Amid the ongoing tragic events in Minnesota, we try to find some relative levity by rambling our way through tales of driving in the snow and other dumb suburban hijinks, winter storm survival tips, and some now-dated Highguard predictions.

Years ago, an icy January, my brother just got back from Iraq and I drove him to our friends house in the country to have a few drinks. He hadn't drank in a year and it hit him hard and fast and he was out an hour or two into the visit. I was DD so now I'm trying to coordinate drunk people to carry him down these icy, narrow, old country porch stairs and toss him in the backseat of my car. It had been freezing rain most of the night, so now I had to get out of his driveway which has train tracks in the middle of it (welcome to the Adirondacks). Ice had formed a ditch on both sides of the tracks and my car immediately gets stuck right on the tracks. Now I'm spinning out on the ice, passed out brother in the back, looking up and down the tracks because these are fucking still in use, thankfully not that active at 1 am. Had to get everyone to start rocking my car, while standing on nothing but ice, to eventually get it unstuck. Drunk people slipping and falling all over, trying to get a rhythm going. Took like 30 minutes before I got free. Can't recommend. Also broke up with a girl while driving her to her mother's... then got stuck in the ice in her mother's driveway and they both had to push me out. Awkward.

I never stole car emblems, but we were definitely interested in and willing to steal any cool valve steam caps on cars that we noticed to fit into our bicycles instead.
