For one more week Vinny and Alex are holding it down as a duo talking further adventures in introducing children to horror (films), what kinds of garbage movies you can find in lavish high definition presentations these days, and what it truly means to be supported by Truck-kun.

Mr. Samuel Scratch

Legitimately thought this was the Watchcast from the title, and got VERY confused

Absolute Batman rips. It’s so good. All the absolute universe books are great, but especially Batman and Wonder Woman.

KABUKIMAN and Tromeo mentions!!! Long live Troma!

Also, FYI, drafthouse films has just released a beautiful 4k version of FREAKED

Michael Bataligin

Heck yeah. The Absolute universe has been fun so far. Wonder Woman is definitely my favourite.

Zachary Black

Seconding this. Everything in the absolute universe is great. I really, really enjoy Superman and Martian Manhunter too!

I always described FREAKED as "a movie with the guy from Bill & Ted. No, the other one." Much like Vinny said, that and Killer Klowns From Outerspace were mid-day cable stapples. Also Keanu is uncredited in FREAKED as the Dog Boy. Unrecognizable under the makeup but when you know it's him, you can totally hear the voice.

Look up the Corridor Crew/Corridor Digital "John Wick, but as a Seagal Movie" fake trailer aka "John Thick". In their making-of video, they hit all the tropes Alex talked about with always sitting down, slap fighting, and incomprehensible dialog.

I knew a guy that played Sgt. Kabukiman in the 2000s and 2010s in various other projects. His name was Doug Sakmann, and I worked for his production company for a few months in 2007. He passed away in the past year or so.

Absolute Batman wasn't my favorite of the Absolute line, but i stopped reading after issue 5 and i heard it gets really good in the second volume (which i just bought in hopes of trying the series again). Now Absolute Wonder Woman and Absolute Martian Manhunter- THOSE are my jam, haven't missed an issue yet and don't plan to. Absolute Green Arrow is pretty great so far as well.

Own a little comic shop in Michigan and the new Absolute Universe has paid all my bills basically for the last two years. My favorite is Absolute Wonder Woman where she’s raised in hell instead of themyscira, but Absolute Batman is the most popular. 1st prints of the first issue which you could have snagged off the shelf for $5 in 2024 currently sell for $300. Financial success doesn’t really say whether something is good or not though, but comics just had the Eisner awards (basically our Oscar’s where all the shop owners, writers, and artists vote) and not only did it win best series, but the Annual written and drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson where Batman saves a migrant camp from neo nazis won best issue.

Absolute Batman is fantastic, DC decided to create a whole new line of comics taking the characters you know but making bunch of changes that make the stories feel much more mirror present day problems. Batman is hulking blue collar boy, Wonder Woman is the Princess of Hell, Superman is a pretty much a resistance fighter & Green Arrow is a Serial Killer. They are all fun and all easy to dig into without all the back lore.
