Cubonemaker

I can’t believe I’m about to sit and listen for 5 hours….

Tay Schumaker

Holy 5 hours But thanks for the in depth answers. Will probably put this on in the background while playing video games. Appreciate you (I’m guessing with this length) got to so many questions

Jay Davis

It's an entirely different kind of sitting and listening. Altogether. It's an entirely different kind of sitting and listening.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Literally have housework and errands this morning so this will be podcast style for me today haha.

SnabbKassa

I'm going to listen to this as I fall asleep, and I mean that in a good way. You both have good wits and nice voices.

mky

Must have been directed by Martin Scorsese. ;)

Patrick

What in the actual F'!!!? 5 HOURS!? I'm going to have to listen to this in no less than 10 parts.

OldBeardedGuyReacts

Holy Moly!!! I clicked on this thinking "there's no way it's actually 5 hours"...I will never doubt you again

Jeff K

Five hours?!? Holy fucking shit. Ok, fine. You win. I'll sit and listen.

Jeff K

Insert one of those GIFs of people standing and applauding.

Jeff K

Given what big fans of LOTR they are, I am forced to assume this will have a dozen endings, AND is also the extended edition featuring previously deleted scenes.

Mastervodo

5 hours.... 5 hours.... yes, 5 hours.....

Justin James

Cinebinge, but the intro conversation goes on forever...

Monica Alarcon

omg, I think I'll listen to an hour each day so I have more daily content...

Roby Jennings

If you want another lovely Meg Ryan romcom you should definitely check out I.Q. from 1994. She stars opposite Tim Robbins with an absolutely charming Walter Matthau. I think you guys would really enjoy it.

Śéáń

Is this technically a podcast?

Ben

I really hope you guys return to doing the monthly recap videos. In fact I hope you retroactively do the last few that you missed and then continue doing them, they were such a great addition to the channel, I don't know why you stopped.

Hamesque

Any thoughts on doing a future one of these on Twitch or streaming on YouTube?

Jeff K

So I'm watching now and was wondering how this was 5 hours and, holy shit... y'all literally answered EVERY question. That's impressive, and above and beyond!

Wrencher86

Shit, I thought you guys were gonna pick-and-choose and likely ignore my somewhat critical question. But thanks for the answer! I also have a brain that will zip from one barely tangential thought to the next, so I get it. As for the edit thing: I watch a few other reactors (but you guys are my favorite, NGL) and some of the other edits let the movie... breathe a little more. I do like watching these to get different perspectives on movies I've already seen (I can't remember specifically, but I know you guys have pointed out things in movies I'd missed when I watched them) and also to get a sort of Cliff-notes version of a film. Sometimes the editing kind of breaks the flow a bit. Or seems unnecessarily abrupt (Your X-men reaction: "You should wear your seatbelt" smash cut to crash. There's 5(?) seconds in between the two. Why cut that out?). George does do a good job of not cutting out large chunks, though, which I've seen other channels do. So props for that. Long story/short: Really enjoy the channel. You guys do great. Thanks for the answer. Watch Ravenous(1999). ;-)

Jay

So Simone is a little claustrophobic, but is yet to see a film that makes her feel claustrophobic? Get 'The Descent' on the watchlist ASAP!

Hamesque

Simone really seems to like this You've Got Male movie.

Jeff K

Buried was 1000000% my first thought as well. I'm not claustrophobic but I still haven't watched it because I know it would make me INSANELY claustrophobic.

Emptysea93

Thank you for answering my question.... I want those 100 lamb dumplings now...

Hamesque

Oh also I just saw Georges Medieval Dynasty comment, I just started a new game and my dumb heir is only 5, are you playing on the Game Pass version or the development branch on Steam.

Hamesque

This should really be a live stream, and also who keeps drinking all this wine.

Jonah Bertorelli

I edited my comment on the AMA post with a time stamp, if anyone's scrolling thru to find their question. they were asked in order. it's about half way thru so should give you a ballpark! hope it at least helps someone :)

James MacDonald

Guys, Simone lives in the woods by herself. Is she the Blair Witch?

Hamesque

As a guy, I i did not understand what George meant by pinch and roll

Hamesque

Simone and George should dye each others hair the colour of the other one. Wine.

LighthouseGuy

I put my question in a reply to another comment, so they missed it haha, I guess I wait until next month.

Hamesque

George you say you learned English from comedians, and want to learn Greek. Have you seen Stavros Halkias and also wine.

8bitAquaDon

This has been so fun to watch! Love the concept, hope it continues, impressed that you're both constantly bringing new ideas, bits, types of content to the channel. As always, take care of yourselves and avoid that dreaded burnout. <3

Simon Pegged Me

I’m older than you two. When I grew up and I was developing my relationship to film, streaming, online video services, VHS, DVDs, etc. were not available. I had to go to the theatre to watch first-run films, and because my family wasn’t rich or even middle class, I had to watch them months-deep into their runs, at the drive-in or the $1.00-entry movie theaters. Even so, until I was a teen and working part-time for my own money, seeing a movie at the theatre was rare—and special to me (think John Coffee in The Green Mile). Most of the movies I saw before then were the classics and B-movies television stations showed in the afternoons and Saturday mornings; those movies formed my movie-viewing vocabulary and structured my movie experiences afterwards and today. That movie education meant that I grew up having watched not just the movies my parents watched but also the same movies my friends had watched. So, TLDR, I’m fascinated by the older movies you haven’t seen: it’s interesting to me how someone who’s always had a choice in the movies they consume and the movie references they’ve created. I hope you’ll get to watch some of the classics, like Psycho, The Maltese Falcon, The Searchers, The Shop Around the Corner (You’ve Got Mail was based on it), Midnight Cowboy, Three Days of the Condor, and so on. Also, for the channel, please watch The Contender (2000).

Jeff K

If she's a witch, she's very clearly Glinda the Good Witch. (Really though, it's funny she's a Buffy fan because I've always thought she looks quite a bit like Amber Benson, aka Tara the witch from that series.)

Ethan Holgate

Cool q&a guys had to watch it on speed mode no offence Lol

FranciscoGios

Oh man, they weren’t joking. Almost 300 questions & DMs from Patreons 😳. *Pressing Play*,, with a “🟢 green,🟢 green, 🟢 green” voice over.

Nathan Swapp

Just putting out my vote that I would love a Lord of the Rings extended rewatch. (I definitely have Marvel fatigue and most likely won't watch anything Marvel again.)

Skyruff

I made it, I am one of the three!!! Or is that One of Three… you will be assimila…nope I’m still me.

DCray

Nooo you said my question wrong lol!! It was BABE-raham Lincoln... not Barbraham hahaha I thought y'all would catch the Wayne's World reference!

LighthouseGuy

Btw I would love to see a MCU or LotR rewatch, I would also like to see a reaction of logan after you watch X-men, you have said you have both watched it before but its still a great movie, and you might have different opinions after watching all the other movies in the franchise.

Rupert Purcat

George, you need to watch 'every which way but loose' and Open Season movies for the critters.

Nathan Swapp

I don't know why people got mad at your original LotR posts a while ago but I guess the best thing is to be clear in the title that it's a Lord of the Rings commentary, not reaction.

j c

Don't be ridiculous George, why would I sit for 5 hours? I'm going to skim until you get to my inane ridiculous question, then turn it off self-satisfied at my complete lack of contribution and go do something that doesn't benefit society in the slightest, like the useless waste of oxygen I am.

Logan Kerlee

JUST finished watched this LONNNNNNNNNG video! xD I had a great time watching and was laughing a good bit throughout. :) <3 I was so damn excited when George said that Terminator 2 was one of his top 5! Hell yeah, man!! That one's fucking amazing. Went ahead and asked Natalie Gold here on Patreon if she'd consider doing a collab with you guys! I'll totally report back if I wind up hearing back from her. :)

Ph4ZeD

I think a lot of people would love to see a LoTR watch, yes we all know it would be an "analysis" rather than a reaction but who cares?

Diiirk706

Errr.... *Excuse you* ? : The ''West'' Coast has *THE* most pronounced ''Canadian Accents'', babes.... Manitoba, Saskatchewan, The Fucking Prairies, BC, Edmonton (not to mention both Territories, especially the Yukon)..... ''Layg'', ''bayg'', ''oot'' (that's not really pronounced oot, everyone just thinks it is...) all ''West'' coast... And yes Simone; you consistently, and pretty frequently, say ''eh'', along with a slew of other BC-isms... George goes a lot less hard with the ''ehs'', but they're there.... Soz; I'm just not letting *anyone* put that Bad Juju on East Coasters... Oh, and and just in case you forgot George; Québec/Montréal *is* East Coast...

Simon Pegged Me

The Raven (2012) has Alice Eve buried alive in a coffin. On a talk show—I think it was Late Show with Craig Ferguson—she said they actually put her in a coffin and hammered it closed.

Simon Pegged Me

I watched all 5 hours, and now, I'm reading comments. They say the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Ochnoe123

An idea for the podcast, which i enjoyed. Maybe do the after movie talk more with podcast format in mind and/or make a list of standard talkingpoints and once a month you cut the after movie talks into one video. It would be minimal more work (i guess) and for me personally the outro talk feels too short anyways a lot of times.^^

Gratch... just Gratch

Oooh! Children of Time is such a good novel! I'm reading some more of his work right now.

RandomNevermind

Seems I am one of the three ;) I was a little sad that only couple of my questions were answered. But strangely enough other people kinda asked most them too. So I've got answers and that's nice. But could you answer please in a comment is it possible to see your backlog list in order to get an understanding what was already recommended? And could somebody provide the list of content before the Shindler's List? I just dont want to suggest you the movies alredy watched\in backlog since I dont wanna waste your time. About REC movie. That's a really good movie but I think that american remake "Qurantine" is even better. Which is super rare case - usually scene by scene remakes are not worth watching. So I kinda suggest it. Also I was sceptical about that video with answers. But it was very interesting and very fun. Thank you very much for the answers. You are the best reactors ever.

Martin Roca

My plan for this is, video on the second monitor while playing Elden Ring, i hope it's a good experience.

j c

I thought so, but it turns out I was just looking at a highly polished side of the cheese counter

michael clarke

maybe when you sit down to watch a new movie you can give a quick five about the last one you saw, and just collect those clips and drop them together.

michael clarke

or i guess you often do more than one movie a day. should just try and put a day in between them so maybe youve had some time to think about it. so maybe a quick five just covering your last session.

Odd Thomas

I listened to the whole thing while I (foolishly) began alphabetising my film collection (I got to 'J' so that tells you how many films I have)

michael clarke

had another idea, and i feel silly commenting three times, but what if you waited until the video went live for us patrons and responded with your after thoughts and to some of the worthwhile comments. not everyone like you did here, but more, when we drop interesting takes or good trivia. feedback on community feedback as well as if your perception of the film has changed since doing it.... or this is probably too similar to what you already tried lol. i enjoyed the extra content, but if it wasnt getting much response for the effort, i understand you dropping it.

HeyHeyJK

Only halfway through so far, but here are take-aways/comments: This video is fun and already thinking of better question for next time (you haven't gotten to me yet but already answered the question). Shout out to the person who asked about board games and, based on Simone's answer and her D&D experience, here are other recommendations: Lords of Waterdeep - with or without the Scoundrels of Skullport expansion - is really fun and specifically in the D&D universe. Also, since you like Dixit, check out Mysterium which also uses amazing abstract art but you play as competing psychics during a seance trying to solve a murder. There are other fun dungeon crawl board games, like Clank Catacombs which is fun, or a new cooperative game called Freelancers which is super D&D style and has an app that serves as the DM and you play as animals being hired to go on quests and is really fun. Also, while I've never played D&D or watched Critical Role, I recently saw Ashley Johnson walking her dogs in my neighborhood a couple of weeks ago, and my neighbor saw her at Trader Joe's. My downstairs neighbor also works on the show in some capacity, but I've never asked him about what he does, and my apartment manager was wearing a Critical Role t-shirt the day I moved in. The biggest takeaway, however, which is no revelation, is that you're both awesome and looking forward to a new year of reactions (even if they're not always the ones I suggest, like Network, hint, hint). If you need to escape the Canadian winter, come down to LA and I'll chauffer you around and hit up all the sites!

Hans Czajkowski Jørgensen

Thanks for the AMA everyone, including George and Simone. What an excellent way to spend a lazy saturday.

Max Bob

Love all the responses and the 5h length. That was great !

Happy Hanukkah

You seem to have misunderstood. It's "You've Got Mail," as in chain mail. It's a movie about this heroic peasant who is knighted for his bravery.

Happy Hanukkah

2:08:34 LOL 3:29:59 I'm holding you to that! 3:36:59 "If we're stoned, we just sit there and stare, and nothing will happen." Would it help if before toking up, you made a huge sign saying "Press 'play'!!!!"? :-P 3:52:36 Simone, I believe the correct answer is: "Wait a minute! Did she just move?!" And George, consider the following scenario: In very many years, you get a sudden fatal heart attack while driving, and plow into a group of schoolchildren, killing 9 of them. Might you want to re-consider your gravestone? :-) 4:43:58 My belly doesn't jiggle, it folds. 4:44:59 You might want to get a clothespin... :-P

Happy Hanukkah

Focusing on questions by my favorite patron: 4:04:29 Ask *Us* Anything. 4:04:43 Don't worry, George, I get that a lot. :-) 4:05:04 In my great magnanimity, I am choosing to forgive you, Simone. Just don't let it happen again! 4:40:03 WTF?! That's the ***stupidest*** question I've ever heard! 4:41:52: "You complete... me?" And that is how George lost the part to Tom Cruise. 4:42:00 BZZZT! Sorry, you're only one eighth of the way there. (40 hours?!) The correct answer is provided, appropriately enough, by a question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7uC5m-IRns (Also, I am slightly dubious, given 3:51:14)

Rachel W

Ok, you guys absolutely now have to do a RomCom poll. My suggestions, "Some Like it Hot(1959), "Harold and Maude (1971), "Crossing Delancey"(1989), and "Moonstruck" (1987)

Jasper Collins

Can you please go watch Dune 2 in the cinema? I know we lose a first time reaction but I think some movies should be seen on the big screen.

Brandon Meng

There are channels dedicated to movie reactions who will have separate channels dedicated to music reactions but they constantly link each other or reference each other. The music reaction channels have copyright issues but they usually get around them by extensive cutting throughout the songs, adding analysis, critiques, and whatever other kind of filler they can think of. You're both obviously very musical, I would love to see you have a spinoff YT channel where it's dedicated exclusively to music reactions!

Kniggit

As a fan of the monthly recap videos, I'm going to predict that a monthly AMA video will see the same drop in engagement and suggest alternating between the two. This let's you give a little more of a bigger picture on the movies you've watched as well as give time for questions to build up again. Or even every other month a video alternating between formats as to me they feel more like quarterly content than monthly. However it works out, I'll keep watching whatever you put out. Keep up the good work! 😊

Jeff Norwood-Brown

Simone - I live with chronic anxiety but thankfully it’s largely under control now (happy to pass on any tips but it’s mainly massive amounts of prescription drugs that work for me!). I also listen to podcasts and audio books through the night to stop my brain working. If I do get an attack, I don’t watch “You’ve got mail!”, I listen to you two. Your channel is my comfort blanket. So. Thanks. Also, watch Paul. It won’t help anxiety in any way but it’s a great movie :)

JoeNotCharles

Haven't had time to watch this yet, but as usual, as soon as I saw it was posted I thought up questions I SHOULD have asked. But when you put out a call for questions my mind went completely blank...

JoeNotCharles

26:16 - I'm ALMOST sure I saw George near Square Victoria in Montreal, not long after I started watching. But I was on the opposite side of the intersection and we were both walking in opposite directions, so I barely had time to register it, let alone wave or anything.

Ethan Holgate

Considering you guys take recommendations for movie's I would love to see you to react to a very underrated Netflix Michael Bay movie called 6 Underground it's freakin awesome and funny as hell Ryan Reynolds is the main character in it hope that makes the poll someday 🤞also have you seen James Cameron's Avatar movie's that would be really cool to see also

JoeNotCharles

1:11:11 - "What's your favourite thing to go on a long endless tangent about?" Ah, so that's why it's a 5 hour video...

Aaron Stinson

You’ve Got Mail? Is that the one where Tom Hanks has poison ivy up his ass?

Moni Castaneda

okay, one hour to go... will finish later. When will the next AMA be? I thought a couple of questions but now I forgot...

Dazzler & Em

Really great video, I'm sure we all appreciate you both getting through each and every question. Just to add my support for a lord of the rings rewatch, they are such awesome films. I would agree with George about MCU fatigue at the moment.

Happy Hanukkah

I certainly wasn't expecting an Answer Everything (even my nonsense :-) ); I thought it would be 1/2 - 1 hour of answering selected questions. Kudos to George and Simone.

Travis H

It may have taken a while but I have finished the AMA! Really enjoyable video. It was brought up maybe watching the Oscars with you all, and I would gladly watch the Oscars with you all on Twitch. That would be a lot of fun. And with it being a live broadcast it would be hard to sync up. And I have followed Simone on Twitch….anyways I think I did, she never actually said her username. But I think I have the right one and didn’t just follow some random person.

Cliff

I remember Connections! I think I have the book upstairs, and I met James Burke when he was plugging it.Entertaining and interesting, but suffers from an overemphasis on tech innovations and individuals at the expense of more boring but arguably far more important factors, such as migration patterns and demographic shifts. Without wishing to be snob about it, I think it's a very Shiny Object approach to history.

Glenner7

I "made it to this point" (the end). I'm pretty sure there were more than three of us.

Glenner7

also, I believe AUA would stand for Ask US Anything.

Gary Fixler

1:27:20 - OH GOD, metal fork on metal pot is my Kryptonite. It's absolute torture, and I don't mind nails on chalkboard at all. Fork on pot sees me slapping my hands over my ears and doubling over in agony. I feel like all my teeth are going to shatter and/or fall out.
