It's Doomsday Day on the Watchcast, a day that our own Vinny Caravella has hoped and prayed for ever since we launched this podcast. So join us as we go through Vinny's all-time favorite movie, trying to make sense of its frenetic editing and nonsensical plot, or at least as much sense as it deserves.

This movie had the most obnoxious use of music I’ve ever seen in a movie. The whole sound dept should be in jail for how this movie sounds. There’s too much music, the music is all terrible, it’s louder than the dialogue, and it just never stops. It’s like somebody pushed play on a very scatterbrained electro soundtrack and forgot to turn it off or turn it down when the movie started. I didn’t hate this movie but I sure hated how it sounded.

I kind of love Doomsday for much the same reasons Vinny enjoys it. FWIW, in regards to Marshall's non Descent movies, Dog Soldiers is a great movie, Centurion is good. The last 3 or 4 movies have all been low budget schlock done with his wife, Charlotte Kirk, and she is one of the worst actresses I've ever seen, but The Lair is actually a decent action horror B-movie. The Reckoning is one of the worst films I've ever seen.

I feel like this inspired George Miller to go "Actually, I think I do have one more in me..." 15 years later.

I rented this back around when it first came out and remember feeling so annoyed with it I just fast forwarded to the ending... Maybe I'll give it another try lol

I will still defend Dog Soldiers as the only werewolf movie worth watching.

American Werewolf In London, The Howling...there have been one or two good ones!

I can't remember how it's used in the movie, but the songs are all bangers: Adam and the Ants, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Siouxie and the Banshees, that one good Kasabian song. MAybe it's the OST that's terrible

I think it’s used really poorly. And to be clear, I’m mostly talking about incidental and background music. The actual songs, while used poorly, are not terrible. Just used poorly. But I also pay really close attention to the use of music and sound in movies so it’s possible this is just a me thing.

The lads should watch this next Halloween. I’m a Brit so I may be biased… but it ain’t bad at all. Well it is a bit shit but funny shit.
