Development Update - Taking Our Time to Get This Right (Patreon)
Content
Hey everyone,
First of all, we owe you an update regarding the upcoming RevoluSound release.
The break we originally announced ended up lasting significantly longer than we expected.
The truth is that we genuinely needed it.
After spending years constantly working around Forza, its audio engine, updates, technical limitations and the pressure surrounding the project, we needed to completely step away for a while. Not simply stop development for a few weeks, but actually disconnect from the Forza world, clear our heads and regain enough perspective to return to the project properly.
That time away has been important for the entire team.
There is currently no release date
We do not have a release date to announce for the next update, and this time we deliberately do not want to give ourselves one.
There will be *no deadline and no crunch*.
RevoluSound has always been built around one principle:
*Quality over quantity.*
Recently, however, we feel that the constant push to produce more content, more sounds and more updates began to slightly affect the quality of what we were releasing.
And that does not reflect who we are.
We would rather make you wait longer and release something we are genuinely proud of than rush an update simply because people are waiting for it.
The next update will therefore be released when we consider it finished, not when a calendar tells us it should be finished.
We want this release to represent the absolute best of what RevoluSound can currently offer.
A personal note from Zendo
I also want to personally apologize for the delay.
At the same time, I want to be completely transparent about why motivation has been difficult recently.
We are not Playground Games. We are not a professional studio with employees working full-time on this project.
We do this because we love cars, games, audio and creating things.
RevoluSound is free.
Hundreds upon hundreds of hours have been spent researching, editing, testing, developing tools, fixing issues and improving the project without asking anyone to purchase the mod.
So when we then go online and see people openly insulting our work, sometimes with comments that are literally nothing more than "this is shit", it has an impact.
It may only take someone five seconds to write that comment, but there are real people behind this project who may have spent days or weeks working on what they are insulting.
And yes, after a while, it seriously affects morale.
The constant demands for new content and updates also became exhausting. There comes a point where something originally created for fun begins to feel like an obligation, and that is exactly what we want to avoid.
We also need something new
After roughly 3-4 years of working with Forza, there is another reality we have to acknowledge:
We're getting tired.
The same audio-engine limitations.
The same bugs.
The same workarounds.
The same things that need to be repaired again and again.
Forza as a whole the games themselves, parts of the community surrounding them, and many of the technical decisions and limitations we continually have to work around has gradually become exhausting for us.
That does not erase everything we have achieved or the amazing people we have met through this community.
But we need a new challenge.
And that is one of the reasons we are so excited about the eventual release of *GTA VI on PC*.
For us, GTA VI represents something completely new: a larger playground, new systems to understand, new tools to develop and an opportunity for RevoluSound to take a significant step forward into something bigger and more ambitious.
It will be a genuine new chapter for the team.
The future of RevoluSound and Forza
Speaking personally as Zendo, *Forza Horizon 6 will probably be the final Forza title I work on*.
That does not mean RevoluSound itself is ending.
If another Forza is released in the future, other members of the team will obviously be free to continue working on it if they want to.
But personally, after all these years, I feel that I am reaching saturation with Forza and that I need to move toward something new.
Because of that, this upcoming update means even more to me.
It may potentially be one of our final major Forza updates, and we want it to be a genuine labor of love for everyone who has supported us over the years.
That's exactly why we refuse to rush it.
We want to look back at this update and know that we gave it everything we could.
No artificial release date.
No crunch.
No unfinished work simply because people are asking when it will release.
It will be ready when it is ready, and when it releases, we want it to represent the very best of RevoluSound.
To everyone who has remained patient, supportive and respectful toward the team: thank you.
Your support genuinely means more than you probably realize, especially during periods where motivation becomes difficult.
And once again, we're sorry for the wait.
We hope that when the update finally reaches you, you'll understand why we took the extra time. ❤️
