Crikey! Amazing pic, guys! So much fun.

Jay Davis

My inner 80s kid is very happy this morning.

JayF

George, I dunno how the Aussies feel about it in general but a certain reactor from down under loved it.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Haha Aussie here and I’ve never had an issue with this film and always found it fun! Paul Hogan was always a charming, self-aware comic and the “ocker” stereotype of the outback-loving, “makes friends with everyone” bloke is somewhat true considering I’ve always been able to have a good quick chat with strangers to this very day lol. It’s just second nature socialising. The only thing I’ve had a beef with is the Fosters endorsement he did - none of us drink that shit unless we’re desperate to keep the buzz on haha. Side note George that “Bart vs Australia” is in my top 10 Simpsons episodes

JayF

Btw, the sequel is just about as good, some may like it even more. Beyond that? Hot garbage.

beefjerkywizard

You thirsty Cinebitches hahahaha. Great reaction.

Chase Lonnergan

I know more than a few Aussies through my work, and EVERY one of them likes this movie. Though they like the sequel more.

pedantech

Wow, I never noticed how much she sounds like Sharon Stone.

pedantech

George, USA has brain eating amoeba. "In the United States, between zero and five cases were diagnosed annually from 2013 to 2022. During this period, a total of 29 infections were reported in the United States." You can even get them from using a neti pot with tap water.

Joel the Human

An old favorite of mine for sure; you should definitely watch the second one as well!

Skyruff

If you every wondered how much George listens to Simone, we have our answer now. “… I wouldn’t be so tall.” Hehe.

JamesJ

The 2nd one is very good, better than the 1st, in my opinion.

pedantech

God, I hate when you get to that part of an 80s or 90s movie that's absolutely cringy now. And we thought it was OK-ish or even funny back then. It's so embarrassing. Knowing that's just the way things go doesn't make it much better. It does make me wonder what things in today's popular movies will be cringy in another 30-40 years. Maybe it'll be eating meat or driving personal fuel combustion automobiles. Fortunately, there's so much good stuff in this movie to make up for those few moments.

pedantech

I remember liking it, but I don't think I liked it as much as the first. It's been so long since I've seen it. I'd love to watch it with my Cinibinge friends, regardless.

DM DC

I really enjoyed the 2nd movie. It's definitely different feel from the first but it was good in that different way. It's tough to explain without spoiling but if you see it you may get what I mean.

Kim Brink

Crocodile Dundee II is almost as good if not better than the first imo. Not to spoil but you will get alot more background as you where asking for :-)

JLee

Almost didn't rewatch bc this has always been a saturday/Sunday afternoon, catch it in the middle on WGN or TBS kinda movie for me as a kid. The only things I remembered fully were: the knife bit, and THE bathing suit.

Lyle Morgan

The second one is a fun, but goofy, romp. The third one is one of the worst movies ever made.

Lyle Morgan

American who moved to the Blue Mountains in the early 2000s. I seem to recall The Castle as everyone's favorite Aussie movie back then. And can confirm that Tooheys was the go-to beer. It's a magical country full of amazing, interesting characters.

Odd Thomas

It still holds up pretty well, a simple fish out of water tale with a charming central duo. Remember when we made charming films just to entertain people instead of soullessly filling the coffers of some giant conglomerate? I won't name any names- DISNEY

Odd Thomas

Another iconic Aussie movie is Picnic at Hanging Rock. Very dreamlike mystery about a group of schoolgirls who go missing on a field trip.

George, If you were with me, you wouldn't be here in this strip club shaking it for dollar bills!

🖤I kind of have an embarrassing thing with this movie. When I was a kid (up until I was a "big" kid), I thought this movie was "Australian Indiana Jones." And I don't just mean it was a ripoff. I thought They made Indiana Jones for us in the U.S. and they "remade" it "Australian style" for Australia. I guess it's because they both wore hats? IDK. But #StupidBabiesNeedTheMostAttention LOL

Logan Kerlee

Loved watching this reaction! So much fun, throughout. :) It's always fun watching people see this for the first time - not knowing what to expect. It's a movie that's a good judge of character. If someone watches this and is disappointed that there isn't enough laughter or action - they're obviously the wrong sort of people. xD This movie just makes me feel happy! A feel good movie for sure!

Vwlss Nvwls

I saw this the week after it came out, and that week on Siskel & Ebert they gave it a terrible review. However, it was the top box office, and the next episode of Siskel & Ebert they started the show with a sort of apology saying that their opinions may not always reflect the audience blah blah blah. :D I always love watching this one, and the second one. The third movie I only saw once, and it was okay, but not nearly as good as the other two.

Fernando Alamán

Haven't seen this movie maybe since the 80s and, trans jokes aside, it holds up quite well. Nice little romantic comedy. Watching George's crush on Linda Kozlowsk, I hope one day we get to see his reaction to Grace Kelly in "Rear Window". Such an amazing beauty (and terrific movie).

Odd Thomas

Some more 80s classics: Short Circuit Flight of the Navigator Romancing the Stone Masters of the Universe

AzraRillian

Glad to see you liked it, this and the sequel were some of my favorite movies when I was younger. You should definitely watch the second movie, since it gives more background info and is well worth it. A bit more action/thriller but still fun.

mraran

I would compare this trilogy against Beverly Hills Cop as having similar franchise arcs. The sequels to both movies are both classics, more so Beverly Hills Cop 2 because it's more popular. The third films don't reinvent the wheel, thus are fine. Definitely encourage adding both sequels to your watchlist. Third films too for fun.

BangDroid

As an Aussie and certified bogan, I love this movie. My Nanna recorded it from TV on VHS back in the day and I watched it all the time - complete with super old adverts that we memorized lol. But I can tell you this one is fading from memory, especially for city slicker younger generation. I'd bet more than half have never seen it and half of them never heard of it. People with taste and culture will love it. I'll also add that the playful kind of prank-ish behavior is very Aussie. We always tell wildly embellished stories to foreigners, be it Drop Bears or having pet Kangaroos; we call it "taking the piss". Oh I'm glad David Gulpilil made it into your trivia for the movie, he was a Yolŋu man from Arnhem Land. I know it's a long shot but I recommend some other movies he's in; Storm Boy, Rabbit Proof Fence and The Tracker. He passed in 2021 not too far from where I live. There are several hundred Indigenous Australian languages, although precise numbers are unknown, somewhere between 250 - 360, many now unspoken. My recommendation is to see the sequel but probably not take it further than that.

Khan1001

Please watch the sequel!, its also great but skip the rest.

REDR58

“Taking the piss” always seemed an odd phrase to me. I prefer, “It’s better to be pissed off than pissed on”! 😄 (I know it means something different, just saying!)

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

As an Aussie lad this made me laugh out loud. Figures our Indiana Jones would be a croc fighter while investigating where the artefacts are haha.

Muhammad Rahbar

Another good movie with Paul Hogan is Lightning Jack.

Patrick

One of the reasons for high school kids to start school the earliest and get home the earliest, is because they will be able to come home to an empty house while their parents are at work and be just fine. It is annoying though. Most little kids are up at 6am easily with tons of energy.

REDR58

Walkabout… there is a 1971 Australian/UK/US movie called “Walkabout” with Jenny Agutter (probably best known from “Logan’s Run,” “An American Werewolf in London” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) that is very good but also rather disturbing.

MacGuffinStuff

Love this one. As an 80s kid, Crocodile Dundee is basically part of my DNA. This movie also I think gave me the idea of "walkabout", I've always wanted to travel a lot more than I have, sort of wandering like, but there's hopefully still some time. Another fun 80s rom-com with a little more action I recommend is Romancing the Stone, with Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny De Vito, it's good time, to oversimplify, it's sort of a cross between this movie and Indiana Jones. Nah not really, but it's fun. Also, you gotta see Quigley Down Under, it's sort of the reverse of this, an American in Australia, but in the early 1900s, with Alan Rickman and Monica's older boyfriend (to Simone lol), Tom Selleck. Great movie.

REDR58

So it’s hardly worth worrying about. It’s not infectious and it seems the best way to avoid it is to stay away from warm fresh water outdoors.

REDR58

Hate to tell you Simone and George, but Kozlowski and Hogan have been divorced since 2014. Anyway, a better bathing suit in a movie would be “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” as worn by Phoebe Cates.

beecroft adams

Good Australian films to check out The Castle and Kenny. Both are comedies. Also the Dish.

Crytek

Ah yes, the film that spawned the Outback Steakhouse

Persnickity

The reason companies stay 9-5 is to have a legit excuse to not work. In general People work hard to be lazy

Stugotz

"I wouldn't lecture an American on guns" She's a New Yorker, you probably know more about guns than she does.

Mastervodo

Better swimsuit: Borat.

China Andronicus

Another great Australian/classic film is Breaker Morant. Nominated for best foreign film and starring the always amazing Edward Woodward, it’s a personal favorite.

FranciscoGios

This is me reminding you two to react to Crocodile Dundee 2, like right now 🤨🪃🪃🪃🪃.

Jesse Coombs

Romancing the Stone (and Jewel of the Nile) are really fun, albeit guilty pleasures. You could actually watch "The War of the Roses" which also had Douglas, Turner, and DeVito as the third part of a "trilogy".

Jesse Coombs

Another really good adventure rom-com would be the classic "African Queen" with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn.

John

This was fun, knowing the regard Paul Hogan is held and why, I hope this line from Tropic Thunder hits a little harder "Pump your brakes kid, that man is a National Treasure." Crocodile Dundee II is worth watching

droodly

Just to add to your nightmare collections, brain-eating amoebas appear to be moving north as the climate warms. We have few but a non-zero amount of cases in America all the way up to Minnesota. Minnesota... right below Canada... YOU'RE NEXT!!! :P

Alexander Brown

If you liked this one, Crocodile Dundee II is definitely worth a watch. As an Australian I'm not supposed to be telling you this, since by law we're supposed to take the piss, but I like you both well enough to let you know Dundee: Son of a Legend Returns Home is never getting made; the 'trailer,' which is worth a watch in any case, was a star-studded tourist stunt.

Anodyne

I was 8 when this came out and I made my parents take me to see it four times. Only just realised where my life-long fetish for black one-piece swimsuits might have come from…

Anodyne

The second movie isn’t as exceptional as the first but it’s still a bit of fun, and worth watching.

Ketzalborne

* clicks to watch a movie with george and simone.... watches a 10 minute rant about 9-5 work hours 😂🤡🤡 kidz these dayz 🙄

11114422

classic boomer moment to completely missed the point of a discussion just to roll your eyes from an imaginary high horse. literally no one is complaining about the amount of hours, the discussion is about how its dumb to have everyone work the same days and hours which makes doing essential things harder.

Joseph Schiller

I would argue that the second one is better than the first.

Hakuna

the second one is great, just as good if not better

Ketzalborne

cant find this anywhere to buy/rent in the uk 😥

James Lawson

yarrrr I am sure there be a place you can find a copy! (Actually think I have it on DVD or VHS somewhere)

Eric S

The second movie is good as well. Don’t put yourself through the 3rd or after. So bad. So so bad.
