?? Get that New England slang outta here. Seriously though, not every state has a “State Police”! For example, Hawaii has no state police (despite the various incarnations of “Hawaii Five-O”). There are 4 county police departments there. Schools around here (I live in Pennsylvania) can have their own police officers. Texas famously has its Rangers, but the only rangers around here are National or state Park and forest rangers.

Tomas Gaspar

Everybody here is wishing for a diffefebt Movie from them to be watched next...buuuut what about Super Troopers 2?

JLee

Man... this movie was way funnier in highschool. Still fun but, now I'm afraid to ever rewatch Beerfest

akaTheBARON Tokyo Drift

🖤If you two like this movie, you'll like Beerfest even more. I've always liked Super Troopers but I always thought Beerfest was way better. Same guys made both (All the guys who played State Troopers minus Brian Cox) so a lot of the people in this one are in that one as well. It's sort of the Hot Fuzz to Super Trooper's Shaun of the Dead. Shaun of the Dead was great but then the same guys made another movie and it topped it. Hot Fuzz being better than Shaun of the Dead and Beerfest being better than Super Troopers is just my opinion anyway, opinions obviously vary. I love all 4 just to be clear XD. But yeah, consider Beerfest.

akaTheBARON Tokyo Drift

🖤I often respond to people asking me what this or that is with "if you have to ask big man, you can't afford it" just because of Beerfest. Usually the person knows the movie, but even if they don't, I don't really care LOL Or... or... if I'm with a group and they suggest going to get food, going to the movies, or whatever I'll often be like "I got 4 dollahs..." LOL

howtocookazombie (Stan)

Movie suggestion: "The Time Machine" from 2002. Great and well made movie, in my opinion. I would love too watch it with you and see your reaction. 🙂

akaTheBARON Tokyo Drift

🖤Per Simone's fire hose question. You can adjust the pressure and spray pattern via the nozzle, as long as it's an adjustable one and not a smooth bore nozzle. Also depending on what the water source was, you can also adjust the pressure from the source as well if it comes from a pump. I'm sure they washed him off as SOMEWHAT high pressure to be funny tho.

TD

Thank you so much for watching this one!!! I'd love for both of you to react to Beerfest, it's is by the same group and they're in different roles. And then of course there's also Super Troopers 2!

REDR58

The only time I’ve been pulled over in 31 years of driving was when I was heading back to Pennsylvania from Virginia Beach. Some local Virginia PD had set up a speed trap, catching all the out of towners. Yet another reason to stay out of that Godforsaken state.

Diiego

Beerfest and Super Troopers 2 next please! Need more reactions to the Broken Lizard group movies.

Lopaka

A good couple of comedies...Down Periscope and Horrible Bosses!

REDR58

So “Cagney and Lacey” was a TV drama about 2 female police officers that aired in the 1980s. Very popular at the time. (Never mind about Lynda Carter, you caught her in the credits!)

ExtraBigAssTaco

Other noteworthy Broken Lizard movies: Beerfest (pretty funny and entertaining if you enjoyed Super Troopers) and The Slammin' Salmon (pretty ridiculous, but entertaining, plus bonus Michael Clarke Duncan).

Jared Winn

Think this is the first time I’ve noticed Simone’s elvish tattoo. Looks awesome!

Jacob King

Hadn’t seen this before and was skeptical but I enjoyed it a lot. I remember reading an article about the number of different police departments/sheriffs/state and federal agencies in the US. Apparently the FBIs position is there is no official list of all the jurisdictions and who has responsibility for what, so effectively they can’t say how many cops there are and who exactly they all work for.

Rupert Purcat

Awesome, love good shenanigans. I really hope you do the sequel one day. Cheers

Noah Schmidt

From what I know there is contention between different branches. State Troopers technically have jurisdiction across the entire state, but generally handle highways and interstates as well as traffic accidents. City police stay within city limits, and the sheriffs department handles the county in which they reside, generally covering areas not within the city limits. However, sometimes cities will ask for additional assistance from the state, and even without being asked the state does have full power to enforce the law and give tickets/arrest people within the city limits as well. The federal government (such as FBI) generally do not get involved without being asked by the state for assistance.

Astraeos

Seconded. Very little heard of movie. It gets a bit cheesy maybe, but I absolutely love it. Great movie.

mayhem74

Throwing in my 2 cents: I've lived in Arkansas for almost a year now. The state troopers here will put a bumper to you and pit you in a heartbeat in the event of a chase. City police will call them in for this very reason, as often times either they're not allowed to pit the offender, or they have to be given very specific permission to do so. It's usually easier to just call in the staties!

Jeremy S

Great reaction! Now you two need to watch Beerfest, it's by the same group of people!

Grimbane42

Highly recommend Super Troopers 2 (backed it on Kickstarter, or whatever they used to get it made) also Club Dread is fantastic and stars the late great Bill Paxton.

sonny

beerfest sometime?
