Oh Darling! Oh how the turns have tabled! Look at you, being a bully to Blackadder, you silly goose, don't you know he always magically bounces back? Not to the place where he would like to be, but to exactly the place he belongs. Lol

Josh

My favourite episode 🤗 Mmmm rabbit pie for tea tonight I think 🤗 My go to film is either hot fuzz or clash of the titans

Josh

Never seen Blackadder before

Danny

Lord Flashheart is Rik Mayall , he was in the first episode of series 2 playing essentially the same character that ran off with "Bob". Rik Mayall and Ade Edmundson (the German guy who captured them) are the 2 main characters in Bottom. Bottom is like Itchy and Scratchy levels of stupid violence 😅

Spacedone

That's Rik Mayall. You've seen him in the S2 episode Bells (he turns up at the end and elopes with Bob). He also sometimes gets recognised in the US for his role in the movie Drop Dead Fred. For most of his career he worked in a double act with his old university friend Adrian Edmondson, who also turns up in this episode as Baron Von Richthofen.

Danny

Weird you mentioned the Shrek video, that popped up on my YouTube the other day too 😅 it must have been another random video picked up by the YouTube algorithm. Michael Myers used the Scottish accent previously in the Austin Powers movies, so he just reused it for Shrek

Asher Morris

Rik Mayall wasn't actually in Harry Potter but he was supposed to play Peeves the Poltergeist. He even filmed a few scenes for Philosophers Stone but they were eventually cut.

Spacedone

All his scenes in Harry Potter got cut. He would have been Peeves.

FF1M

You recognise Rik Mayall from the very first episode of Blackadder that you watched. He was Blackadder's "best man" who ran off with "Bob", Blackadder's fiance.

Danny

Rik Mayall's part was famously cut from Harry Potter. Pics from his scenes resurfaced online after his passing. He was set to play the main Hogwarts ghost. He was known for being a ridiculously funny and very likeable guy, and the guy who played Neville Longbottom said that all the kids were constantly cracking up on set because of him and it made it hard to film his scenes

James

If you had to choose between British and American comedy shows for eternity, which side of the pond are you choosing? You can still watch any movies you want, but TV shows would be limited to one country. And be honest, don’t just say British because most of us are British. We can totally read insincerity. It’s a British sixth sense. (the answer will affect your honorary citizenship)

Thomas McDonald

He played this guy's ancestor in Blackadder II, but he was also Drop Dead Fred. I think someone mentioned that when you watched 'Bells' and you realised you knew him from that.

emu cat

I see bi-plane i think Karl on top. baaaaa.

Benjamin Taylor-Yates

Citizenship? - Well done peeps we've turned another one! I'd been waiting to see Mandy's face when flashy turns up: Exactly as expected. 😯 (*reynholm?...reynholm?...reynholm???) We've got a few of those old war Biplanes, Tiger Moth etc...I'll be honest nice as they are, I was never really interested in flying them. I wonder if Melchit goes "be-ee-ee" as a throwback to Lord Melchit in series two and his romance with Flossy the sheep (Hugh Laurie in disguise). Wonder if that was the only sheep Melchy had?

emu cat

Rik was the star of Drop Dead Fred, kids movie from 91, was big in the US.

yemmlie

He was Lord Flashheart in the first ever ep you watched, Blackadder's best man when he was marrying Bob (who he also has some fun with this ep lol)

Remi

Here you go then https://youtu.be/k77JrTVyDC0?si=1BokuF-uY-NE7ken See if you have the knowledge to become a UK citizen, this would also make a fun video if you're up to it Any and all stupid answers will result in very mild humiliation by Me and maybe one or two of others

Remi

Rik mayall stars in a show you've probably been recommended Bottom, if you do plan on watching it anytime soon try remember not to watch the first episode if you feel queasy, there's a scene that will make you go 🫣🫣 Nooo that's gross maaan. 🤣

Stevus

You inhuman monster! 😵 not FLOSSY! Anyway, I think KFR is the way to go.

Josh

Flossy won't suffer, I'll snap his neck when he's not looking. Just like Ace Rimmer

Remi

23:16 I like watching Mr bean when I'm sick but my favourite movie when I'm sick is definitely drive with Ryan gosling, I watched that film 3 times a week for 6-7 weeks back in 2022

Tom

You have Bottom on your list? Oh boy. It will be interesting to see what yout hink of that!

Robert 'Neutron' Sound

Flashheart is like a cross between both Reynholms: Douglas's vocab in Denholm's voice

Jeffrey44

"OMG OMG OMG! That's it!! Drop Dead Fred!!!! I used to love that movie!!! Would have never placed him, THANK YOU!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻✨️" -Mandy Cane Lane when being told this last time (approximately 3 months ago) See here... https://www.patreon.com/posts/blackadder-s2-e1-110130731 Hopefully she won't forget this time.

Z is for Zed

"The exact same joke, the exact same scene... and it's not funny." We really need to get you to watch one episode of the American remake of Inbetweeners. Like, next time you need to apologise for something.

Tee Tee

The legendary Rik Mayall RIP, even had Hugh Laurie trying desperately not to laugh, hence the funny face. Your facial expressions during this made me laugh, a mix of surprise, shock, disgust and amusement all in one.🤣🤣

2026-09-23 20:00 As you said you like chaos in comedy, well you won't find two better examples of that in British comedy than The Young One's and Bottom. Both with a Rik Mayall (Flasheart) and Adrian Edmonson (the German officer in this episode). Rik in The Young One's was very young and Adrian played Vivien tha orange haired punk rocker. It's anarchic humour. I think Bottom is better imo, but both are classics in British comedy. If they are on your to-do list, maybe do them chronologically and watch The Young One's first. Chaos? Oh yeah, just a bit. :) Baaaaaeee

Mandy Cane Lane

Interesting! I am not sure my list has any particular order, but will keep these in mind!

Mandy Cane Lane

HAHAHAH 🤣🤣🤣 Interesting! I feel they probably really butchered it 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Now I am scared! Lol. It is on the list for sure, but keep in mind so is about 30 other shows 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Ohhh, very interesting! I have only seen a few scenes of that.

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahahhaa! Could be! 🤣 And Bi Planes to me are still planes that go both ways 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahaha! Dang, well I never thought about it that way... I still have much to watch, so from everything I have seen so far, I will probably choose American shows just for the sheer amount of them. British shows are brilliant but are usually much shorter as they end just when they need to before stretching them on foreeeever like American shows ... (looking at you Simpsons 👀). So just to keep me busy, US wins this (for now). Maybe when I get through my list I will change my mind as quality wise, the Brits take the lead. 🤔

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahaha, I am a silly goose. Didn't realize it was the same guy and had the same reaction as last time 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

That is so sweet, but then not where I know him from. After reading several comments I know him from Blackadder S2 and Drop Dead Fred 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

I can't believe I didn't realize it was the same guy 🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

That sucks, imagine that must have been super frustrating for him. I apparently know him from Blackadder S2 and Drop Dead Fred😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Haha, youtube doing it's thing making the most random video viral 🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Yup! Both of those! I feel so silly I didn't recognize him again 😅

James

That is so honest. Just for that you can keep the honorary citizenship. Congrats

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahaha! Never heard of a real show being compared to Itchy and Scratchy! 🤣🤣🤣

Josh

Well I've caught up with taskmaster so maybe over the weekend

Josh

I sent you a couple of emails you said you wanted, should definitely have a look 😁 Jesus Christ that sounds bad, it's my cats ffs 😅

Josh

No they aren't actually, got Eddie months before. Both were rescued

DriveIn

I don't know if your Americanness (Americanosity? Americanitude?) extends to celebrating Thanksgiving, but just in case it does: Happy Thanksgiving! 🎉 Today we are thankful for a) Mandy and her videos and b) the look on Cpt Darling's face when Blackadder calls him "darling"😁

AWR93

Hey Mandy, your memory is not that bad! After all, you’ve managed to remember my name 🤪 And as others have mentioned, Rik Mayall was going to play “Peeves the Poltergiest” in Harry Potter (just like how John Cleese played “Nearly Headless Nick”), but he was cut from the movie. Here’s a vid of him explaining what happened (he sounded a bit salty lol) https://youtu.be/S9pioZ9TQ9E?si=jJyo2oThY14jyKZ3

Jonathan Davies

I reckon you do a Shrek watch along for Christmas Day 👀 🎄 don’t care what anyone says! Even with a Canadian accent it’s always reminded me of Christmas 🤷‍♂️

Jonathan Davies

You might’ve seen Rik Mayall in the American film from the 90’s ‘Drop dead Fred’?

Josh

Poor Mandy 🤣🤣🤣

Carl-Fredrik L

Rick Mayall was a ghost in the first Harry Potter (like John Cleese, nearly headless Nick) but he was cut from the movie

Julian

I’ve never seen so many mentions of Drop Dead Fred in one thread. I thought it was a pretty obscure film. Pretty sure I saw it at the cinema in 1991.

Julian

I interject with some sincerity when I say I’m not convinced the Young Ones or Bottom would be to Mandy’s taste. The toilet humour and slapstick violence is an acquired taste and can be funny, but for me you need well written characters to get attached to, or it becomes boring. For example, Father Ted and Man Down, which she (the cat’s mother) hasn’t watched yet, are also very silly but with elevated comedy and characters you become emotionally attached to.

Mandy Cane Lane

Lmao! I had forgotten it existed until the last episode where it was also mentioned. I used to watch that film all the time!

Mandy Cane Lane

YES! That and also the previous Blackadder episode he appeared in 😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Hmmm... never got a Christmas vibe from Shrek! 🤣🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Liam!!!! Some things do stick! Haha, and that was great! At least he got paid! 🙌🏻 But I would be salty too. 😅 Imagine getting cut because you are TOO funny 🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Americanosity! *nods head reassuringly. And no, I don't celebrate it, but thank you anyway 💚

Jonathan Davies

I think it’s because I’m the UK it’s ALWAYS on BBC 1 in Christmas Day so I just associate it with Crimbo 🎄😂

Superclarky666

Rick was in series 2 mandy with queenie etc.

Gray

Wallace & Gromit is more of a Christmas tradition in the UK i'd say, Curse of the Were Rabbit is a fun watch.

Wagoo

Yeah Rik Mayall is Lord Flashheart (again).. and in this episode Ade Edmundson his comedy partner in crime is the Red Baron. You'll get to know the both of them a lot better when you get to watching The Young Ones and Bottom :) Rik was also INCREDIBLE in a kids TV show called "Grim Tales".. where he would read out fairy stories in a really entertaining way Also I'd like to reiterate since we're getting towards the end of series 4 of Blackadder.. I do think it's worth watching series 1 at some point. It's.. very different.. but still has its moments. There are also 3 specials: "Blackadder: The Cavalier Years", "Blackadder's Christmas Carol" & "Blackadder: Back & Forth" My comfort film is either Howard the Duck or Bill & Ted!

AWR93

Crazy right? He seemed perfect for the role!

Mandy Cane Lane

I have a problem remembering Rik apparently 😅. Also, watching Season 1 is very possible, but perhaps not right away. I do hear the specials are fun though! Also, never seen your comfort movies 🤭. I really need to up my movie game 🤣

Wagoo

Yeah, anytime we talk about movies... you've not seen 'em! 😅 Which always made me think you should do a movie reaction channel too at some point Have fun in the new gaff! It always feels amazing when you're first moved into a new place

FeriLuce

OMG I saw Princess And The Goblin at the cinema with my mum when I were like 7 or something, when we came out her car was stolen.
