As someone who's parents are from North and South Dakota. To me there is a culture difference but I don't know how to put it into words because I've never deeply thought about it lol.

Oof. RIP Jake. I honestly thought he would out last all of us.

The only thing Missouri has going for it is legal weed...that's mostly it.

I remember learning Rolla's college, my mom's hometown, offered a Major in Demolition and Explosives that I thought was cool. Only one (at the time) in the US.

Poor regular emailer, Travis from Fargo

RIP Jake. I was always happy to hear updates about him. I found it incredibly charming that Alex's family cared for him so well.

A few notes on Montana: 1) Though it is a problem, Montanans like to play up the rising cost of living and real estate to ward off newcomers. There are many parts of the state, though, that are relatively affordable compared to the rest of the union. Bozeman (Yellowstone country) has been more and more ridiculous pricewise since the mid-'90s, but if Brad can hack Bay Area pricing, he can hack Bozeman. 2) The biggest thing to which to acclimate in Montana is the fact that you have your town, and you have 60 to 90 miles of nothing—NOTHING—around it. Where you live is where you live, and you are largely stuck there. For some folks, that's fine, but it's the single biggest point of acclimation to the state. If you're serious about checking out Montana, I'd recommend moving out for a month or two, if you can, to see how this aspect sits with you. 3) MONTANANS HATE OUTSIDERS, *particularly* those from California and New York. Do *not* disclose your time in California if you can help it. Also: 4) Though it has blue pockets, Montana is fundamentally red, and I'd say that the behavior of the worst in the state, including some in law enforcement, has gotten markedly worse since Trump took office.

Also: If we demand the Dakotas justify their individual existence, we have to ask Rhode Island to justify its 40-mile-x-40-mile individual existence, and that's a road down which we don't want to travel.

Yes you have accents and you all sound different from each other to my English ear. I think your accents sound nice. But I do like American accents in general. Coming from an island where we have so many accents from one town to the next.

Sad to heard about Jake, always enjoyed the occasional updates. And DDP Yoga, it's legit. In my late 20's, I was feeling pain all over and felt old. Did it for a few months and felt excellent. I still do it occasionally if some ache flares up. A nice combo of yoga, PT techniques, and body weight exercises. Recommend it to everyone. There's an app now but the DVD's used to be on sale all the time and do the trick.

It’s bad enough that Brad mispronounces Helena… but now he’s calling us Midwestern????
