Sirius Times Media YouTube Channels Restored! (Patreon)
Content
We just got confirmation today that our YouTube account and channels have been restored. We were very surprised at this development, as there had been no communication since we challenged a copyright strike, after which all our channels were taken down and no contact with YouTube was possible.
The short of the story is that our challenge to the copyright strike was ultimately decided in our favor and our channels were restored, one by one, earlier today. The video links to all of our posts on Patreon that had not been repaired should be working again.
This is great news. But we've also learned our lesson. Going forward, we will upload all full versions of our videos to Vimeo and YouTube. No one platform (YouTube) should have that much control and power over our digitized content. YouTube is great for promotion and reaching a large audience, but they have total power over their platform, and won't hesitate to terminate an account for perceived violations of their guidelines. We are going to use Vimeo primarily as our online platform for digital downloads. We don't plan on have a public presence on Vimeo but will develop our web site to include the videos available for download on the platform.
We're still trying to digest all of this, but we are so grateful to all of our patrons who have stuck with us through all of this. We'll let you know as more develops.
