buffalowildmigs

1:15 my boy madara has claimed another one 😭 lol

Listen, if Naruto broke completely during that little speech Obito gave I wouldn't even blame him lol. Dude just kicking a teenager while he's already down talmbout some "Look around and say it again!!" Naruto got so much heart to get woken up from despair like that ong

Episode 364 is insane.. just crazy how powerful the tailed beast ball explosions are compared to other tailed beast bombs. And ofc RIP Neji and the countless others who died too.. going to also state my honest opinion: I really wish we saw more of neji until this point. I feel like shippuden in general let down a lot of side characters like neji and rock lee. Og naruto in general just did a better job with side character growth I feel compared to shippuden until this point

next episode now

Sasuke

Fun fact: Sasuke has never seen Neji throw a punch.

Edgar Lopez

im ngl tho when i first saw neji die i couldn’t help but laugh, most pointless death in the series 😢

Xxx

She at least beat a version of herself at some point in canon

Alana’s pain

“I don’t believe that! although I think, I think they did die” 😭😭 10/10 reaction btw

Abinamikaze

Finally, time to see the most glazed shinobi in history!

Toji

your reaction to neji’s death was my exact same way.. just man.. it’s a lot.

Size of the Moon is an underrated OP

Idk if its just me interpreting what you're saying wrongly, but it sounds like you're coming up with a bunch of reasons for Orichimaru using the resurrection jutsu, even though he's already used it. Remember, he summoned the first and second hokage to fight the third in part one. They just needed to go down there to the Uchiha crypts so he could summon the grim reaper to get the use of his arms back so that he could actually use the jutsu to bring the four hokage back.

Argent6

I remember I lost my shit when the 4 Hokages got reanimated in the manga lol

These episodes are so great, It's a small detail but I LOVE how Naruto slowly walks past Lee as he pats him on the back to give him chakra, combined with Lee's resolved look it felt like to me that Naruto was saying "Let's get back up soldier". Of course Lee then proceeded to literally kick Madara in half, although the anime didn't show it as cleanly.

Sasuke

1. She intervenes in the Pain Arc and her getting defeated triggers Naruto's transformation to the nine tails, ultimately saving Naruto from getting captured and getting the chance to meet his father. 2. Gave Naruto a pep talk after Neji's death, Naruto was about to fall in despair from Obito's words and his resolve was weakened. She gave Naruto the confidence to continue. 3. Relocated Naruto's shoulder allowing him to land a rasenshuriken on Madara and Obito. 4. On a narrative standpoint, her not giving up and getting beat up by Neji in the Chunin exams motivated Naruto to push himself to change him. Because of Naruto's fight with Neji, Neji later assists Naruto during the Sasuke Retrieval Arc and sacrificing his life to save Naruto . 5. Was ready to shield herself for Naruto if Neji didn't step in the way. Not going to continue this convo after this message because it seems like you are either ragebaiting or just hate the character and you're not going to change your mind. It's ok to not like her but saying she is the "most useless ninja" just ignores several moments where she has impacted Naruto's survival and his character. Anyways, hope you have a good one!

WanderingBecauseLostLol

Kishimoto really fumbled with Neji, I get that it's tragic and beautiful that he died protecting Hinata and bla bla bla BUT other than this he's had practically no role in the series since the Sasuke retrieval arc where they gave him a fake-out death scene. Just kill him off there!

Xxx

1. Her intervening with pain did absolutely nothing for Naruto but put him in more misery and despair. She didn't make herself a pawn that got demolished knowing Minato had put a fail safe that would save Naruto. Acting like her action helped Naruto when in reality and from her perspective and knowledge of the situation is just an immensely selfish thing to do is just insane. She got 1 shot by pain, didnt even make it a fight also. 2. Neji only died because she was there and couldn’t protect Naruto properly. She didn't even mourn him as much as Naruto himself did. Her pep talk doesn’t mean anything, it's literally just the authors way of randomly throwing a random traumatic event at Naruto to have him overcome it. Its bar none one of the most useless deaths of the series. Her character was only ever used to put Naruto in great emotional turmoil so that he can overcome an obstacle but in no scenario has she actually been useful to the plot itself and moving it forward.

NOT gonna lie one of my favorite openings and it has a james bond ascetic to it kinda. RANT TIME!!!!!!!!!! BRUHHHHH I knew this was the episode as much as I love Kishimotos writing he definitely dropped the ball at certain points like with neji because why did you have my boy die to a damn stick!!!! Really!? Like not only did that not have to happen but it was a lame death too like bruh I was sad and angry at the same time to this day menememe!!!! Shikaku and Inoichi and the others dying was just a shock and outta nowhere moment like that shit was rough. Obito speech to Naruto saying I thought you wouldn't let your comrades di the speech still gives me chills to this day that speech was rough man. Hinata stepping up and being there for Naruto was peak that was done well and Kurama giving him encouragement too. Starting the next episode off with Shikaku and inoichi final words great!!!! Kurama glazing Naruto while calling Kushina and minato pathetic and they don't compare to Naruto will never not be funny lol. The kutama chakra forming into a bird while everyone is charging together that will alwas be peak one last goodbye for Neji. Yes thee all knowing that Sasuke was talking about was the hokage. Peak!!!! And yes the reaper death seal is an Uzumaki jutsu.

Wasted Potential

Welcome to the neverending discussion if Neji should have went out like that or not

Coils

THAT IS ONE OF MY FAV OP OF ALL THE NARUTO OPS not the most popular one tho

Alana Misako

i wasn't talking about the resurrection jutsu. i was talking about the reaper death seal and the demon god which we have only seen hiruzen and minato use up til now.

Alana Misako

it felt soooooooo sudden </33 i think i need time for it to settle before i share any opinions about it LOL

Alana Misako

i do wish we got to see more of him prior to this :((

Alana Misako

i love those small actions that say soooo much !!

The Formula

Obito gives discount Pain vibes. He wants to teach Naruto and the world about despair but his lecture attempts sound so bitter because his motivations are weaker. He lacks Pain's moral standing imo. Others may feel differently.

JKman

A lot of people are wrong about this. This scene had more meaning to it than if he died in Sasuke retrieval and the context around it was different. If Neji died back then Shikamaru would've blamed himself for being platoon leader and potentally quit being a shinobi. The reasurances of Choji and Neji's survival along with his father's and temari's words allowed him to push past the mission failure and grow as a ninja. As for why Neji died here, it's my firm belief that Neji had the greatest appreciation for and admiration towards Naruto of all the Konoha 12, as he truly values Naruto's contribution to changing his life perspective. In Sasuke retrival, he fought for him, and in this arc, he died protecting him. No other character would have the same level of impact. The dichotomy between Naruto and Obito comes to a head as well here, and it is a truly great scene that wouldn't have worked if it was literally anyone else.

Chimp

The hokage reviving gotta be one of my fav moments in Shippuden for real

Chimp

I did see a video talking about Neji's and Choji's fate possibily being changed on a whim later on, because the manga readers were left wondering about their fate for at least half a year or sth. with no confirmation . It would also explain to a degree why some of Naruto's friends have less focus on them compared to OG Naruto.

buffalowildmigs

the argument with nejis sudden death was always that anything can happen in war and was something naruto and co. weren’t prepared for. throughout the war arc tho if you look back, there was a lot of focus put on neji as far as naruto’s peers go (outside of ino-shika-cho tho)

purejerr

Man. I love watching these high/drunk. 364 for sure one of the most beautiful episodes I’ve seen. Obito’s speech hits hard. Hinata’s love for Naruto hits harder. I love my gf. Beautiful episodes I've seen

Kamikaze1024

I still get chicken skin when i saw the previous Hokage. Ever since i read it and suffered waiting for the next chapter!!!\

Tobi.SG

that's kinda the point I feel. Pain was the logical argument to Naruto's ideals while Obito is the irrational despair, even positionally the conflict is kinda flipped in a way, Naruto is the logical argument to Obito's despair

Tobi.SG

the Sasuke shot returning to the leaf mirroring Naruto's return from the start of Shippuden, so much peak build up to their relationship

-Dan_saN-

Hinata's gentle fist slapping Naruto straight out of the pit of despair 🥰

user1004

Rip neji🙏🏼😤, also hope the next drop is a triple!

moja

I was waiting for this episode, just seeing Obito and Obito's words, no sound, just the air, the shouting from a distance about how "naive" Naruto was. You also mentioned how in the Shibuya Incident in JJK changed your mindset on how characters can go at any moment, I watched Naruto before this, and you can say Kishimoto was the first to do this, to this extent. Gege was the next extreme for me after, but I could get over it quicker because of Shipuuden, kind of crazy but yeah. Neji had the intellect and talent to see his short comings in og Naruto to then help in the Sasuke Retrieval Arc and then become a Jonin in the beginning of Shipuuden, he didn't really have that much focus on his character after, so to see him die was so cruel, but also at the same time I think Kishimoto didn't know how to take the character forward, which for me was unfortunate. But his death carried so much meaning and showed the importance of what war actually is, it's not a character get together party but two opposite sides losing pieces/already losing pieces of themselves to achieve their goal, and in the middle of it comes death.

HOEmie

It’s funny how Sasukes quest is kinda a side quest compared to the fate of the world but he’s COMMITTED to it regardless lmao

Neji's story was mostly wrapped up in part 1 Naruto. After his fight with Naruto he learned the truth about his dad and changed his attitude towards his clan and peers. Sure, it would've been great to see more of him in the Shippuden, but he already played his narrative role in the story.

Nathan K

Orochimaru's change is so fascinating. There is a certain theory that when he absorbed his chakra from Kabuto who was under Isanami, the jutsu indirectly affected him too. But I think he just saw Kabuto try to emulate him to the extreme and still ended up failing, so maybe he decided to reevaluate his ideals up to this point.

WanderingBecauseLostLol

Tbh I wish that had happened MORE in the series, shinobi we grew to love who had plans and unresolved stories just snuffed out George R.R. Martin style. I imagine shonen jump editors prevented that from happening in early Naruto, but it would have made the story even more impactful at certain points.

hehee

In the first episode of Shippuden, immediately upon returning to the Hidden Leaf Village, the first thing Naruto does is climb the pole and exclaim, "This village hasn't changed a bit." This detail creates an interesting contrast with Sasuke; when Sasuke returns, the village has actually changed drastically due to Pain's attack. However, this contrast also reflects the difference between the two of them compared to when they first left the village: Naruto has remained true to his core self, whereas Sasuke seems to have become a completely different person.

EXXORO

The Neji death was random at first glance. But his death was literally the reason Naruto did not give up hope (with Hinata's help). When Naruto was surrounded by close friends dying, his hope was decaying (As Obito was intending to do). In my POV I always thought Neji threw his life on the line since he knew if Hinata died that moment, Naruto would lose all hope and sanity (same as before with Pain and Hinata). Also these things happen in seconds, no time to think sometimes.
