Even with the lack of Dougal, this was a fantastic episode!

Somehow first 😂

Woohoo more Father Ted. Glad you're feeling better

Jeffrey44

How is your big knee now? Are you growing the other one to match?

irreverend

7:42 Gladiators was a very popular early evening TV series where members of the public would compete in physical challenges against the "Gladiators". Ah Jet, I had a crush on her when I was 8 :)

Jonathan Davies

On the autograph thing..it was an easy way to get something ‘slightly’ memorable from a celebrity of sportsman I guess. It was a time before smartphones so what else could you get? 😂 I know you remember those pre-selfie days Mandy you’re an old old lady 😉

irreverend

17:36 That would be a cute story if he was upfront about borrowing the dog to spend time with her. You're absolutely right of course about not lying to people. I've never really understood why you would either, if someone falls for me, I'd like it to actually be me they fell for. Of course then I have to question their judgement :) EDIT: Of course here with Father Ted you've got to consider that Catholic priests are supposed to be celibate and aren't allowed to marry

Jeffrey44

Or American Gladiators as an American would say.

irreverend

@Jeffrey44 but they didn't have Jet did they? I think she might've been the only reason I watched it as a kid to be honest :)

Blue ink is easier to scan and separate, you can key it in software and isolate it so you can duplicate it, same way green screens work. Arthur Mathews has done a few things, he started on The Day Today, which only has 7 episodes but is a legendary show that has influenced so many show that follow it. He did Brass Eye and Jam, quite a few sketch shows and most recently he did Toast of London and Toast of Tinsel town

Kirk Deighton

Arthur's stuff with Chris Morris was truly great. After watching Mandy acclimatize to Peep Show over the years she seems ready for their stuff. King Boomer needed a lot longer to be able to get into it for reactions though. Maybe not Jam yet, I'm not sure anything aside from a decade of heavy psychedelic use and a congenital mental illness can prepare you for that, but the rest of it.

Kirk Deighton

Arthur was the brains of the outfit IMO. His very early stuff like "Ted and Ralph" sketches for The Fast Show could be heart warming at the same time as unsettling and funny. All his stuff, no matter how odd it got, seemed to have heart. I agree with the other comments about his stuff with Chris Morris on Brass Eye.

Josh

Awwww Jet, the cause for many young boys to stay sat down 🤣🤣🤣

Z is for Zed

I always start a date by telling her that everything she likes is shit. Don't get many second dates.

John George

Arthur Mathews wrote Black Books with Linehan and Dylan Moran. It's a cult comedy set in a bookshop with Bill Bailey. Similar in style to Father Ted and IT Crowd.

Life is better when Mandy is doing good! Agree with you about starting off a relationship with lies. I’ve never understood that. Surely one small lie will turn into another and then it must be exhausting remembering all the lies you’ve told and keeping it up 🤔

Ana and Shawn

its always best to be honest on dates or trying to get to know a person. I have to admit this was not my favorite episode.

Julian

The Day Today is also the starting point for the Alan Partridge character so I definitely hope she does that at some point.

Josh

Very true. Its much better to take an interest and learn about the other person's passions and hobbies. That way you can maybe start to enjoy them together and become closer.

Julian

Mandy will enjoy Black Books. Bill Bailey’s character is a lot of fun. Plus it will introduce her to Tamsin Greig, who also appears in Green Wing and Friday Night Dinner and is great.

Josh

Another great reaction Mandy 🤗 I agree about autographs and things. We get quite a few celebrities come here but I've never asked for a picture or autograph. I did have a drink and a chat with Maisie Williams once but didn't know who she was at the time which I think she found quite refreshing.

DriveIn

I guess saying that mass was nun-negotiable 😁 I'll show myself out 👍

Hello, Hello Lovely Mandy of Cane Lane. Great to see you healthy and happy and perky again after your bout of illness and all that Good Stuff. We've missed ya lots like Jelly Tots! A Happy Mandy is a Happy Channel for suresies. Anyway. Not sure what else to say but hope you have a FABULOUS DAY. Thanks for another great F.T Post. See Ya, annnnnd... Toodles x

Mandy Cane Lane

Thank you David! Happy Channel is a lovely thing to have! 🤗✨️

Mandy Cane Lane

Haha, that is awesome! She seems like such a cool person to hang out with! 🤗

Mandy Cane Lane

Yup, starting a relationship on a false foundation is just asking for trouble! Having said that though, I did enjoy this episode quite a lot 🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Right? Also the start of relationship where you first get to know someone is so fun, why start wrong?

Mandy Cane Lane

Ahh cool, thank you John! Black Books is on my list! 🙌🏻✨️

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahahhaa. Sounds like you aren't even being honest some of the time, it's just like a standard rule you have despite your true feelings. Interesting tactic I must say! 🤣🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Interesting, kind of like how Smerch adds depth to Ricky's writing!

Mandy Cane Lane

Interesting! Thank you for explaining the blue ink thing! 🤗✨️

Mandy Cane Lane

Ah yes, it would have been cute, but trust me, no stories involving my mom and my dad are cute! 😅🤣

steven

Amazing reaction! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Josh

Knee is 85% better now
